These are my thoughts regarding this resort:
PROs:
1. Easy to find
2. Easy reservation - we had ours via phone reservation
3. Great pools
4. Beautiful scenic view of sunrise/sunset.
5. Friendly resort owners and staff
6. Spacious executive villa (3 br) it says in their resort info that it can fit 6 pax but in reality, it can fit triple of that pax.
7. Executive villa area has own pool
8. Spacious parking area

CONS:
1. Executive villa:
> Executive villa seems not maintained well. Considering the resort was opened just last year, some areas of the villa are worn out (stained and smelly curtains, rusty faucets, exposed circuit breakers, worn out couch).
> Lacks the following: Lighting in room balconies; bathroom rugs; bathroom utility/toiletry racks; and shower curtain for the bath tub.
> Restaurant: Understaffed resto; inattentive staff; waiting time is loooong; food and coffee are served cold; and expensive food choices (not at par with quality)
> Room service: They charged us Php 300 for food delivery from restaurant and you need to pay it as soon as food is delivered. No WIFI. No phone/intercom to connect to front desk or restaurant.
> Front Desk: They said they "accept credit/debit" cards, but when you hand your card over to them, they will say "we have a problem with our terminal so you need to pay cash."
> Others: Massage service was a rip-off. The ladies who did massage service were in a hurry in finishing up their service.

Overall, executive villa is good for big groups. I hope they can improve the facilities considering we pay about 15k+ per night.

Location is a few kilometers farther from the well known, busy resorts, and is not near the main highway.

Beachfront property it is.

All of the villas/rooms/facade were made of (Romblon) marble, giving a different feel from the usual hotels.
Has adequate parking space.

Rooms were very basic, equipped with some furnitures and TV, the beds were of good quality (spingcoiled with top matress for the suites). Colors may somewhat be monotone. A/C is ok. It would be better if room refrigerators were provided.

Bathrooms were clean, fixtures were of quality, hot and cold shower were provided - towels, soap, shampoo, toothbrush toothpaste were porovided.

The restaurant offers a good view of the sea and has a perfect sunset view, has wide open windows and high ceiling to make you feel the sea breeze.
Food was great (most of them).

Hopefully therewill be a convenience store in the resort or near the resort since its location is quite isolated.

The pool has a nice view of the sea, and the water is warm, but could be better if it was an infinity pool with underwater lights, the main pool is not ideal for kids (depth is from 4 ft to 6 ft.)

The service - excellent. What this new resort came short in facilities, the crew makes up for it in service. They will accommodate your needs even if they will need to go the extra mile.

The owners were great, friendly, and very inspiring. It will be nice to have a chat with them while watching the sunset.

Overall, this is a resort to watch out for in the coming months... indeed it is a good resort to discover.

It was a sudden trip...trying to check and explore the difference of surfing in Baler and San Juan La Union.
The ocean waves in San Juan is quite exciting and intimidating as a newbie surfer but glad we tried this. It's the perfect waves fits to the challenge I'm looking in practicing our surfer skills. I had difficulty finding our family accommodation that fits our needs and comforts. Top of my list is Great Bed Great Location. After surfing the net for 3 hours able to see this property listing. Looks promising and worth a try. ....and off we go after securing our booking. Thanks to Gio who attended my call and inquiries.
I've chosen the Superior Room. Facade didn't disappoint its aesthetic value.
We'll be back and I'n looking forward to get the Suite Villa and their promising Executive Villas. Seems a Medieval accommodation concept adds up in my Hotel preferences :)
Tip:
request for rooms with high A/C power
Experience their dining. One of my best shrimps and tuna menu I've tried. Cooked in perfections along with its steamed vegetable side dish.
Suggestion to Mgt:
Consider investing or have add on ionizer / diffuser / scent mist in each room
It'll be a great welcoming scent upon entering each room.
This property adds up in my MilesChoice rating. Looking forward having my next visit in your Villas.
P.S
Though we got a little lost... Next visitors can now easily locate their entrance. I've plotted their property in Waze. :)

Not worth the price. Rooms were dirty and the pool looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time. Changed rooms once and my husband and I were still not impressed. We ended up only staying for one night. Thankfully we found a better and cheaper hotel nearby.

Not a comfortable place to stay. Here are the reasons:
1. Rooms are wide but not neat. Spider webs are present everywhere.
2. Tiles with rust
3. Water pressure is almost nothing.
4. Refrigerator with molds.
5. No kiddie pool.
6. Plated breakfast is fair.
7. Air-con unit is too small for the room.

Overall, I will not recommend this place. Not family friendly, though staffs are good.

Came here with a few of my girlfriends. We were really excited to stay here at first because of the location. But it ended up being a disappointment. The room wasn’t very clean and had a weird smell. There were so many ants and mosquitoes in the room. Also the ceiling in the bathroom was leaking. I would not stay here again for recommend to friends.

We were a 12-person group celebrating my boyfriend's 85-year-old grandfather's birthday, all the way from Manila. We stayed in the executive villa for 2 nights, thinking Villas Buenavista would be a good venue for a quiet staycation with friends and family by the sea.

In the morning after our first night, I went to the poolside, where 5 other people from our group were already swimming and lounging. The restaurant area, which connects to the poolside, had some comfortable wooden loungers that I thought would be more suitable for their grandfather to read his morning paper on. Seeing that our group was out by the pool, I motioned to lift the wooden lounger out of the restaurant area (a couple of feet away) -- but was stopped by a woman that was seated with her family nearby. "The furniture stays inside!" she snapped loudly and sternly and started shaking her head, making hand gestures. It was very condescending and rude. When one of my companions asked if they owned the resort, the group pretended to be deaf. I settled for some cheap plastic furniture to seat my boyfriend's grandfather, and the rude family continued with their breakfast, pretending now to be blind. The staff later confirmed that the woman and the rest of the people on the table were the owners of Villas Buenavista.

When we finally checked out, I heard that "someone" had gone up to one of our guests, who was staying at another room separate from the villa, to apologize for their rude behavior. They didn't apologize to the grandfather, or anyone in my boyfriend's immediate family, or myself. I understand if the furniture stays inside, but there were other ways for that woman to have reacted. Of course, since there is no phone to the front desk, even if you're staying at the executive villa, we didn't get a call to acknowledge the incident either.

All in all, the stay left a bad taste in our mouths. I would NOT recommend Villas Buenavista. The family that owns it looks absolutely hassled that they have to have people coming to stay at the resort, using their facilities, and availing of their lackluster breakfast and service. You won't find the signature hospitality of La Union in this place. Choose somewhere else to stay.

Beautiful, marble built hotel, high cathedral ceilings. Tiny TV and A/C, no phones in room. Friendly staff.

The only road into VB is through a low point that becomes a lake 1-2 meters deep when it rains. Have been held prisoner here for two days, unable to get in or out in our van. Water is now almost waist deep and not even those big *ss SUVs can get through without flooding.

Owner spent a fortune on Romblon marble, but cant build a road to get in and out. SMH

I found this hotel in Trip Advisor and was adamant at first because of the mix reviews. I guess they addressed the negative reviews. We arrived earlier than standard check in time (2 pm) but when they found out that we came all the way from Manila, they allowed us to have an early check in. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom has a tub if you want to have a bubble bath after a long swim. The towels, linen, rugs and curtains were newly washed and they replaced the bath towels and guest kits every day of our stay. I love the monochromatic elegance of this building. It blends well with the color of the sandy beach and compliments the beautiful view of this sunset. It is roughly 3km far from the main surfing area which is perfect for those who just want to chill. They also offer surfing lessons, massage and a trip to the falls for a fee. There is a clean pool overlooking their restaurant where you can watch that picturesque sunset. We were given complimentary breakfast with hot coffee which were okay. We ordered some dishes for dinner which were good but not that superb. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our requests. There are huts near the beach and a volleyball net. But what we enjoyed the most was making smores in a bonfire at night. We requested if we can make a bonfire and the staff gathered some woods for a minimal fee and helped us in setting it up. The sands were fine and clean and there weren't much people around so you can lie down and gaze at the sky full of stars while listening to the waves and RELAX!

NOTE: The signal of the Wifi isn't that strong and reliable. If you are heavily dependent on the internet even on vacation, you better bring your own pocket WiFi.

The place is very calm. Perfect if you want a quiet escape from the busy city of the Metro.
Attendants are so friendly, the manager took the extra-mile to give everything we needed during the trip. Waiters were also very nice and polite.
The room is squeaky clean; as well as the toilet.
Food was very good, too!
Room rates are budget-friendly.

We only stayed here because all other nearby resorts were fully booked. Well, it turned out to be the best idea!

Traveled as a couple. We will definitely come back and bring our family next time!
