My husband and I recently stayed at Wharekauhau for either the 3rd or 4th time. We can't quite work out if we'd stayed on 2 or 3 previous occasions. Other lodges we have stayed at and therefore do inevitably draw comparisons with are Kauri Cliffs, Cape Kidnappers, Matakauri, Huka Lodge and Blanket Bay. One of the things I love about...

The grounds breathtaking, the facilities are great, the food fantastic, the cottages implacable, however, the real highlight, is the human touch that We won't forget- kudos to Richard and his team. We felt special and fortunate to have included Wharekauhau as part of our our voyage. NZ is an addictive candy of a country and well worth the long travel,...

We spent a night at Wharekauhau for our 40th Wedding anniversary. The staff were all fantastic, very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. The beds and pillows were very very comfortable. We had lunch and dinner which was absolutely delicious.I would definitely recommend a stay here because it was beautiful.

Good lord, where does one start with this place? From the outstanding service, location and accommodation to the beautiful swimming pool and grounds. This place is worth the serious cash outlay. If you have ever wondered how the super wealthy holiday, just experience this place for one night. That said, a couple of minor errors. The wine waiter missed our...

We drove to Wharekauhau country estate from Plimmerton over the weekend lately to have a celebratory 5 course degustation lunch for our 35th wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. The journey on the western side of the lake was narrow in some parts and of course it was rather twisty going across the Rimutakas. It took us about 1 1/2...

We had friends fly in from melbourne to join us for my birthday weekend here. The staff anticipated all of our needs before we did and did so with enthusiasm and excitement. They loved surprising and delighting us and seemed to get as much enjoyment out of our delight as we did. Food and wine were excellent. They were amazing...

Fabulous place, we were so well looked after it was unbelievable. Every member of the team went out of their way to make this stay very special. We had so many surprises laid on we lost count. The main Lodge is a very warm inviting environment, and the smaller lodges, just a minute or two walk away, are spacious and...

After a lovely scenic drive from Wellington (apart from the slightly frightening final descent down across the river) we made our first faux pas even before we had properly arrived; we parked our car in the car park ourselves rather than let the staff park it for us! The lady on the front door quickly caught up with us in...

Came for a 3 day stay post rugby, this never a happy experience if you are an Australian! What a wonderful way to recover from the rugby and a hectic routine! 3 days of being spoilt in a beautiful setting, on a sheep station looking over the ocean and nearby mountains! Easy drive to Martinborough and its wineries with Pinot...
