We thought this hotel was fine. Our room was large, with a big balcony overlooking the Gulf of Nicoya in the distance. It was obscured by clouds most of the time (this is cloud forest country, after all), but it did clear from time to time. The only problems were problems with the town and not the hotel. For one...

We came to Monteverde without a hotel reservation, and I was thrilled when found this one for a reasonable price. Comfortable beds, big bathroom, a fantastic balcony, refridgerator, and very clean. We are birders, and the area around the hotel was one of the best birding locations we found! The included breakfast each morning was very good. We wish all...

I've stayed here twice and really enjoyed it both times. I agree with the comments about it lacking character, but it has everything you need. The first time I stayed there, we were in really awesome rooms with these huge tubs, but the second time I stayed in rooms that weren't quite as nice or clean. But overall it's a...

a well appointed, well run hotel in Monteverde. We stayed two nights, and service was fine, the rooms large, clean and comfortable. There was a lack of atmosphere in the place - mostly the clients were in tour groups (like us!) and we didn't really feel the hotel had character. It was the closest to a business hotel we found...

This hotel could be such a lovely one, but it doesnt quite make it. The settting is lovely, location ideal, and first impressions are good. reception area large and impressive, but the dining room is equally large but very impersonal, lacking character. Food reasonable, and good choice for breakfast. Reasonable choice for dinner. The bare is dreadful - can only...

We stayed here for two nights as part of a tour. The room was clean with a giant bath tub but we couldn't work the plug! Breakfast and lunch compared well with other hotels in the area. It was great to hear the dawn chorus with a variety of sounds. The trail round the grounds was amazing as we saw...

Breakfast was limited not buffet style . The food was brought to your table and you had to ask for more if...

We stayed here with a group of about 25 just after Christmas 2012. We used this as a base of operations for seeing the sights around St. Elena. We ate dinner here twice. We ordered off the menu and everything was great. Breakfasts were a fixed menu. We were served as we arrived so we didn't need to eat en...

This hotel is located in between Santa Elena and Monteverde. A bit of a walk to both places. The room was spacious comfortable and had a fridge. No lock box in the room but we felt safe and didn't need one. We had a view of a valley and enjoyed the many birds that came to the tree by our...

Up on a hill, isolated. Nice views, clean. No pool, no hot tub. Towels frayed, some had holes. Bed was like sleeping on a rock.No shampoo, conditioner, or lotion offered. Soap is in dispensers. Would look for something else.
