Booked double room for 2 x adults 1 x child (8 years old) arrived into room and only one double bed, no child bed. Asked at reception and was told it’s my fault for not asking for a separate child bed (never been required at any other hotel, including Hilton) Reception staff attitude was appalling. Room was a disgrace: carpet dirty, unit dirty & marked, bed base damaged, shower head holder broken, only 2 large towels available and one had holes. Expected much better from Hilton Hotels

Spent 4 days here last weekend using this hotel as my base for the Great North Run. Located right next to Newcastle Airport which also has its own Metro Stop and is a direct 25 minute service from the city centre itself. When we arrived (early and our fault) the room wasn’t ready but that wasn’t an issue so we were offered to leave our bags at the hotel so we could explore for a few hours. When we returned to check in the whole process was quick and efficient with social distancing measures in place. Our room was located on the third of 3 floors and the room itself was spacious with a bath and shower in the bathroom, a comfy large double bed and the usual other facilities you would expect. The staff were friendly throughout our stay. We didn’t eat at the restaurant out of choice for what I needed as pre run food but the menu looked good. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will be returning myself. Oh and the cookies at reception that we received at check in were yummy!!!

Reception didn’t seem remotely interested in checking me or other guests in, very short and frosty, no explanation of any facilities, just sign here, here’s your key and cookie. Asked later on that evening the same woman about breakfast, abrupt answer as if I was inconveniencing her when asking how breakfast worked. Room was fine although a little dated, shower had gunge in places and black mould around the edges. One member of morning restaurant staff was particularly rude and patronising to a foreign guest who asked him to repeat what he said as it was too fast to understand. An additional £68 was added to my bill with no explanation after check out, called to ask why and was told they hadn’t collected the whole rate when I checked in, (paid in advance the full cost) when I explained this they again said I hadn’t paid the correct rate, only said they would refund it when I pointed out the rate on my booking confirmation was what I paid before the additional charge, no apology. On the whole I regret changing plans to stay here and was very disappointed with the experience. The only highlight was being served in the restaurant by 2 young guys (at least 1 had a trainee badge) who’s customer service skills were excellent, reception and the rude morning waiter could learn alot from them!

Booked in with little effort. Went to room To find out allocated a twin rather than the double paid for. Went back to reception and they explained the mix up, which I got . But then 90’minutes sat in reception waiting for new room. Eventually get room And suggest they may want to give me a drink for the bad experience, which the friendly receptionist did, but should I have to ask. Went for dinner and the experience got worse, awful service from a rude waitress (who actually i apologised to later and was actually really nice), but 3 attempts and deliveries to get my order right was shocking, and took nearly an hour. When I complained to the duty manager he was more interested in defending his staff member as ‘one of the best’ than acknowledging that I was bit miffed. The highlight was the young man who served me who was polite, understanding and extremely apologetic. And finally needed to ring reception with a request. Tried 3 times and each time call rang out and was terminated. Eventually walked down 3 floors and explained that I’d been trying to ring ‘oh she’s on her own!’ Why? It’s an international airport and you had hundreds of guests, why is your reception not staffed appropriately? The plus side. The room was extremely comfortable and had all you need, and alongside the excellent service from the tour man in the restaurant was the only highlight. Avoid.

Overnight stay the night before our holiday. Fantastic customer service from Claire on reception prior to arrival, who really went above and beyond helping us with our room allocation. Family suite had great runway views and very comfortable beds but we felt it could have been cleaner. There was what looked like a small piece of glass on the bathroom floor behind the toilet and the glass coffee table was wobbly on it's base and very unstable - my husband fixed this quickly, but expected better from Hilton. We stayed on a Saturday night and the hotel was busy with a wedding and murder mystery night function. We did not feel particularly covid-comfortable in the bar area due to the amount of people piling in and queueing for drinks, it appeared just the one small bar area was available to all guests, so we sat outside with our coats on instead, as did quite a few other customers. Evening meal at Fratello's restaurant was really nice - food good and whilst it took a long time to clear our plates (we suspected due to staff shortages), the lady in charge was very accommodating and offered to discount our desserts as a result. Overall a good hotel in a fantastic position and we would stay again - just a little more care and attention required when cleaning the rooms.
