Spent three days there and truly a beautiful property set in an amazing part of the world. The main reason for going is exploring the flora and fauna and that's where they don't disappoint. Our guide Ali was one the best I've ever had. So knowledgeable about everything that I was sure he must have had PhD in biology, but it's all self taught. And he was an absolute joy to spend time with. The rooms are pretty amazing, we stayed in the Premium Deluxe suites (PD). Food in the restaurant is OK but nothing to write home about. Service was a bit patchy and I don't blame the staff but rather their lack of proper training. One extremely frustrating thing they do is store the white wine in a cooler with the reds set at 18C (65F), which is within the appropriate range for reds but makes

I had wanted to visit the Borneo rainforest for years and our stay at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge exceeded my expectations. Our transfer from Lahad Datu was smooth and the hotel staff greeted us with warmth as soon as we arrived. You'll be assigned a guide for the duration of your stay which really gives you an opportunity for you to get to know them and for your guide to learn your interests so they can best customize your treks. Our guide Tommy was just phenomenal - he grew up in the rainforest and it was fascinating hearing his stories about hunting in the jungle while he was growing up equipped with no supplies besides his survival knowledge. Tommy went above and beyond to make the most of our time in jungle during our stay. His enthusiasm for the plants and wildlife was

This is a well planned, luxurious lodge in Danam Valley reserve in Sabah . Great restaurant, the guides are well versed in plants, birds and other animals are are eager to help you see the animals you have come to observe. Lovely trails, lots of leeches!

I stayed here 5 year ago in a deluxe room and the place has been refurbished since. The deluxe rooms have been upgraded and as a result I was in a standard room this time. I had no complaints about the room, except that there was no air-conditioning, only a fan to circulate the hot air. It appeared to be a Dyson floor stand. The room was comfortable, spacious, very clean, comfortable bed, large bathroom and shower with toiletries, in fact everything that you would want. The room became very hot and the fan did nothing to cool it. Food was superb with a great choice and very helpful staff. The reason I was not happy is because we hardly saw anything. I know that wildlife can be unreliable, but on my previous visit you could hardly move without seeing something, including

We had two night in a 5 day trip here and everything was just super. If you are a bit hesitant about "the jungle life" this lodge is great by giving you to experience of the rain forest with animals sightings and sounds of a real primary rain forest coupled with luxury accommodation. Our guide Adrian was perfect by taking us to the tracks (even in total darkness) and I never had a vacation where I learned so much about the nature and ecosystem as during these 3 days. On top of this the food is just excellent. This is expensive compared to Malaysian price levels, but worth every cent.

We spent three nights at the BRL in the Danum Valley at the end of November. We had been looking forward to our stay since booking in June, and it did not disappoint. Our guide Ben met us as soon as we arrived and was brilliant throughout our stay. Our walks were varied and exciting, and Bens knowledge of the rainforest was excellent. We saw more wildlife than we ever expected, and learnt so much. Thankyou so much Ben! The lodge itself & the rooms are excellent. The food is brilliant, varied and delicious. Everyone working at the lodge is so kind & friendly, making our stay so special. If you are thinking about booking this as part of your holiday but you are unsure, our recommendation would be to book immediately. It is expensive, but we felt it was worth the money spent. To

We loved every bit of our 2 night stay here! We wish we could've stayed longer. Upon arrival we were greeted with a delicious lemongrass tea and fresh fruits, which was nice after a long 2 hour car ride to get to the resort. Don't let that sway your decision to stay here as there is so much life to see, even right outside the lobby...red leaf monkeys hanging out just a few feet away. We were briefed by our guide Rudi, who is an amazing guide! He is very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and has a great sense of humor! My favorite part was the long hike with a stop at the jacuzzi pool waterfall on the way back. It was a bit chilly, but felt amazing after sweating in the Borneo rainforest. Rudi made sure everyone was drinking lots of water and enjoying themselves. The

Please note: this review rates the lodge’s wheelchair access only. The good: the rooms they allocate to wheelchair users are excellent-ours had 2 queen beds plus a single made up for the 3 of us; absolutely brilliant service from staff including golf cart rides, getting me up the canopy walkway and help with the food service; I was coaxed into booking a butler for my stay to assist me, and he really improved the quality of my stay as he enabled me to enjoy the most of our surroundings while my family went walking on the tracks inaccessible for a wheelchair. The bad: maybe as the rooms assigned to wheelchair users are not specifically wheelchair access rooms, a couple of details in the room, such as switches being low enough and access onto balcony aren’t perfect; although the

Firstly, the location and the lodge are just amazing. The payback for this is the 2.5 hour drive from Lahad Datu by mini bus or 4x4. Once you arrive however it is stunning. Warmly welcomed by the lodge, who extended lunch so we could eat on arrival, we met our guide AK. It is true that a two night three day visit is restricted to shorter treks but it is what you make of it. Our guide wanted to know what wer wanted to see and tried to facilitate it. Near the lodge we saw up close a pair of orangutans and the view from the lookout is spectacular (once you get your breath back). AK had extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna as well as being happy to share a joke and engage with the kids about films etc. He found random creatures like a coluga and leading tarantulas we would
