It's hard to know where to start with the accolades for Grasmere, but it has to be with the view as you arrive. Coming over the hill before you turn into the drive you know you are entering a special place. The views of the mountains with the expansive valley in front of you is your welcome to Grasmere. .... This was one of the most personal experiences we have ever had with the greeting on arrival ,the personal tour of the property, the before dinner snacks and drinks along with the intimate candle lit dinner . You are treated and made feel as tough you're the only people there. This, as well as the luxury of the rooms and the... More

We only had one night here due to my husband incorrectly thinking not much to do - wrong wrong wrong! We arrived by train at Cass which is a request stop on the railway before Arthurs Pass. We were met by the lodge staff and taken to the lodge where we made bookings for horse riding after lunch and a... More

Had the most amazing trip in NZ and stay in Grasmere. The sunset over the property was amongst the most beautiful sights i've ever seen in my entire life and my stay there is really up there in my most perfect memories.

We started our recent 12 day exploration of NZ's south island with two nights at Grasmere. Boy, what a way to kick it off! The views were jaw dropping from Cass View, the food was great at every turn and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We would return in a second if we are lucky enough to... More

We booked to stay for 3 nights at the beginning of our trip to the South Island and were just blown-away with the location, views, accommodation, staff, food, wine - everything. So much so that we amended our itinerary to have another couple of nights there at the end of our trip. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We loved our stay at Grasmere Lodge! We spend two nights during our New Zealand honeymoon here, and we'd love to come back when we have more time. The food is 5-star and the staff fun and friendly. We went on a great horseback ride with Heather, and she was such a good guide. There are hiking / running trails... More

First, we (three of us visited from Singapore) would like to thanks Tom, the owner, our breakfast servers Keren and Heaven, the horse lady Heather and the amazing Andy (he shoots, drives, serves). Grasmere has it all. Want a tough or a moderate hike right at your doorstep? Check. Awesome food and service? Check. Clay pigeon shooting? Check. Horse riding?... More
