A wonderful place to stay. Whether it's summer season or a winter snowy season. The owners were very hospitable and took very good care of us and were very accommoding. Highly recommended!

The hotel resturant is also highly recommended, even if you dont happen to be staying at the Berghaus Toni.

Great place to stay. The hotel is well maintained and very comfortable. The bar and restaurant is great too. Really liked the pasta and sandwiches especially the spaghetti bolognese and schnitzel sandwich. The surrounding area is amazing and beautiful. Great nature.

I've just spent almost a week at Berghaus Toni where Brit and James were incredibly welcoming, making the stay feel like a home from home. The level of hospitality and service was second to none, as was the quality of the food.

I spent four nights there on business, staying a fifth night for pleasure (I couldn't go to the Alps and not ski!) I ate most meals at the hotel and every night in the family/ bar area. I took great confidence in the restaurant being used frequently by the locals and the ice bar was great fun!

The rooms are fairly basic, but given I spent only 6-8 hours sleeping in them they were perfectly acceptable.

The family focused quality service and delicious food means I would not think twice about taking my wife and children back there; perhaps in the summer.

I should also mention Brit and James organised excursions around the area, which were most enjoyable.

This time we've done in another hotel due to circumstances but almost every night we did the apres ski and dinner at Berghaus tony.
I think in terms of location to access to the ski slope, probably one of the best hotels in Riederalp, step outside put on your ski's or snowboard and just slide down to the Hoffluh or Riederfurka lifts, which makes it also perfect to grab a quick lunch during the daytime.
Every time it's just like if you arrive back to the family, the welcome is truly amazing.
The kitchen is also very nice, not 50 different kinds of plates on the menu but really nice decent fresh food.
what is also a really nice when you have dinner there, is that the owners are English and Belgian, in which they sometimes give a special twist to some of their food.
For example they mix up the ingredients from both countries in one dish sometimes, we had fish and chips(in a modern way) but the batter of the fish was made with Leffe.
Also you can order cheese fondue with Guinness, in one word delicious.
You can also enjoy the real Swiss kitchen.
We will be back this summer and will stay again in your hotel this time.
see you

This is a lovely hotel and perfect if you want a genuine Swiss experience - not the tourism of the Jungfrau or Zermat. The building is older but quite charming and has a great view of the alps. I arrived on a weekend that was not too booked, and they gave me a very roomy double for the price of a single., The staff could not have been nicer, and most spoke English and were very patient with my poor German.

The room was large but equipped with Ikea furnishings, but it had a great bed and functional bathroom, but not luxury. The hotel is located directly on many hiking trails and close to a number of lifts if you want to see the Aletsch glacier or forest.

They also had a nice fire pit outside and many chairs, so I think it would be great for ski season as well. The real highlight however is the food - the chef puts a wonderfully creative touch on the meals. I was greeted with a welcome appetizer of artisinal Gorgonzola cheese with crumbled pistachios and a Parmesan cheese wafer, the second night it was foamed pesto and cherry tomatoes. The presentation is creative and modern, and the flavors were great. The chef also visited each table to ask if we enjoyed the meal.

I have stayed before in Bettmeralp, the neighboring town - its much higher prices and touristy and not much closer to the local attractions. If you really want a quiet getaway with great food this is well worth a look. My only caveat is that town is car free and its a good 10 minute walk up hill to reach the hotel - they will come pick you up if you pre-arrange, which i recommend if you have a lot of luggage or are not so fit. The town is car-less and you reach it by convenient gondola, you can park at the lift station or take the train from Brig, runs once an hour and the timing of the gondola is coordinated to the trains.

We had the good fortune to book our first nights in the Swiss Alps at Berghaus Toni. The hotel is in the village of Riederalp, reached by tram from the valley below, and our hiking began literally at the door of the hotel with access to the alpine areas above the Aletsch Glacier. Views from the dining room, deck and balcony are dazzling (you can see the Italian Alps across the valley in the distance). Rooms are comfortable. The wifi in the public area (including outside on the deck) worked without a hitch. The area is easy to reach by train. James and Brit, the couple who own the hotel, welcomed us with a wonderful blend of old-style hospitality. They helped us make the most of our visit and time hiking. Looking forward to going back.
