Stayed there in March 2016. Very quiet surrounding. Hotel is a typical DDR hotel, where in the days the happy few were fortunate to spend some holidays. The rooms (and the hotel in general) are a bit outdated. The wellness area is nice, with saunas and a nice swimming pool. Surprisingly, at checkout it came clear that usage of the... More

We had a lovely journey by steam train from Goslar to Alexisbad and we had lunch arranged for us at the hotel. A really good three course meal ample to eat, well cooked and nice service and the hotel is in really nice quiet surroundings.

Located some footsteps from the station of Alexisbad, being the junction of two steam train lines of the Harz steamtrain network. For train excursions highly useful – watch the first steamtrains arriving and departing before breakfast. Free parking, free wifi. Ask the reception for rooms in the old part of the hotel under the roof. They come at a far... More

Spent two nights at the hotel, and struggling with the rating as there are elements close to "5", and others a mere "1". We booked our small get-away only 1 day in advance, and in the high-season so limited availability in the region. None the less, the hotel covered our (2 adults and a 3-year old) needs of location, quiet... More

Went away for a 2 nite spa break. The village is very small however it was exactly what I wanted. Reception was simple as I was expected. English was limited but expected prior to arrival. The room was dated and in need of renovation but was very spacious and clean. Of an evening we ate in the hotel restaurant which... More

There's not a lot to Alexisbad - a couple of hotels & a railway station - that's enough for me! The hotel is quite sprawling & offers a variety of rooms. It has a nice swimming pool - you can watch the trains while swimming. Room was very nice but quite possibly the worst towels ever, I mean ever! Even... More

Friends had recommended this hotel as a place for a coffee & cake break when exploring the Harz railways. We had about an hour to kill so popped in looking forward to some sort of snack. However, they didn't do cake, they didn't do sandwiches. The waitress wasn't exactly helpful. We had a coffee & left it at that. Not... More

This is a large attractive hotel opposite the steam railway station in the little mountain village of Alexisbad. It is clean, with pleasant rooms and bathrooms, and has a large spa with a beautiful indoor pool, sauna and treatment rooms attached at the side. The location is good for exploring the Harz by steam train, and for walking in the... More

We stayed here over Xmas 2013 so that we could explore the Harz. We chose this hotel as it appeared to have good spa facilities, and was opposite the station. We booked a “turm raum” (tower room) in the same building as the wellness area. This was a junior suite with both a sleeping area and a sitting area. Great... More

First of all, do not stay in this hotel if you're travelling with children. It's a "wellness" hotel and the German guests file complaints if the kids make normal children's noise. Don't attempt to take them swimming since the only thing acting as a sound barrier to the meditation/relaxation room is a small hanging screen, which basically does nothing but... More
