This was one of my best experiences anywhere. The service was brilliant, my room had a pool in the balcony which overlooked the river and forest. The personal butler (Jess) had refreshments ready each time we came back from the walks. I had a guide (Ronald) who tailored each to day to suit my needs. He was very knowlegable about...

My family and I spent two nights in a great river lodge. We had comfy beds and a great view of the river, that we could swim in. Our welcome was amazing, being accompanied with our very friendly guide and others. We were given a crown and a cold, wet towel. Almost instantly, we were shown to our rooms. A...

My wife and I visited during a whistle stop tour of Malaysia last year. We stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I have no point of reference as this is the only one place that we have stayed on the Kinabatangan river I think that you would struggle to find anywhere that is better. The rooms were...

The Danum valley was the highlight of our three week odyssey through Sabah as part of a pre-arranged personal tour with my family. After a lumbar disc-crushing drive from Lahad Datu (insist on a 4WD vehicle as your transfer vehicle) it is worth it for the quality of the lodge itself; significantly better than some of the accomodation offered near...

Stay of four nights, March 2017, first time in primary rainforest like this, so amazing to see the lush jungle, with at least 200 species of trees in one acre! (according to my guide). Booked deluxe room, close to the main building, see photo of the view from my room overlooking the Danum River. This room has a large tub...

I was a bit sceptical at first, considering the price. However the facilities were of high quality, the guide (Rudi- I've seen him get a few mentions on here!) was incredible and the wildlife is amazing. Yes, there are a lot of leeches (and they're disgusting, I was absolutely petrified) but they sell leech socks at the shop. My friends...

Nice staff! Great place! A perfect first stay when you enter Borneo via Kuching. You can hike here, and it's easy to reach Baku National Park. You can sleep in a tree hut! Unfortunately they were sold out. But the family cabanas on the ground were perfect for us (two travelling couples).

I rarely give 5 stars but this one deserves it. Super location in the middle of the jungle and the best food on our 2.5 week holiday. Considering access is difficult the chefs excelled themselves. Good guide and beautiful room - we were upgraded - a private small plunge tub overlooking the jungle. Some great trekking and we saw a...

I do not understand the people who have criticised the lack of decent wifi.... do they really expect to be deep in a jungle and have all 21st century mod cons? Get real. This is real life and to have any wifi at all was unexpected but not necessary to our enjoyment of this incredible place. If you honestly can't...

First - the positive. The forest is great, there are some animals - macaques, orang utangs, and we even saw pigmy elephants - but as with all nature trips - it could be that you see a lot less (the birds are terrific - even though I know nothing about bird watching) It's 80km into the jungle - so if...
