Hotel Tranquilidad so well suited our needs as a family it's a little mind-boggling in the recollection. Being slightly off the tourist track, we were away from the crowds and closer to the beautiful pura vida lifestyle enjoyed by residents. As hosts, Jo and Robert were uncommonly attentive and responsive to our many and varied needs as a family (two... More

We return again and again to relax, unwind and rejuvenate. Twice with my husband, another time with our children, ages 16 and 20. The entire staff welcomes you like family. Brendan will go out of his way for any need- phone, trip planning, directions. Jose, the gardener kept us well supplied with agua pipa- coconut water cut fresh daily at... More

It was a great pleasure to stay in this quiet and friendly place. This is small friendly hotel with the owners, who are always happy to help you and make your stay there as pleasant, as possible. If you go there, you should definitely try sunset fishing and cook whatever you catch on the grill. Mangro river boat trip is... More

Hotel/Cabinas la Tranquilidad 5 stars + Fun but hardworking owners, great staff. Huge rooms and bath, nice beds, instant hot water, good a/c, very well furnished--everything works! Reasonably priced. Well-furnished common kitchen (all ours at the time we stayed). Awesome beaches and strong waves on one side, and beautiful mangrove lagoon on the other. Incredible sunsets. Real pura vida in... La Tranquilidad had something for everyone in our family. The younger ones had so much fun in the pool, running along the beach, and finding all kinds of wildlife at night. The older ones enjoyed the beach , and quiet places to read while mom and dad relaxed. We definitely want to go back!

I went to Costa Rica in May and stayed at Las Cabinas La Tranquilidad. The trip was amazing. The hotel was beautiful. There were only a few cabins providing a very relaxing, quiet, calming environment. Also creating a somewhat private environment. The beach was right there providing an excellent view as well as the gorgeous view on the river. The... More

If you need WiFi, turndown service, nightlife...don't come here. And that is exactly why I chose Palo Seco. You are truly on your own but the staff will help with anything and are a true joy. Brush up on you Spanish...it ain't Sandals, just much better. Ask Saide to get Carlos to take you fishing...it's amazing.

Brendan and his staff do a wonderful job creating a little safe-haven just across the dune from a long and empty, sandy and warm Pacific beach which you'll have all to yourselves at sunset. The shared kitchen and community area would be a fun place to share stories with other travelers, but we were lucky to have it to ourselves.... More

“Cabanas are more central to the property and face the pool. If the rooms are full, you might want to stay further from the kitchen to avoid TV/guest noise. The house faces the back garden and the kitchen there gets quite hot. But you will have lots of privacy and room to spread out.”
