Jason was the best guide! He took us where really large trout were hanging out. We never could have netted these on our own without his help. He helped us understand how to work them and bring them in. Tracy's dinner was the best we had in New Zealand - great home cooking. If you want to catch big fish... More

My son and I came here to Fish. What we got from TroutBeck Lodge was the holiday of a lifetime. Whilst the lodge is small, the facilities including the shared lounge, dining room, fish cleaning area and the location right on the Tauranga-Taupo River are superb. I have never experienced such personal service in any other "stay". Tracey looked after... More

This is a small three room lodge with common area with fire place. They served meals in a dining room. The facility was clean and the location remote by a stream and short walk to the lake. Tracy and Jason were out standing in taking care of our needs and very pleasant in sharing information and stories about the area.... More

We stayed at the Trout Beck FIshing Lodge two nights, with almost three days of intensive fly fishing. Jason provides excellent guidance and knows the area like his own back yard, whether you like fishing the lakes or the rivers. I had a unique experience and caught some beautiful fish. I highly recommend the TBFL.

If you want to catch trout on fly, no matter what your experience level, this is the place to go. This our 3rd time with Jason and Tracey and we wouldn't think of going anywhere else. This time 3 generations all catching fish together, the youngest never having fished before. Tracey's food is exceptional. (Going to the hot springs after... More

My mum booked the Troutbeck lodge, after we saw where it was located. The 6 of us booked 3 double rooms for one night, then it was just the 4 of us for the last night. We were at the end of our holiday fund kitty, so we didn't end up doing the fishing tour like we originally planned, but... More

Jason and Tracy are fantastic hosts, the atmosphere is very friendly and you are looked after as if you're family. This place really is the best kept secret on the lake. (Top tip: See if you can convince Tracy to cook her 'pork belly', just awesome after a long day fighting fish). If you want to experience genuine, authentic NZ... More

To be honest we only live just up the road and used it as a getaway and do nothing rather than use the place to its full potential so no fishing. We were greeted by Tracy and told we had been upgraded to the upstairs room complete with SKY TV and a bit more room. My husband had the cooked... More

Jason arranged a back country trip for us that was out of this world. His knowledge put us on to fish of a lifetime. He knows where the fish are and what they they are feeding on. His tips have improved my casting ability and my ability to read the water - overall a great experience that I would recommend... More

Taupo / Turangi....what a beautiful part of the country. TroutBeck.....What an amazingly beautiful place in awesome surroundings. Your room is cosy and snuggly with the electric blanket if your stay is Autumn/Winter as ours was. Interaction with the owners is great, they are so accommodating to your needs.
