The Wilderness Lodge Located near Arthur's Pass and its sister Wilderness Lodge at Lake Moeraki were two of the highlights of my first ever visit to New Zealand. The Arthur's Pass lodge is located in a stunning area of the country's southern alps. The lodge is comfortable with spacious rooms and amenities you usually find in fine hotels. The meals... More

Stayed for 3 nights while we hiked the many trials and experienced stunning panoramic views. The lodge had great views from the room we had, and all common areas. The food was that of a fine chef...unexpected in such a remote environment. Never had better lamb in our lives! The staff were terrific, making you feel "right-at-home", and taking care... More

This was a great stop over. I never heard any traffic noise as you can drive for ages and hardly see another car. The room we had was lovely with a great shower. Breakfast and dinner were included and were 1st rate. Very friendly family fun lodge . Because it is miles from anything else a one day stop was... More

We stayed at both Widerness lodges and highly recommend them both. They do not sit easily as either a NZ B&B or a hotel. For some it is a hotel, but there is the option to dine with others and it then fits into the B&B style of stay. Clearly the mani feature are the trips that they organise, the... More

If you want great food, excellent service in a pristine environment go to Wilderness Lodge. Beautiful countryside and wonderful walking trails both on the property and in the surrounding national park. Daily walks and talks are fantastic. Particularly enjoyed Michael and farm manager Neil. Being a kiwi I thought I knew something about sheep but learnt a lot from Neil.... More

After a wonderful stay at the Lake Moeraki Wilderness Lodge we were delighted to experience another excellent wilderness resort experience the Arthurs Pass Wilderness Lodge. We stayed in a very comfortable Mountain View room with tasteful decor and great views out of the forest. All staff were extremely attentive, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed excellent meals in the scenic dining... More

We recently stayed at the Wilderness Lodge as part of a Backroads Hiking Tour. The owner's daughter Claire runs a first rate lodge with plenty of amenities and tours. I would specifically recommend the sheep shearing tour with Neil. He not only showed how sheep are sheared but also showed how the sheep dogs work the flock, it was well... More

nice view from narrow room with no cross ventilation. free guest laundry nice touch. Dinner portions tiny and not filling and service very very very slow. Hiiking trails OK, but public trail through middle is best. Internet works. Overpriced by about $100 per night.

We landed at Christchurch Airport, picked up our car, drove directly to the Lodge, and off to the sheep shearing tour. What a lovely beginning to our trip! We learned that a lot of their wool is purchased by Icebreaker, and if you've ever worn garments by this label, you know how soft and warm they are, without being itchy.... More

Lovely eco-lodge in the middle of the South Island. Warm hospitality, delicious food and wine, interesting tours. Be sure to take the tour of the on-site sheep farm, where Neil educates all about the ins and outs of sheep farming.
