260€ per (suite)room is a lot of money, especially if the swimming pool is not completely open, the sauna closed, the rooms/bathroom not cleaned.
But, corona time, so the hotel was fully booked and therefore the prices high.
Diner was good, so was the wine.
But Breakfast again a disappointment. in the weekend op till 11:00H but after 10, not recommended to go. WE could only go after 10 because our swimming slot was till 9:45. The sweet rolls were more than finished, the first morning even the croissants. the cheese and meat cuts were old and dried out or not available. soft boiled eggs only one left the first day, pancakes finished at 10:30 .
the hotel is in beautiful surroundings, nice to walk or to bike, we rented them at the hotel very convenient.
all in all a good but expensive stay.

Dear guest, thank you very much for staying with us and for this review of your stay. We understand that, compared to our normal operation, the rules and regulations related to Covid-19 can be disturbing, but we take full responsibility for the well-being of our guests AND our staff, especially in these circumstances. The measures taken are fully in line with the national guidelines, so we have no room to 'loosen up', even if we would like to. For your next stay please be advised that whenever you feel that there is something missing or lacking, contact one of our staff, they are there for you and are always pleased to bring you a freshly boiled egg, some fresh rolls or whatever you wish. There is always a short period during breakfast that is very busy and in which refilling the buffet is a challenge for our staff, but that should not keep you from asking whatever item you wish for. Overall your stay was satisfactory, that is good to hear. We hope to welcome you again in the future, you are most welcome! Kind regards, Landgoed de Holtweijde, Marcel and Marlies Vlek-Wijnbergen

How happy we were to be at the Holtweijde again and that in this special time. It felt like the old days despite the rules that now apply.
Everything well organized. The suite with a fireplace invites you to a cozy stay. We made a choice from the menu and it was delivered neatly at the agreed time. Complete with linen, glassware, rolls, truffle mayonnaise, butter, selected wines and water. Everything was well flavored and at this time it was a challenge for the kitchen to get it done that way. We imagined ourselves in a private room with a BIB Gourmand chef. A challenge today. Also in the morning, breakfast was served in the suite at our request. A surprise what was in the “breakfast box”. More than enough choice and a good alternative. We appreciate very much that Marcel and Marlies Vlek and their team are committed to ensuring the well-known Twente hospitality of the Holtweijde, even in this time. Chapeau!
Michelin awarded you a BIB Gourmand for us you are still well worth the trip!

As always, it was a super relaxing stay at Holtweijde including a fantastic massage from Jeroen who does a great sports massage. Food was excellent as well with a lovely 3 course menu du chef and nice wines to go with it. The weather was not great but the cosy front room with log fire made that no issue and you can sit there for hours reading a book and enjoying the cosy atmosphere. Highly recommend Holtweijde if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway in the country with all the facilities you will ever need.

Based on the positive reviews we booked a so-called ‘Royal Suite’ for three nights. It was a total disappointment. The room was in an extremely poor condition, in no way did it deserve the description from the marketing folders. Dirty, badly maintained, simply depressing. We checked out a day early, and the only thing the reception manager could think of was ‘thank you for the feedback’. Not even an apology. Utter arrogance, apparently things are going too well for this type of facilities. Never again.

Dear reviewer, Thank you for your stay and this review. I see you took the liberty to review twice on one visit, in the other review describing our restaurant as a 'funeral home." Based on the number of anonymous reviews you have contributed on Tripadvisor already, you must be an experienced professional traveller. Being presented with so much professional knowledge, I think we should agree on the fact that we disagree. It happens more often. Kind regards, Landgoed de Holtweijde, Marcel Vlek

We love to stay at "de Holtweijde" and have been coming here for years. This time I went with my son and daughter. We had a lovely time, even with the restrictions due to corona time. No complaints, just go and relax and let the staff take care of pampering you with good food (Menu du chef), drinks and attention. A special thanks to the pianist saturday evening.
Although we had to swim in a time slot, we had a fabulous time: we had the pool almost exclusively to ourselves.
We'll be back!

Dear guest, dear Jacqueline, Very nice to hear that even our regular guests sometimes feel the need to reflect on their stay at De Holtweijde through a review, thank you very much for that! Our pianist, Sander, is almost part of the furniture on Saturday evenings and is a very fine colleague for us. His music gives the extra touch to a nice meal with family, friends or your partner. Thank you for complimenting us on the way we handle the restrictions that Covid-19 forces upon us, we keep trying to do our utmost to please all our guests, even in these difficult times. We hope to welcome you again soon in de Holtweijde, Kind regards, Landgoed de Holtweijde, Marcel and Marlies Vlek-Wijnbergen

You think an estate, but it is more of a large family hotel with a swimming pool that you can smell in the hallways. Furthermore, quite impersonal. Suite is fine (cold on arrival and shower cabin in the bathroom), food is very tasty but forget everything you expect as an estate hotel such as a personal approach and service (towels not in the room? Can you come and get them yourself). Don't forget anything after a stay in a suite because you can call 4 times and all call-back promises are not kept and your toiletries are thrown away because even if you call immediately after departure: forget it. In short: room for enjoyment as stated on the site? In your suite, yes, and in terms of quality of food, but otherwise people are not very interested in you, not during your stay and not afterwards.

This was our second visit and will certainly not be our last. The accommodations are spacious and contain all amenities one could wish for. Hotel guests are welcome in the excellent restaurant without the need for reservation. Local produce features high on the menu and the food is of the highest quality. The beer is brewed locally and very good, definitely worth a thorough sampling. Thanks to the quality of the beds and the quiet atmosphere, we slept like royalty. The breakfast and coffee are also of the highest standard. Full marks!

Stayed here for 2 nights, unfortunately our reserved accommodation De Bosuil was not available due to a lot of flooding, but we received a free rebooking to a Country House Deluxe suite
Too bad, but the Deluxe suite was certainly a nice replacement.
The suite has a fireplace with fine logs of wood.

We personally found the disadvantage that the bed has 2 separate toppers and 1 person duvets... as a result, we regularly slept between the mattresses and for me the mattress was a bit too soft.

Furthermore, we liked the suite!

The first evening we had a delicious meal in the Restaurant 't Spieck, which has a Bib gourmand, the menu was worth it.

The pool is quite large for a hotel, with a hot tub area, toilets were out of order in both changing rooms, which meant we didn't stay there for long.
The water temperature was a bit too cold for us, but it was doable for a quick splash.

Extensive breakfast
Friendly and helpful staff.
Great that they also participate in Hotels for trees! (Skip house claining and they plant a tree)

Together with my girlfriend we stayed here for one night. Afterwards, it sucks that there was only one. We really enjoyed our stay together. We had a beautiful cottage with a cozy fireplace, everything was nicely decorated, clean and you looked out over the meadows which was very soothing.

Both dinner and breakfast were very tasty! Breakfast is very extensive and something for everyone. Dinner is fresh and you can taste this in the dishes.

We would have liked the wellness to be more extensive. This is the only downside we could find. Plenty of room outside to do some extra with this;)

The quality of the estate is consistently high, tranquility, appearance, hospitable and a nice swimming pool. Too bad the sauna wasn't open yet.

Two comments, otherwise my assessment would have been higher. Firstly, the lack of the minibar. Where this was previously always present, it disappeared after the renovation. Reportedly due to construction error, but this seems easy to solve to me. As an alternative, a cooler with ice was offered and your own bottle of wine could be put in the refrigerator.
Secondly, I still find the shower cabin quite small after the renovation. Can be solved by eliminating the bathtub for a number of rooms.
Finally, the lack of air conditioning is also a negative for this money.

Wonderfully quiet, hospitable reception. Estate nice to add a little extra.

Breakfast again excellent and plenty of choice. It's nice that you can have breakfast until 10:30 am.
