Hotel Wesseling is a family hotel with a long tradition, hospitality is of paramount importance and you notice that. It is of course beautifully situated on the Brink in Dwingeloo, the bike rental next door to make beautiful trips over the Dwingelderveld. We enjoyed the good and extensive breakfast and dinner there for three days. Culinary high quality, very good dinner, with wine advice and always nice service. The hotel downstairs has recently been tastefully renovated and the restaurant gives a little less space when crowded but then is diverted to the conservatory. The restaurant is getting noisy. There are many magazines present, nicely arranged in kind of magazine bins, you can sit there, comfortable chairs and again, tastefully decorated.
Because there were no more double rooms we booked one of the family rooms. These are located across the street where there is an annex in the form of a Grand Café. This is a large room with excellent beds and a bathroom with neat plumbing. Unfortunately the shower in the bath, which is a bit tighter. Furthermore, the room is somewhat old-fashioned and the carpeting and curtains certainly need replacing (tear in the window). The hallway in the building with old carpeting may also be refurbished but maybe that will come.
And yes, that church bell, which goes on day and night. Fortunately, we had earplugs with us, and that is definitely recommended.

We felt very welcome at Hotel Wesseling. The employees are friendly and helpful.
The culinary arrangement was great, especially with a well-suited wine pairing and the enthusiastic service. We enjoyed!
The rooms may be somewhat dated in decor, but the bed and sanitary facilities are fine.
The hotel is excellent as a base for walking and cycling. Bicycles can be parked safely and ebikes charged.
The location on the Brink is beautiful. We had a view of De Siepel, it doesn't get any more beautiful.

The family rooms are located across the street from the hotel above a grand café. The grand café gives loud music in the evening until late, which is very noisy in the rooms. The family room also consisted of a box spring and a sofa bed. Unfortunately there was no extra topper on the sofa bed so you felt the springs in your back a lot, even the young children. This is a point of improvement. Furthermore, we had a broken mirror on the bathroom door which was fixed with tape. Dangerous, better remove immediately, because there were enough mirrors in the room. The rooms were clean and delicious Rituals products to use. Tip: place your own fragrance sticks in the bathroom 😉
So keep in mind that if you want to have breakfast in the morning, you first have to cross a street to get back to the hotel restaurant. The breakfast buffet was fine, sufficient variety and was well supplemented.

We had a two night stay during their restaurant re-opening. They serve an amazing 6 course menu wherefore you only have to pay for one person during the entire february month. Rooms are clean and nice, size is average. We will definately come back some time.

Package: you get a 3-course dinner for 3 nights, but it turns out that the dinner has to be paid for.
Room does not smell fresh. Room doors cannot be closed silently. The shower splashes throughout the bathroom. Temperature very low throughout the hotel. Room not yet cleaned at 3 p.m. in the afternoon. Service in restaurant very slow. 3 hours for a 3 course dinner. Main course tasteless and served lukewarm. Oysters and the wine were delicious. Response to complaints rude.

Instead of staying in the oldest family hotel in the Netherlands, we stayed across the street, in a room above t grandcafé de Brink. Through an old and mosquito-smelling corridor and stairs you enter an old-fashioned room. The description as mentioned about hotel Wesseling (luxurious, comfortable) was therefore not correct for us. For breakfast & dinner you have to go across the street. Very limited and basic coffee and tea facilities (we only had 2 bags of instant coffee)
Breakfast (don't be late, then t is meagre) was otherwise fine, as were the dinners both days. They really tried to make something beautiful (and was also tasty) Staff also very welcoming and friendly.
For us it was a one-off

We travel a lot throughout Europe/the Netherlands, large cities. We have lunch somewhere twice a week on average. The price for a glass of Chardonnay (€7.50) is bizarre for a village in Drenthe. We don't pay this anywhere!! The lunch and drinks menu is also not special in terms of price/quality. Could be so much better. We have no experience with accommodation and dinner

Together with my dog I walked a number of stages of the Drenthepad and on the advice of friends we adjusted the route so that we could also stay a night in hotel Wesseling (Dwingeloo is not on the route). We did not regret it; despite raining down at the reception we have been welcomed. In the room the dog was taken into account. Also the staff of the restaurant were very welcoming to me and the dog and we enjoyed a delicious meal with a Wesseling Blond (highly recommended!). In addition, Dwingeloo is a nice place which is definitely worth a visit

Staff was very friendly. We got a room upgrade. Unfortunately, the pillows were very thin and it was very warm in the room. Opening the window was not an option, because the church tower chimes all night long... every half and full hour :-( Shampoo etc. from Rituals... very tasty! Dinner and breakfast were delicious.

Very friendly and welcoming, excellent restaurant and nice location. Plus point: culinary package is also possible for one person (and relatively very affordable). Add to that good free parking and a great bed. In short, an excellent address
