I have contacted Costa villa on room availability a week before 04 June 2014. During confirmation, it takes ages to receive booking confirmation via SMS or Email, despite of our numerous calls to Costa Villa for the confirmation. During the Email conversation with resort, I have informed them that we'll be arriving on an early check-in (our booking dates are from 04-6 June 2014) we get to the place around 4am on the 4th of June 2014. The reception asked me to PHP 500.00 for an early check-in, we have booked on Rm 7, but at that time Rm 7 is still occupied he turn us to Rm 1. After few arguments we accepted and pay the total amount of PHP 2,000.00 room charge or PHP 1,500.00 and PHP 500.00 for the early check-in.

At breakfast we had ordered tocino and loganisa (the longanisa isnot properly cook), we are surprised being served with a "wet" fried rice and nearly to be spoiled, We have ask the waiter to change our rice to plain steam rice instead. The food rating is "failed" 3/10.

On the 04 June 2014 day time, we moved out to visit some relatives and friends, and we get to the resort at around 4pm. At night I have left from friend alone in the resort as I have a dinner with a family friend at Montemar Village San Juan. I told my friend to just catch some dinner at the resort restaurant. But could you imagine, the restaurant was closed for the night and my friend did not able to eat his dinner, good that we have chocolates we bought at DXB duty free. I asked the reception why nobody in the restaurant to serve dinner, she said that their chef has gone home early and no one available to prepare food. The was very disgusting on a resort not having his own restaurant for his visitors.

On that occasion we have decided to check-out early instead of our planned check-out of 06 June 2014. The reception have also asked us to pay the booked date even though we have check-out early, that was as per their policy. Without further ado, I just pay another PHP 1,920.00 (PHP 1,500.00 for the room and and some extra from the bar).

Sorry but I can not recommend this kind of resort to friends by now. The whole resort need more improvement specially on the "FOOD". Please clean that "spider cobweb" on your Rm 1 WC.

the resort and the rooms were a bit small than what the pictures on the web actually exhibit. the staff however was great and very friendly. the free breakfast had limited options but was okay. the pool was small but decent. the beach was not-so-conjusive for swimming and other activities during our visit due to the monsoon rains. i would most probably give this resort around 2.5 stars but would give the staff around 4 stars.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights. The location next to the beach was great. The service was less than average. The hotel needs updating. The toilet was leaking. There were holes in the wall. I paid for an ocean view, but had absolutely no view of the ocean. The swimming pool is too small. The mattresses are not comfortable. If you only want a place to stay cheaply, then this is for you. I did not recommend it. I think you would do better to spend a little extra money and stay at a nice hotel. This one didn't even offer toothpaste or soap or shampoo.

My advice is to stay somewhere else.

I was on a business/pleasure trip, this Hotel looked very cute from the front. You can't judge a book by its cover. We booked a basic room. We could not have been more disappointed. The night front desk attendant did not speak any English.

The room was very small, with the bed and TV taking up almost the whole room. The WiFi does not work in the rooms, only by the front desk. The CR was so small, you have to turn sideways to get past the toilet and into the small shower. The plumbing is very old. The Air Conditioning is very old and could barely cool the room. The Furniture is old and tired. The bedding and towels are old and tired. The TV is old and small. The Restaurant is old and dirty...I looked in the kitchen and it was disgusting.

This place is advertised as beach front, but it is not. To access the beach you have to make your way very carefully through an active construction site (very dangerous).

They are building some new rooms on part of the hotel, I hope that they are better than the old rooms. Besides the new paint on the front of the building, it looks like the owner has not spent a Peso on any other part of the Hotel.

This is the worst stay ever on my entire life. We stayed in room 6 which is has a foul odour on the entire room. The television signal is so bad as well as cellular reception is bad too. It is better to bring a pocket wifi because this "hotel" doesn't have a wifi, cellular data is useless here because you will get no signal on LTE. You don't have to stay here very long. Just get a good hotel and don't look for a cheap price because you get what you pay for.

No internet inside, even if you're going to use your mobile data. We're a couple but they only give us 1 towel. No toilet paper. No trash can (This is the worst). You can't sleep so well because the toilet smells so bad. The overall condition of the room is like a homeless shelter. The breakfast which is included at the price is like a prison food. There's a tv but not working. For that price you can find much better hotets or beach resorts. Never again, thank you.

The staff was great, very approachable and friendly. The place was comfy and homey. We had our room facing the beach. It was a relaxing experience. The room is cozy too. The room and CR were clean. I loved the whole area since you are free to roam around. Though the choice of food was limited, but the food was great. The cook was very friendly and accommodating. We wanted sinigang, and there was a shortage of vegetables, and yet he found a way to provide them come dinnertime. The surf lesson was fun, too. The instructors were very friendly. All in all, it was a great experience - both relaxing and fun/adventurous at the same time. Would love to go back. :-)

There are only two things that can happen when the owner runs the place: a good accommodating atmosphere, or a total disaster. Mine was a disaster. The old guy is not friendly and not accommodating. The rooms are really small for the price (2k???). The kitchen is the worse, food was practically bad and the cook is worse. He acts like diva. One item was very salty.

dirty pool, wifi signal is ZERO, dirty kitchen, poor service. NO ice on drinks, PRICE is unreasonably high for the poor service and amenities. BEEN THERE ONCE AND NEVER WILL I GO BACK AGAIN. When i went near the kitchen to ask for a drinking glass, i saw how the lady crew served an unwashed drinking glass and just wiped it dry with a yucky towel used in wiping the tables. That glass was given to one of the diners. Having seen that gross service, i had to wash d glass i asked for inside our room. Grrrrrr!

What's good in here, near the beach and near flotsam jetsam.

Here's the badnews: (Not recommended)
Since the room we availed is a family room we expect that the room is big.
The bedroom is good for 6 person as per them.

First, when we arrived (lunch time) the kitchecn tools are incomplete.
There's only pan for cooking. Plates, spoons, forks and glasses are dusty.
They even told us to use the pan for cooking the rice. Seriously?!
There's only one electric fan in the first floor and it is super dusty. Eew!

Second floor:
The bathroom / comfort room is upstairs which makes the room look small, smelly and uncomfortable.
the bedroom is not good for 6person. It is good for 3 persons only!
They gave matress for the other 3 person.
(they should have specified that the space of the whole room is for 6 person not the bedroom alone.)

The bathroom has no exhaust fan, only a small window.
The air-con is aligned to the bedroom. (we will definitely get pneumonia if we were exposed there for days)
The TV installed is aligned in the bedroom as well. When you're watching all you can see is your feet. LOL
The door knob of the bathroom is damaged. So what we did is to advise our friends that someone is inside the bathroom.

Restaurant.
-As per menu-
We oredered King Kebab (good for 2-3 person) and Basmati rice (1-2person)
The food is very disappointing. The King Kebab is good for 1 (if male) or 2 (if 2 girls are sharing the food)
the Basmati rice is not good for 2 person. it is good for a woman who is in a diet.
the rice i think is 3/4 cup only.

There's no fire exit in each houses/suites.
The fire extinguisher is expired.

I dont reccommend Costa Villa in San Juan La Union.
