Had dinner last night. Cozy atmosphere, delicious food. We found the staff downright grumpy. We had to ask several times if we could have another drink and if we were not immediately quiet during the explanation of the menu, we received irritated looks. After dessert we had to wait at least 20 minutes until someone came and asked if we wanted coffee. Well no... the way the question was asked invited me to ask for the bill. The food was delicious but very small portions. After 4 courses I still had some cravings. Too bad, it doesn't invite you to eat there again.

In my opinion, there is only one hotel that can rightly call itself a Christmas hotel and that is hotel Hoog Holten. We had high expectations and they were fully met. From the first minute we entered a fairytale and had three days of wonder. What hospitality, what delicious food (true works of art, almost a shame to touch) and what a beautiful room. Wow! My friend and I just came back from a great girl's weekend away at Hoog Holten and we're so glad we went. We picked a perfect sunny weekend, so breakfast and lunch on the terrace were a dream. Still thinking about the delicious 6 course dinner too - this was some of the best food I've had in the Netherlands. It's a great escape from Amsterdam, and make sure you spend some time chatting to the awesome manager, Hanneke. She made our trip extra special... such a vibrant, fun lady, we miss her already. We also did a super interesting nature walk with G, a lovely local lady who knows the are and all its residents really well... definitely recommend it! She took us on some stunning paths through the forest, even showed us some Icelandic horses, and she's a fun, well-travelled lady with some incredible stories, we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her as we walked. Do not miss this part of your Hoog Holten experience! Thank you all for a much-needed peaceful retreat from the city (it only took a couple hours by train to get there), we will be back x

I stayed here from Nov 6-9, 2012. The hotel was fully booked, but i was able to use the cottage behind the hotel. The cottage in a short walk into the woods behind the hotel and was clean. Breakfast and dinner were excellent and the service was great.

This was the third time we did visit the hotel and restaurant with a Groupon coupon and again a great experience. The hotel is in the countryside and the location is beautiful. A very warm welcome, a spacious room and a great dinner. Walks and biketours are possible from the hotel. The Canadian War Cemetery is nearby and worth a visit too. The hotel is really our favorite. WiFi could be better!
