Detailed Reviews
This estate surrounded by a 9 hole Golf and a park is very beautiful in many ways ! The main building is a "manor" were you have the restaurants, bar, lounges and conference facilities, and the side buildings (the ancient stables) are the rooms. Quite comfortable and are equiped with all you wish to have a comfortable stay. It is not new but well maintained. The personel is professional and very helpful and kind. Breakfast is served as a buffet whilst you can have a few cooked dishes on request. The restaurant is excellent !

One does not have to play golf in order to enjoy Engelenburg: If you like nature, you’ll find it is a lovely hotel set in a beautiful part of Holland.
Our room was spacious enough with good amenities though we had (very soft) twin beds not a double. The bathroom was fabulous- double shower, double sink, bath, toasty floor heating, dressing gowns and even a little night light.
Dinner was a set 4 course meal. Although I did not see a vegetarian option they seemed quite happy to accommodate dietary issues. The food was excellent, however it certainly was not enough without ordering an extra round of bread. Pity the chef was so conservative.
Breakfast was a wonderful affair. Optional sparkling wine for those with something to celebrate. The poached egg with Hollandaise was divine though I could have done with a whole slice of toasted brioche to mop it all up instead of a half. I didn’t expect reconstituted orange juice but the smoothie made up for it. We certainly had enough of everything and it was not a problem to order extra.

This nice old authentic building has been transformed in a first class hotel with all facilities. It is in situated in a very beautiful park with a 9 hole Golf course. The rooms are clean comfortable and well maintained. The breakfast is served at the table in these Covid-19 times and it is very well catered, you have almost everything one could want !

What an amazing experience. From the moment we turned into the drive we had a great time. Our room on the first floor looked over the moat, offering ample shade and privacy. It had airco, which was a nice touch on a hot afternoon.
The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the room was furnished very nicely. We had cocktails on the terrace and then the four-course dinner in the restaurant, featuring a venison dish that was to die for. Breakfast was equally amazing.
The staff were all very friendly and happy to help, seeming genuinely to want to ensure my wife and I had a nice visit.

We had booked a package through “ViaLuxury.com”: one night, a 4-course dinner, breakfast and (if possible) an upgrade from a Comfort room to a Deluxe room.
The ambiance of the castle is beautiful, the surroundings and including the terrace at the back of the building. Upon entering we were well received although my request for the room update required some searching, but it was arranged. The room itself was lovely and very spacious. Downsides were the fact that it is indicated on the website that there is always fresh fruit in the room but with us there was only an empty bowl with a fruit knife. A spacious bathroom with a separate walk-in shower, however the shower head was one that was installed 20 years ago and for a hotel of this allure suitable for replacement.
Dinner was well catered for. We had a wine pairing with the 4-course dinner (one PDO and one normal). Wine was served only at the first three courses, while 4 glasses per person were calculated on the bill.
In summary, a great stay in a nice location with a few minuses.

My husband and I stayed here for a 3 night stay during Covid restrictions - these were managed really well by the hole team and we felt safe throughout our trip. The 9 hole golf course is challenging with a few surprising holes. We played 2 rounds of 18 holes and really enjoyed it. Food was great and the wine pairing well thought through. We were recommended to stay there and we will be recommending this hotel to others too.

What was not strange but very special - is that we had asked twice (by phone and in writing) to do something about the 60th anniversary of our parents - this was completely forgotten despite the very clear communication by Karel to the restaurant!
How strange and special - that at our request we got 2 bottles - domestic water - on the table - which we poured ourselves in our glasses. However, what turned out is that you pay 4 * water service at EUR 7.50 for that, so in addition to the good - but pricey food, and delicious but pricey wines, you pay EUR 30.-- for a few glasses of water during dinner. We hadn't experienced that before.

Friendly welcome, room still fine even though it has not been renovated in years, nice bed. Water from the shower is so squeezed that you can't really take a nice shower. Everything is clean. Dinner in the conservatory from uncovered tables, so the cutlery is on the table - no hygienic idea. Paper napkins - really pathetic with such prices. The dishes were tasty, beautifully presented and modest. The map is limited. After 2 meals you will have tasted most of the dishes. We had vvv indicated no onions. We get amuse full of onion. We had a very friendly but inept lady who waited tables. We asked for a glass of sauterne with the duck liver - she didn't know what it was and suggested a wine that didn't go well with the dish. The next day she poured a glass at the neighborhood table explaining.......muscat grapes! Isn't there a single waiter with wine knowledge in the house? At breakfast we got a back table without a view, while that is just so beautiful. On day two we got a table a little closer to the window - and that while the left side of the conservatory with a view was almost empty. The breakfast served is complete and sometimes nice not to have to walk to a buffet. Another paper napkin and uncovered table. The Engelenburg is no longer as perfectly welcoming as before. It is now just a good hotel in a beautiful place.

Suite nice, but way too expensive. It smelled musty. Upon arrival at the steps of the castle, a worn red mat, the curtains of the building discolored. Not a nice sight for such an expensive ambiance. The attention is on the golfers and not on the guests. Dinner was fine, but you sit on top of each other, too many tables for these prices. So don't have a quiet conversation with your partner, but it is better to follow and continue the conversation with your neighbors. Breakfast is served and you have to take what comes. We eat less bread, but they don't have crackers!

We stayed one night in this beautiful hotel on Ascension Day, including an extensive dinner and breakfast. Our spacious and beautiful room was in the Cape Houses section. It was a spacious room, equipped with all amenities, good beds and spotlessly clean. The welcome at reception was friendly and we were provided with various lunch addresses. The hotel is located in a beautiful area with many hiking opportunities. In the evening, first have a drink on the terrace by the pond. Here too, the service was very friendly and personable. Of course we made use of the very extensive whiskey menu.
Then a wonderful six-course dinner with matching wines. Every course was excellent and again very friendly and knowledgeable service. Breakfast is completely served at the table and is extensive. Perhaps less suitable for buffet enthusiasts, but excellent for us. Highly recommended for lovers of luxury and good service.
