Lovely and charming setting! It was a delight to enjoy the peaceful and beautiful environment and to marvel at the sophisticated interior decoration... We were overhelmed by the Comte and Comtesse's hospitality and warm welcome. Chateau de la Barre is a must!

You will know them as Guy and Marnie and they will make you feel as though you are a part of their historical family for your entire stay. Marnie is a...

All I can say is, definitely do the Grand Siecle Dinner. It was the highlight of our stay at the Chateau. The hosts here will go out of their way to help you. All in all, a wonderful (if expensive) addition to our time in the Loire.

Lovely greeting with a bottle of home made Cider, lots of information about what to do,reservations made for restaurants and golf, nothing was a bother to our hosts Guy and Marnie. I was shocked to read the previous post on TA. My experience with hosts, Guy and Marnie, was completely different and they could not have been kinder or more welcoming. We enjoyed every minute of our three nights at the Chateau We were in the Suite Marin de Vanssay which was certainly the grandest room I've stayed in. Huge, filled...

An amazing place to visit with great rooms and items to view. The problem is the hosts who do not seem to enjoy letting visitors into their home. After a reasonable welcome the forced charm gradually degraded over what was just a one-night stopover for us. No lock on your room was a little odd. The food and dinner was...

Thank you for your compliments on the great rooms and items to view even if our antique doors have no locks as you noticed. We feel sincerely sorry that you felt unwelcome in our home. Perhaps what you relate happened at a particularly stressful moment for us, nobody is perfect and we apologize! We are sincerely happy to meet our...

What more to say. I went with my with for five nights in late July and we loved it. Each day was better than the previous. While its location can be a bit challenging for some of the day trips we took, the room, grounds, and most importantly the hosts made it an incredibly special and unique trip. Guy and...

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay in our home, and we were delighted to have the opportunity to get to know you. We have fond memories of many laughs together during drinks , dinner, and preparing the hot air balloon for take off, among other times. Your drawing our attention to the noisy plumbing in your room was most...

This place is a real gem. It is run by Guy and Marnie who offer a very personal service. The rooms are lovely, and although the house is packed with art and furnishings worthy of a museum, the place is very much alive and relaxed. The food was excellent, but was very special was the attention that Marnie gives to...
