The Bowlish House Hotel is a great place to stay and turned out to be the highlight of our visit to England. The hotel is a historic home in Shepton Mallet with clean rooms, fantastic restaurant and a very friendly helpful staff. It is beautifully decorated with antiques and collectibles giving the rooms warmth and richness of colour. The sitting...

A welcome contrast to the stereotypical modern bland hotel environment, Bowlish House offers an informal, yet characterful alternative with personal attention, good menus and tastefully presented food. Complimentary WiFi. The owners went out of their way to be helpful at a sad time for our family and our review conveys the highest regard for them. DF, Chester

My family and I have just stayed at Bowlish House on a weekend visit to see friends in Shepton Mallet. The proprietors, Leonard and Martin, were very friendly and helpful and provided some good advice on restaurants in the local area. The breakfast was well prepared and the menu was full. From the full English breakfast to Smoked Salmon with...

Good looking building which, understand, was reinvented by the Clarks family. Lovely looking hotel set on the corner of the main road. The owners were really great and help us with places of interest to visit and just how far we had to travel. The food was an added bonus. Our room was in the attic so had to carry...

Bowlish House is a wonderful old building largely dating to the 1730s and retaining most of its original features including fireplaces and panelling. Downstairs there is a bar and a sitting room and a dining room at the back of the house. My bedroom was a good size with a walk-in wardrobe complete with small fridge and a modern bathroom....

Our family of 9 went to bowlish for Christmas lunch we were very disappointed by the service. One of our party was gluten free and we told them this two months before but when we arrived we had champagne and canapés but when we asked for gluten free canapes they said they had none. The only thing they supplied gluten...

My partner & I stayed here for two nights the week before Christmas as we passed through the area visiting relatives. We were warmly welcomed after a long trip and given a lovely quiet room on the first floor. The hotel was not offering evening meals as it was Christmas week and being busy with booked parties and whilst this...

We needed a room for the night near Brockley and booked at Bowling House. We found it offered a quiet and relaxing retreat from the busy traffic in Shelton Mallett. The bedroom was tidy and comfortable and the adequate breakfast served in an attractive front room.

Had a wonderful meal here to celebrate a 21st birthday. From the canapés served with a glass of champagne through to the most delicious strawberry creme brûlée I have ever tasted, everything was perfect. The service was equally first class.
