As a first time skier, Les Carroz resort had everything I needed. A quick 2 hour, 1-2-1 lesson enabled me to find my feet before joining my friends on the slopes. The apartment itself was clean, homely and had all the essentials for 4 of us during our week long stay. We particularly enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in the sunshine for our après ski. We drove our own car down with all the skis/ snowboards on the roof. The journey was very easy with most of it motorway and there was a covered parking space to the rear of the apartment. Friends of ours did not have a car and were able to get the local bus for free from the stop at the end of the road. Les Carroz itself was picturesque with lots of activities to do and a great little pub called Le Marlow. The restaurants were busy so I would recommend booking if you plan to eat out. We will definitely be returning, many thanks to the owner, Jonathan.

Two early 40's blokes left the wives at home for a few days and hit the mountains (not Brokeback style though, let's get that clear early on), anyway the place had everything we needed and i really couldnt give it any negatives. You do need to take your own towels though, so there's one.

We stayed here for our 2010 Ski/Boarding Holiday. The Hotel is a basic clean apartment type hotel. You are given sheets and towels etc at reception upon arrival and you have to make your own beds. We had a 6 person apartment even though there were only 3 of us. 1 double room, one 2 person bunk bed by the door (opposite the shower and bathroom) and one sofa bed that sleeps 2 people. The bottom of the sofa pulls out so it cannot be turned into a large double. Reception opens during set hours (closes about 8.30pm) and the staff have OK english. The shower and bathroom was quite small but there was plenty of hot water. The kitchen is well equipped (including microwave, coffee maker, kettle, 6 chairs and a table) but as you have to clean everything and put out the rubbish, we found it easier to eat out. There is a small portable TV with few channels. At reception, you can order coffee and a croissant/pastry for breakfast for a couple of Euro and you collect this at reception. Taxi into town cost Euro25 for a minibus (6 persons). You can walk but its all uphill and the road has no footpath. We walked home (downhill) a couple of evenings and it only took 15 minutes but you need to stand in off the road when cars come. There is on-street parking and as the hotel is on a slope it is advisable to have either snow tyres or snow chains. We had neither one morning during heavy snow and got stuck. Some friendly locals helped to push us out of the drift. You have to clean your room, return your sheets and towels on checkout. There are no other amenities within the aparthotel. Bottom line, is you get what you pay for and this represents good value for money for clean, basic, no frills accomodation. The nearby small town of Les Carroz has a good selection of cafe's and restaurants and good access to the ski lifts.

This hostel was for me the only affordable place to go when you're traveling solo in Les Carroz for a round of ski. Basic is not a problem, but hairs all over the place (including in the bed) is not that great, I'd say. Guests are expected to clein their rooms afterwards, but that doesn't happen that good, it seems (there is also no good cleaning material, and to use it you have to pay for it - no wonder why it's not that clean...) I arrived, good service (english speaking even, wow!) and got bed sheets. With the bed sheets I had to prepare the bunk bed (!) myself and get a dirty blanket from the closet to sleep under. When in bed you could hear a drain above your head in the closet if somebody above you was using the shower, or sink (bad luck I had a guy showering for 30 minutes at midnight). For the rest the hotel was pretty good. Good location. Parking area (free and paid covered parking). Friendly personell. But I'm not recommending it, since I like more hygiene. But if you're with friends, and plan to drink booze all night long, it's an affordable place and probably you're going to leave it behing more dirty than you came in.
