We spent a delightful Christmas week at the Parador de Ayamonte -- comfortable lodging, excellent cuisine, and a good home base for exploring the region (just across the river is the Algarve). Everyone was friendly, gracious, and helpful. This is a wonderful place to stay.
I’ve been coming to the hotel for some years now and bring many friends but sadly we leave the hotel to get food for breakfast and dinner. Some nice tapas would be nice. We would like someone to speak English and be more friendly.
Out on the Portuguese border, this Parador provides a good base both for visiting the eastern Algarve, but also for the sites of Huelva province from the coast to inland visits. The rooms are light and spacious and our balcony had a great view of the river across to Portugal and we enjoyed the sunset from there- the terrace bar also seemed a good spot. The cafeteria-restaurant offers a good range of sharing plates, though we went for something a bit more substantial and ate well. Ayamonte town is also worth a visit; even off-season we found it had a pleasant and relaxed feel to it. In all, a comfortable, unassuming and very pleasant place to stay in the area.
This hotel sits on the hil looking over the river separating Spain and Portugal. It's a short walk to the centre of Ayamonte. Would certainly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to explore the Spainish / Portugies border area. The only small complaint would be the breakfast is not that great.
we stayed quiet a few days in this Parador which is situated just over the border from Portugal, our room which was one of the superior rooms was a very good size with steps down to a garden and the swimmimg pool,we had wonderful views of the estuary and Portugal.we found their room service excellant. One thing we noticed was the width of the baths were quite narrow also no slippers!the staff generally were very friendly and helpful, The breakfast room did not do much for us so we took a superb breakfast in our at our leisure, this was always 100%, We ate a few times outside but as the Mosquitos love me regardless what spray i used!We would reccomend Parador De Ayamonte as a stop off when touring around this region.
