Detailed Reviews
Beautiful hotel situated in the woods. When going for a walk, just cross the street and go! Good atmosphere. The personnel is friendly and helpful - sometimes not so experienced yet. You can park your car at the back of the hotel for free.
The room was clean, a bit small and we stayed at the frontside of the hotel meaning you could hear the noise of the cars driving by. Bathroom was clean also, a bit out of date but functional. The bed was to short (I'm 1,91cm).
Diner was very good and breakfast was also good and extensive. Although I find it a bit of a shame that I must pay (extra) for an expresso or a cappucchino.

Our room was terrible! Tiny, very dated at the end of the hall in the "trapgat" with a window facing the busy street. Mildew in the bathroom. It was suppose to be a romantic get away but the 2 twin beds pushed together left a huge gap in the middle. My side of the bed also felt like it was rounded, so unless I stayed exactly in the middle I felt like I was falling out of bed.
So why do we give it an average rating? The personnel were really nice and friendly so it balanced out the negativity we experienced with the room. Breakfast was fine nothing grand but certainly enough choice.
Location, except for the busy street is actually quite nice in the Veluwe. Hotel does not have walking maps, so best be better prepared than we were.

This historic hotel dates back to 1862 and is situated in the middle of the woods. It is a great starting point for many different lengths of hikes through woods and heather.
The hotel is right on the road just outside the town of Vierhouten, so there is a more speeding traffic coming by than one would like in this location.
The hotel is listed as a four star hotel, but really should not be. The hotel is terribly dated. When you enter the lobby and see the plaids thrown on the couches (to hide spots and marks), the old green carpeting, the sad looking bar, you know immediately that this is not four stars, The restrooms in the lobby are very smelly. The room was spacious but had an old, cheap cabinet in the room, the bed slept well, although the furniture overall had a very cheap look and did not really fit together.
Badtub did not empty out, and the bathroom had a shower curtain hanging from a pole that was poking through an air-grid. The hot water in the shower had a heat-burst every minute or so, so you had to be very careful not to burn your skin.
BUT: the breakfast buffet was decent, the staff is friendly and it is a great location!
So, as long as you do not expect a four star hotel, you will be fine here!
TIP: do not have dinner in the hotel, walk to the small town. There are some great restaurants right there in walking distance. 'Tante Sjaan' is a mist (even just for coffee and apple pie! To die for! A party on a plate) Or go to Grill Restaurant 'De Boerenschuur' 1k away. Great food and atmosphere.

The staff at this hotel is wonderful! They go out of their way to get to know you by name and take care of you. Mendy and Rene were especially helpful. Breakfast is a wonderful spread of lots of different foods. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

The hotel is located in the middle of the quiet veluwe in The Netherlands, but is situated right next to the only road that runs through it-therfore it is very busy and noisey. In the weekends fair weather motorbikers tear up and down the street and boy racers in thier cars do the same-quiet it is not.Although the terrace is quite tempting to enjoy the weather, the noise soon drives you back inside. The rooms are dated and tired ,the beds lumpy and springs can be felt in the matresses. The walls are very thin and your neighbours antiks in the bathroom /bedroom can be clearly heard!!There is a space for a mini bar,but there is no mini bar, just a tray with snacks and bottled water on the table.
The Breakfast was adequate and the evening meals were also adequate but not wonderful.
The staff tried to do thier best but are certainly not what is expected for a 4 star hotel.
I think that this hotel with a good revamp and being moved a mile away from the main road might just make a 3 star.Until then dream on.

The hotel is nicely situated in the forest, great for starting point for wals or biketours. The rooms of the hotel are really outdated and basic; when possible do ask for room not at the streetside. The rooms are not silent proog. Staff is friendly.

Mallejan is a nice hotel. Perfect spot if you want to bike in the forests of the Veluwe. You can put your bike inside the buildings during the night.
Staff is friendly and helpful, especially ' the lady of the breakfasts'.
Rooms are clean and decent. Wifi is free.
Only the shower had a little defect: sometimes warm, sometimes cold.
You can have your dinner in the hotel, as well in the little village Vierhouten which is nearby.
