What a beautiful place! Homey feel, gorgeous gardens, nice pool, stunning views and wildlife, and never crowded; the only intrusion into your space will be the friendly, adorable dogs. Sylvia is an amazing innkeeper, who was extremely accommodating and appeared to care deeply about guests having a good experience. Andrea is also fabulous. Some of the nicest people. Although the location is remote, there are things to do; Sylvia suggested we take a mangrove tour from right next door; it was just us on the boat to ourselves, with no other boats nearby, and lots of birds, monkeys, and other animals. It was serene and magical. The location also works for a daytrip to Manuel Antonio. The rooms were simple and rustic; you'd be disappointed if hoping for something refined or pristine. The beach is gorgeous for long walks at low tide; soft sand and almost no people. However, erosion and sea level rise has clearly impacted it greatly and it is inches from flooding at high tide. Clearly, this hotel will not be able to survive all that much longer, but it's amazing place to visit now, while its years are numbered.

We arrived at Tranquilidad and immediately loved it! The first part of our trip was very busy with excursions so this was the perfect relaxation stop on our journey from La Fortuna to Manuel Antonio. The bungalow we were in was huge, two bedrooms, two toilets, a large kitchen. Everything was clean. There was a gap under the front door so a suggestion would be some weather stripping under that door to keep some of the ants out. The AC worked well for n the bedrooms. The pool was lovely. The main attraction was the beach. Although the waves are a bit rough my kids still enjoyed building sand castles and jumping in the waves. The sunsets were fabulous. We did eat onsite, the included breakfast was great and cooked to order. The dinner menu was basic but kept us happy for two nights. If there longer we may have ventured further out (other restaurants are not nearby). We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others lookjng for deserted beach vibes and relaxation!

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and had a wonderful time. The hotel is right at the beach and we loved that it was so quiet and peaceful after a day in the very crowded Manuel Antonio NP. They have a lovely swimming pool, a BBQ, pool tables and we could even borrow a surf board. The staff was very, very friendly and helpful and there was no rush to check out when we wanted to watch the whole (long!!) Worldcup game. We loved hearing the sea at night from our room and would definitely return if we could. Oh and another big +, they have very friendly dogs too. :)

The name is appropriate! Peaceful, beautiful spot, with direct access to miles of mostly abandoned beach, and a mangrove lagoon on the other side (they have kayaks you can use, and fishermen will like it). Two nice lookouts to enjoy the ocean views. There are warnings about rip currents, so caution is needed in the water. We chose this resort because it is pet friendly, and only charges $5/night for pets. There is a long drive along the ocean on a dirt road to reach the resort. Plenty of potholes, but doable. Bring your own food (we had a well-equipped kitchen area) or plan to eat in their restaurant, as it's a long way to a restaurant. Our room was clean, but not attractive. There was a table outside the room, but no table or chairs in the room. Although the restaurant was supposed to be open every day, when we got there we were informed they were not serving lunch that day. They were nice enough to open for us and the food was decent. Ceviche that night was among the worst I've had. Breakfast was sparse, although there was fruit and orange juice you could help yourself to. If you want a quiet place to get away from the crowd and enjoy looking at the ocean, this is a great place.

Booked with resort in May 2023. Decided we needed something different for our group and told them I needed to cancel. I asked for my refund and was told that they would keep my money and I could come at another time. I sent them photos of their cancellation policy and stated I wanted my money back. I email and get no response. I put 2000$ down and that’s a lot of money for me. I didn’t want to go through social media but that what I did hoping to get their attention. Not a way to run any business

We needed to get our car fixed in Parrita on the way to our wedding in San Jose and this was the perfect spot for us to stay for one night. It was the last night we were single! It’s pretty remote, a long drive on a rock road through a fascinating group of houses and other motels to what’s basically a deserted beach. We were the only people as far as the eye could see. The ocean was so warm and lovely. The lunch we had in the restaurant was delish. Bed wasn’t comfy but for this price, to get AC, a pool, a fee outbuildings with a pool table and an oceanfront lookout terrace, it seemed like a great deal. We will return.

As other people have alerady stated in their reviews; Hotel La Tranquilidad is a perfect place to stay if your're visiting this part of Costa Rica. Me, my GF and another couple stayed here four nights in March. We came all the way from Norway and had orderes two rooms in advance. We were looking for a place in the vicinity of Manuel Antonio and had been checking lots of hotels in the area. We ended up with Hotel La Tranquilidad mainly for two reasons; they have only positive reviews here on tripadvisor and the price was right. Before arriving we'd been staying a few days in Arenal and after the long drive to Parrita it was a welcoming sight to enter the gate into Hotel La Tranquilidad. The drive along the beach after the bridge to the island is longer then it seems on a map, but the view is great. Keep on going untill you think you're at the wrong place, then you're there, it's really not that far, it's just the first drive at arrival which seems longer then expected. At arrival we were greeted by three lovely and kozy dogs. Jo (the manager) was in the backyard and from the first greet we understood that we had chosen the right place to stay. Jo and Robert which owns the hotel are the nicest hotel staff we've ever met. They make you feel extremely comfortable and welcome, but without beeing tireing or in the way. When you felt you needed something they were there to help, and when you needed some time by yourself they were not to be seen. At our first evening they joined us for a meal at a local restaurant they recomended. Both the food and mood at the restaurant was very nice and it was a nice oppurtunity to learn a bit more about the local area and culture. The upcoming days Jo and Robert helped us with ordering different activities and their local knowledge really makes their advice well worth listening too. They know which canopytours are the best, what to see in the national parks, where to eat lunch, where to eat dinner, which ATM to use, what grocery to shop in and so forth. If you're not fluent in spanish and don't know the local area this help makes your visit a lot easier, and you don't need to go around thinking about if the local restaurant robbed you or not.
The hotel itself is situated almost at the end of the island with the estuary at one side and the Pacific ocean at the other side. At first we thought the big waves at the beach seemed a bit scary, but Jo and Robert lends you boogieboards for free, and with one of these tied to your arm it was no problem at all. We had lots of fun surfing the big waves. We always had the beach to ourselves and we enjoyed severeal sunsets there. It's a beatiful place and it's quiet and kozy. Inside the garden there are palms with cocounuts, trees with cashew nuts, ananasplants and a lot more. We enjoyed many free cocounuts during our stay, and the local gardener is very helpful to open them using his machete.
Since Norwegian is my native language I have some problems summing it all up in English. It's beatiful place with the nicest and kindest hotel staff you can imagine. If we ever visit Costa Rica again we will definitely stay here again. If you're looking for peace and quiet, but still relatively close access to all the local activities then Hotel La Tranquilidad is the place for you.
We miss it already!
Eivind, Hilde, Jørgen and Christine!

Our family is BIG. We rarely have the opportunity to all get together in one place at one time. Well we did it at Tranquilidad and had a fantastic time. The resort is intimate and casual at the same time. The beach is simply unbeatable. Most of the time we were the only people in sight on the beach. The waves were perfect for body surfing, boogie boarding and real surfing. Five of our grandkids went from never surfing to being good stand-up surfers by the end of the week. The sand on the beach is super soft and perfect for sand castle building. You can walk at least a mile in either direction on the beach. Back at the resort the staff was so friendly and helpful. We were friends by the end of our stay. The chef was really good and surprised us with a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving day! Rooms are super clean and all have AC and kitchen facilities (that we never used). We stopped at the grocery store in Paritta on the way to the resort and picked up snack food and adult beverages. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a authentic Costa Rican experience. Tons of both jungle and ocean activities within a 30 minute drive. We will come back again.

Our 10 day trip to Tranquilidad Resort Costa Rica was wonderful. It was the most peaceful and relaxing vacation my husband and I have had in a long time. Not knowing what to expect, I packed many outfits , shoes and accessories. LOL- I think I wore a bathing suit almost everyday with a cover up. It was great! Our room was located just outside the pool and just a few feet from a very beautiful and secluded beach. We were the only ones there most days. Fernando was the best host ! He was kind and friendly . Anything you need he is there. He even took us out for a rainforest boat ride. He brought us to the grocery store and cut Our coconuts to make fresh coconut water. He keeps that place in top top shape. If he’s not at his desk or helping a guest you can find him planting trees or grass and tending to the beautiful grounds. The prices were very reasonable and well worth it. If you are looking for a safe way to getaway especially during these times this is the place for you. We loved it so much we will be back at Christmas time! This trip gets 5 STARS from us ADAM AND STACEY FISK

2couples 2weeks...2nights at La Tranquilidad then came back for 2 more! at this little paradise hotel. What a find! Shhhhhh!! We started our vacation here and loved it so much we came back at the end of our 2 weeks in Costa Rica. Beautiful charming intimate beach hotel with lush tropical grounds on a infinite stretch of deserted beach with fine smooth black sand...long sunset walks. Boogie boards available sooo much fun! Spotless clean comfortable rooms. Great communal kitchen, BBQ pit and dining area. Hammocks galore! Choose yours. Build your driftwood bonfire on the beach by night. Perfect pools clean, clear and warm. Excellent hospitality!! Thank you!! Marina and Denis...see you soon. One Tip: Pick up supplies before you arrive on Isla Palo Seco beach. It's a long peninsula shaped island...nearest convenience store is approx 8km 20 min drive on dirt road. There are restaurants on the beach strip and one to mention Mar y Sol excellent food at the right price just over the tiny bridge onto the island.

"Cabanas are more central to the property and face the pool. If the rooms are full, you might want to stay further from the kitchen to avoid TV/guest noise. The house faces the back garden and the kitchen there gets quite hot. But you will have lots of privacy and room to spread out."
