Detailed Reviews
Been staying multiple times at Flotsam, and I can say that they give you the simple, convenient, low key stay -- especially during weekdays. The volume of people during weekends are pretty big, so if you want to just have a quick peaceful getaway, do weekdays. Tried staying in the sharing AC Bedroom and the Kubo Hut and it was manageable.
Breakfast is included. Shared bathroom and sinks are available and clean, as well as towels and blankets provided. Personal lockers provided for the shared rooms.
Tried staying during March and Early -ber months in Kubo and the weather was okay and it was manageable, each bed has solo fans aside from the fans inside the Kubo itself.
Location is a little bit far from the main places in San Juan but you can ride a tricycle or actually walk it if you're into walking.
Front desk has been always been accommodating during my stays, you can leave your things in the reception (they provide lockers already) if you want to roam around after/before your check in/out.
Food is pricey but you kinda pay for the name, ambiance, and the place itself so somehow reasonable. They are closed on Tuesdays.
Overall, Floatsam is my to go place to stay in La Union.

We arrived at 7 in the evening on Friday night. Since we are tired from a long trip, we decided to have dinner at their restaurant but we are disappointed with the long queue to order our food and drinks. Yes, no one takes the order and you have to pick it up from the counter once the order is ready. But their tapsilog from their free breakfast is so delicious. In the afternoon, we went to Dampa which is 5mins walk away from the hostel, they offer very affordable and delicious seafood. We also rented the umbrellas by the beach for only 400 pesos for the whole day. Before we leave, we had a few drinks on their bar. A bit disappointed with their cocktails, since I can't taste the alcohol at all. But Shoutout to Oreo, the bartender. thanks for your great service. We enjoyed more staying at the barcounter than dancing and partying with a lot of people. also to the peeps at the reception, they allow us to leave our things when we check out since we wanted to stay a bit longer. Just a tip, if you wanted to take the trike going somewhere, better ask the ates and kuyas at the reception so they can assist you with the correct fare. You guys are awesome! Great experience but not recommended for people who stayed long time in a foreign country.

Holds one of the best parties in town. There are plenty of beer stations and great music during the night! We stayed at the Garden Patio Room. Had a hard time booking other hotels near the area, turned out you had to book about 3 weeks early for you get a lot of options.
Room was pretty decent, just a few steps away Kabsat but definitely, you'll have home court advantage during the night parties. 🤣

Save yourself from disappointment. This hostel is overhyped, overpriced, and has a very rude staffs.
The receptionist lack customer service as if she didnt want anyone to check in. We arrive at 2:00 pm (check in time) and the room was not ready, I asked what time it’ll be available and she said, “wait lang, wait lang, wala pa nga yung susi” in a very rude way as if she didn't want us to be there. We paid for 4,850 pesos per night to be treated like we’re asking them a favor to stay there. 😂
The music at the bar is straight up spotify playlist, nothing wrong with that, but there’s an event on that Saturday night so we were expecting for better quality of music. Lazy dj.
Drinks and food were overpriced, too. 800 pesos for a bucket of WARM beer. Such a waste of time and money.

Paid about Php 5100 for a room for 3 persons. Super small room, too crowded for 3 persons, no basic provisions typically seen in hostels/B&B (like toiletries, slippers, etc). For the price, you can get a better room. You’ll pay for the “crowd” as this is a popular place for party-goers. Better option would be to rent somewhere else then just go here for the party

Visited their restaurant from our Baguio trip. We went there Sunday Morning so the crowd was out and resting, avoiding the mid day heat. Place is cozy, pet friendly, and accepts online payments. They also allowed us to charge our mobile phones. Food is good but the best part is direct access to the beach whenever you feel like it.

The old flotsam was way better having old songs that everyone can relate. Better have a DJ that listens to the demand of the crowd rather than pursuing a music that will dissatisfy the mood of the crowd into a mad crowd. Please have a listening and empathic DJ

We went to La Union and try to eat in Flotsam. The food was so nice and tasty. The serving was big and lovely. But the service need to improve. We bought Tapa for breakfast, but in the menu it's not mentioned that with egg, so we expect that we have to buy egg separately. The cashier not even informed us even she hear that we are talking about add-ons eggs for tapa. Luckily, the food was so nice so we just don't bother what happened.

Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel has a restaurant/bar wherein you can party with your friends or just enjoy the sea view with your love ones. Unfortunately, there was a liquor ban when we went there but they still have a DJ and the vibes is really chill at that time. I can only imagine if it was not liquor ban that time, it could've been so much fun.

Flotsam is known for a party place, we stayed there for two nights, and I can say that it was an average stay. I think, it is perfect to say that you get what you paid for, given that they are front beach and they have a party place that almost everyone can enjoy. However, I cannot say that we love their front office service, and as someone who is very patient since I am from the Hospitality industry. Their breakfast is my favorite and really enjoyed the night life, although the DJ is not that good that night but the people are nice tho. Balanced.
