Delicious lunch today . Our food was well presented . Each course was served on hot plates - always a plus! Our first visit to the newly opened restaurant . Warm welcome as ever. Staff couldn't do enough for us . Looking forward to many more meals at the Keys.

There's a good choice on the menu with some interesting dishes. The food was really tasty and good value. The service was very friendly and efficient. The smaller room where we ate had a cosy and pleasant atmosphere with a log burner. The good attention to detail on all fronts made it a relaxing and enjoyable visit.

Judy & David have worked hard at tastefully refurbishing the Pub creating an excellent dining area and small bar to service this addition. When we arrived we were welcomed by a warm log burner and friendly atmosphere. The meal was well cooked and waitresses efficient and friendly too. We have no hesitation in highly recommending this venue to friends &... More

We went to try the new restaurant on the opening night. I went with an open mind and ready to accept some teething troubles - you can't have a dress rehearsal for a restaurant! There where none. The service, the food and the ambiance where all as good as one would expect from an established, smooth running operation. The menu... More

Selattyn was lucky with an old pub selling good beer, it is now even luckier with a fantastic new restaurant and welcoming staff. The new menu gives a good selection of high quality country fare, with some of the best deserts we have tasted. We sampled three last night and hope to sample some more in the future. The restaurant... More

My family live near Selattyn, so my great granddad used to come to this pub, and we've just kept coming. It's often to be found in good pub guides as it's an authentic English country pub, complete with wooden beams, open fire place and variety of beers. It's changed hands in the last few years, which means some renovations have... More

This is a gem of a local pub and I went with my sister and her partner to see an American band from West Virginia called "The Corn Potato String Band" who were fantastic. The staff at the pub were very helpful and courteous and I can recommend this place as a good friendly pub

On a short break with friends the landlord and lady were so welcoming and friendly even though we were a bit worse for wear and probably very annoying! The locals and other staff were friendly too. Such a fantastic place full of character couldn't recommend highly enough

Arrived safely through our stormy trip from Geordieland and spent the first evening in the pub. Welcoming landlord, far too drinkable beer and friendly chatty locals. The pub is still being 'constructed' but that did not hinder our enjoyment in the least. We set up a tab and settled down in the front room with the crossword. Log burner aglow... More

Very friendly people and a lovely local village pub, not many of these about these days. The beer and cider is excellent and the pub is very quaint. Stayed locally and visited the pub a few times will definitely visit again soon.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Cross Keys has been in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for 23 years and is one of only three pubs in Shropshire which is listed in CAMRA's Inventory of Historic Pubs with Unspoilt Interiors. The Cross Keys is a conversation pub, no Juke Box or recorded music, but live Irish music on Thursday nights and music events from time to time in our function room. The Cross Keys is located in the quiet village of Selattyn, close to Offa's Dyke footpath and 3 miles from the market town of Oswestry. The historic towns of Chester and Shrewsbury are only 30 minutes away. A post office and shop are less than 5 minutes by car and there are numerous places to eat within 15 minutes drive. The area is quiet, very beautiful and will be especially attractive to walkers, bird watchers, golfers, fishermen and those who appreciate fine beer. Attached to The Cross Keys is a Self Contained Self Catering Cottage, this is close to Offa's Dyke and ideal for walkers. ... more   less
