I had a wonderful stay at Sanctuary. The rooms are big, spacious and there are even outside showers. The concept of going on a game drive of river safari and afterwards relaxing in front of your rooms on the beach - wow. Birdlife is great with the river and bush and beach, all in one package. The food is great....

We visited Saadani because we had been to the Northern Parks and wanted to visit a place on the ocean in Tanzania. However, we also needed a place where friends from Dar es Salaam could meet us for the weekend. Saadani was the perfect choice. From the greeting and orientation to the bungalows and food, it was the best we...

We have spent 5 nights in this fantastic lodge that is located at the sea. It is not easy to give a full list of all the highlights of the stay, but the great staff is definitely our number one item. We will not easily forget Swahili Friday, which was repeated on Saturday because of special circumstances. In Saadani, you...

This is a gorgeous place to stay. Waking up on the beautiful beach from a luxury banda is such a treat. The small gestures make you feel utterly spoiled as a guest and you can feel your shoulders go down as soon as you're handed a cold towel on arrival. Staff are highly welcoming and professional and full of knowledge...

We stayed for 6 nights and had a very nice stay due to good food, great beach, beautiful location, exciting game drives etc. There were time to relax, but never a dull moment. We were very well taken care of. The staff were very friendly and serviceminded. The main feature - the infinity pool was broken - how ever this...

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of March 2016 having been persuaded by Go2Tanzania representative, Christine, that it would make the perfect ending to our safari. She was so right! Such a wonderful, luxurious yet peaceful and remote setting was the perfect place to absorb our experiences, rest and recuperate. The staff were all...

I visited the Sadaani National Park recently with my husband and friends. The Sanctuary Retreat was amazing. It was a quiet, restful sanctuary amidst the amazing wildlife of Tanzania's youngest wildlife park. I have previously been on many safaris, but this one was truly special in a fully outfitted Land Rover with plush seats. We saw large herds of elephants...

A friend and I visited Saadani Safari Lodge in July 2015. We had a wonderful stay and will definetively consider going back. The Sactuary Lodge had everything they promised, and more. Perfect half day safaris, quiet days at the beach or by the pool, great food, and nice company.

Saadani provided a different experience from the other Sanctuary lodges we stayed at. The game viewing was not as abundant (we did see a leopard) but we knew in advance that this would be the case. We used this lodge to wind down after 9 days of game viewing in the crater, Serengeti and Tarangire. The ocean is not paritcularly...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
There are 5 Maridadi Suites at Saadani Safari Lodge. Meaning 'elegant' in Swahili, these beautiful suites are appropriately named. Raised on small stilts and surrounded by indigenous floras, the decks provide an excellent viewing platform of the expansive sea. The roofs are covered in traditional thatching and floors are made from striking teak wood. All suites have en-suite bathrooms with a private outdoor shower for those who wish to enjoy a hot shower under a ceiling of stars. Meaning 'secret' in Swahili, our Siri Suite is the only one of its kind and offers the ultimate luxury for our guests. With inspiring views of the ocean, Saadani National Park and the sandy beach on the doorstep, this suite is set apart from all others. A private bar and pool provides unparalleled privacy, combined with private dining and sundowners on the small deck. This suite is perfect for honeymooners who wish for an incomparable experience. The lodge features nine colonial styled and intimate Banda Suites strung along the beach and cooled by the soft Ocean breeze. Six of the rooms are feature king beds while the remaining three are twin rooms. All rooms feature swathes of cotton cloth adorning the ceilings, large romantic Zanzibar style nets, locally carved furniture and incredible views over the ocean. A plethora of bird's calls will act as your alarm call to watch the sun majestically rise from the Ocean with a burst of brilliant colour. The classic Banda's have a private Makuti (coconut leaf) shaded deck area directly on the beach complete with locally made sunbeds and mattress - the perfect spot to soak up the surrounding scenery. ... more   less
