Our cottage was very spacious, comfortable and cosy. We arrived fairly late in the evening but received warm welcome from Ross and Pip and their adorable "guard dog" :-) Ross shared with us his local knowledge and gave us great tips on where to go and what to do in the short time we had. Thank you so much!

Stayed here for 4days to chill out and visit family/friends. TRM feels more like apartment blocks, quiet and clean. The staff here are very friendly and informative. It really felt like we were at home here and even though some furnishings are old they suit the place comfortably. The shower pressure was great, lounge area comfortable and the beds were... More

Mr. Baker the owner was very warm and helpful, even though the rooms were dated, they were spacious and clean and the prices were reasonable. The only thing is that the hot water shower flow may not be very good. But overall I still enjoyed my stay there:)

We had booked into the motel mainly because I wanted to fish the legendary Tongariro River and the owner Ross had promised to lend me all the gear I needed to do so. The heavens opened as we drove up from Wellington and the river was unfishable, but Ross and Pip greeted us like old friends and made us welcome.... More

Yes the Motel is dated, and close to the road but arent most motels? Spacious & handy for shops and walking distance to many eateries. But the star is the lady proprietor who spent an hour, would have spent longer, helping us plan our walks for that afternoon & following day.

Spent two nights at the motel and it was very comfortable. The decor is dated, but very clean and functional. We had a suite, so a kitchen/lounge/dining room with separate bathroom and bedroom. The kitchen provided electric stove/oven, microwave, fridge and cook utensils, pots and pans. For a self-catering holiday it was perfect. The rooms were also quite large, only... More

Ross & Pip are so welcoming and accomodating. Bikes for riding are free. If you sweet talk Ross, you can squeeze fishing tips out of him. Pumpkin is always happy for extra walkies. It's s fab, relaxing place to stay when on the Central Plateau.

We stopped at the Tongariro Motor Hotel for two nights to rest up before continuing our 30 day motor tour of New Zealand and we got a dose of outstanding New Zealand hospitality.
