We spent a great 4 days at Wildthout with owners Niek and Petra van Duuren. Wildthout/Ommen is surrounded by nature and is great to walk or bike with well-kept bicycle paths. This time we not only stayed there but had dinner too. Few places serve a better meal with accompanying wine, then Wildthout. Their new rooms in the back are very quiet and pleasant and in the morning, a healthy breakfast awaits you... so a no brainer. The young owners organize all sorts of events one being a whisky tasting for which he had an expert fly in. Regrettably we left earlier.

We had booked the 3-day asparagus package. The wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was of excellent quality and very varied, with asparagus as the main theme. Too bad the portions were on the small side for a big eater. After making a comment about this to the waiter, the advice was given to order fries and salad (for an additional fee). The second evening, at the start of dinner, I indicated that I was a big eater and the waiter agreed to discuss the options with the kitchen. Unfortunately the portions remained identical to my partner's.
Unfortunately, the owner could not handle criticism and became very irritated about my comments during checkout. According to her, the portions were tailored to the average eater to prevent waste and there had never been any complaints. When I commented that customization could possibly be provided, as suggested by the waiter on the second evening, she became even more irritated and indeed the fries and salad were the alternative for a fee. According to her, the mediocre WiFi in the hotel and room was due to my provider, while WiFi is really offered by the hotel.

The outing to the asparagus grower with lunch (included) was very educational, partly because of the enthusiastic asparagus grower.
All in all, we had a nice meal, but it will not be repeated.

We stayed at the Charme Hotel Wildthout in Ommen from April 5 to 7 and had booked the three-day culinary package.
We certainly don't regret this, both the four-course and the five-course menu were excellent. Each course was a sensation on the palate, the presentation alone was inviting, each dish was a very good combination of flavors, and the wines served were also of excellent quality. We have stayed in many hotels, but this kitchen was top notch, congratulations to the chef and his team.
What may also be mentioned, the staff was very friendly and attentive.
The breakfast is not very extensive, but sufficient choice.
The room was neat and clean, only a larger closed cupboard to store your clothes would be an improvement, the storage space was too tight.
We will definitely come back to this pleasant hotel.

A beautiful hotel, friendliness and hospitality are of paramount importance here. Rooms neatly arranged, clean and neatly maintained. The owner and wife, together with the team, regularly organize a surprise for the guests, so we had a beautiful walking tour with guidance and delicious hot chocolate with a warm filled cookie along the way. It was game that was on the menu, so we were also extra surprised with the blowing of a horn by a group of hunters. Totally awesome.
The game package we booked was also excellent. Enjoyed it immensely. Quality hospitality with a personal touch makes this a new favorite on our list

Wildthout is a modest hotel in a beautiful touristic town. The rooms are clean and a little outdated. The hotel staff is very friendly and cooperative. The bar and especially the restaurant are of high quality. We had a surprise meal and accompanying wines.
The different courses were beautiful and very tasty. The highlight was the main course: we did not yet expect to have roe in August; it was very tender en lightly cooked with its own gravy.
If you appreciate a great dinner, Wildthout can be recommended.

chefs’ 4 course dinner on a windless summer evening on the terrace at over 20 degrees; the chef had a beautiful menu with a special and tasteful starter including fresh herring and cucumber sorbet, a fantastic hot intermediate dish with turbot, mussel, chorizo foam and saffron and a main course with sukade and tenderloin of the beef. Finally, a dessert with wild peach and mango sorbet, all with matching wine, good hospitality and smooth service. In short: if you want to enjoy yourself you have to be here!

In a word, fantastic. Welcoming reception, we really felt welcome. One non-alcoholic cocktail was made for us a la minute. The dishes were perfectly prepared, culinary taste experiences of all dishes. It was a wonderful evening.

Hospitality par excellence. Upon arrival you will meet the owner (Niek van Duuren) outside for a warm welcome. The couple has a great team of young people. Everyone is friendly and does their utmost to make you happy. And it works! Excellent game for food and a great atmosphere. This really is a weekend away. The walk through the forest (the boss comes along and serves chocolate milk and syrup waffles) is great. An excellent lesson in history and nature.

We had a wonderful weekend and ate really delicious game. Everything was fresh and homemade.

This is where you need to be, thank you! We will definitely come back.

Friendly reception. Nice clean room with comfortable beds, a great shower, coffee making facility, outside seating, and comfy chairs inside. The 3-course dinner, included in our arrangement and served by lovely knowledgeable staff, was absolutely beautiful. The breakfast buffet was fine, though we have enjoyed more extensive ones.
All in all a lovely experience.
