First impressions were of a motel style place rather than a hotel, although to be fair I did book with very little checking out beforehand. Check-in was speedy although the chap did forget to tell us about our free evening meal. Our room was across the roadway in, under a small cover. (Now whilst reading other reviews, this was mentioned...

My wife and I were given a night here through Groupon as a gift from our daughter. The Highlander far exceeded our expectations and generally we enjoyed a very pleasant stay. The room we were allocated appeared to be recently refurbished and the shower/toilet seemed completely new, and we were greeted by a nice bottle of red wine. Evening meal...

My girlfriend and I spent a night here recently, bought through an Itison Voucher. It was amazing value and a lovely hotel. We had read some uncomplimentary reviews regarding the staff and the food. Our experience was totally the opposite. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The food was very good although its not gourmet. At the overall price...

Checking was very efficient and welcoming. All relavent information like meal times, location of bar, restaurant, etc were clearly communicated. The room was a twin, every thing was clean and tidy. The heating (electric) was not on, however when switched on heated the room very quickly. The bathroom was fitted with a very efficient shower, it looked like it had...

My husband and I booked through Ski Northwest, which I would also recommend. Easy to find, clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, great food. All boxes ticked, thank you. We would use this hotel again.

I stayed overnight at the Highlander on my way to Inverness on business. The room at £60 for B&B was competitive. It was clean and spacious although a little out-dated. Newtonmore is a decent little town, not a lot to do although there are a couple of pubs and hotels giving you some choice for dinner, and the Highlander also...

If you want an off-the-main-route overnight/weekend rest, then this is the place to stay. Obviously well patronised by regular clients, it shows good value and quality in a quiet environment. Newtonmore itself has seen better days when its high street was the main road northwards, now being the relatively new A9 - hence now a rather tranquil town.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
For true Highland hospitality come to the Highlander, a hotel renowned for its good food and warm welcome. The hotel is an ideal base for touring the North of Scotland with mountain ranges, forests, lochs and river valleys waiting to be explored. Wind down in our inviting restaurant serving an array of dishes made from locally sourced produce. Perhaps a wee dram from the bar would suit; choose a whisky from one of the many local distilleries for which this area is famous for throughout the world. ... more   less
