Both hotel and restaurant are gone. The loss of this iconic hotel is a terrible blow to the danish nation. All bookings suspended.Fortunately no-one was hurt. It is to early to inform you of any plan to rebuild the hotel.

We went for a lunch excursion to the North Sea. So picturesque and takes one back to a simple opulent era. We were on the hunt for Danish oysters and found it here. It's was majestic to sit in the sun, with a glass on champagne, and the view of the coast line. Cheers!!! All the way

Ask for room in the main building and your own bathroom, remember to book long in advance. This historic hotel was built in 1925, finished as it is today in 1934, and is the most charming beach hotel near the ocean. We had a lunch - recommend the grilled sole - on the arrival day, morning bath at 8.30 the... More

We stayed for some nights in this wonderful place literally in the dunes on the west coast of Jutland - maybe 100 yds. from the ocean. So location is wonderful, the views are simply unique, there is a wonderful restaurant (separate review). The rooms are relatively small and some share bathrooms. Also they are also quite expensive which is probably... More

We got the idea to travel Denmark's westcoast from the tv-series "Badehotellet", a story of people living and working in a beach hotel in the 1920's. We stumbled upon this place on one evening and they happened to have a cancellation, so we had an opportunity to stay the night. Had we known more about the chef who runs the... More

This hotel from 1925 is an adorable time warp. The location is unbeatable: Right in the sand dunes by the untamed coastline of the North Sea. We stayed for 2 days in a spacious room in the annex (the rooms in the main building may be smaller) with a fabulous sea view. The room is very clean and the beds... More

Fantastic food, good prices but BAD service, they warn you that things go slow, but this slow, that's too much. Make sure to get a table at the sea-side of the hotel, I had the impression that they were more interested in the hotel-guests that were placed there, as opposed to the dinner guests like us. What a shame.

This historic and famous hotel is in a stunning isolated location. Driving through the forests on our approach I could tell this was going to be something special, and was not disappointed. The hotel itself is a wooden building, with 38 rooms, and the whole place has an incredible atmosphere of peace and tranquility. Unfortunately we were not staying, but... More

If you like nature - and good food - you will love this hotel. Located on its own on a remote beach that must be well over 10 miles long. Lovely fine sand, the beach is very wide with high sand dunes behind it. The hotel is an institution with people coming here from Copenhagen year after year. You can... More
