We had stayed in Fairlie in 2013 while bicycling around the South Island and were not happy with the hotel. So, we were looking for something different this time for a stop while driving from Christchurch to Queenstown. We selected the Pinewood based on TripAdvisor reports and were not disappointed. Our room had a Queen size bed and another single...

Stayed overnight on our way to Queenstown. good half way spot travelling from Christchurch. Comfortable room, with kitchenette, and small table. Arrived late sunday night, no restaurants open, just a pub.

We arrived early and were given helpful direction to the local pie bakery (which we had heard about in a previous town). Upon check in, the owner Chris was very generous with his time and local information. My family of four adults stayed in one of the two bedroom units with a separate lounge/dining and immaculately clean kitchenette. Chris gave...

This place is fine for an overnight stop, but has limited space for clothes etc if you are staying longer and don't want to live out of a suitcase. The room was spacious with a kitchen, including a portable single ring hotplate which was in the cupboard, toaster, microwave, kettle etc. The bed was comfortable and the shower hot and...

We stayed here on our journey from Christchurch through to Queenstown for the night. Although slightly dated, everything was full functioning, clean and well presented. Suggestions for local amenities are given, and great free wifi is available. Friendly staff and overall a very pleasant stay!

This is the second hotel/motel we've stayed in on our New Zealand trip. The room is cozy, clean, and well kept. The actual motel sits off the road so it's very quite. You can pull your car right up next to your room for easy unloading and loading. There is a cute little patio outside the room too. I would...

An overnight stop here was enough for us. Fairlie is very small and quiet but there are numerous hotels and motels to choose from. On the face of it this one looks okay, no real issues apart from the inside being tired and a very poor bed which sagged in the middle.Facilities okay in the room and wifi worked well.

Our apologies for the issue with the bed - it seems previous guests had somehow damaged the bed base causing the mattress to sag. The bed has now been replaced. We would have appreciated you letting us know there was an issue before leaving - we carry spares for almost everything on site but can't help if you don't let...

Typical Motel in New Zealand with simple but well maintained facilities. Quiet and clean. There is a pie shop with the most tasteful pie I've ever had. If you have a Chance, you should try it, e.g. as breakfast.

Good motel. Rooms are very clean. Easy access and parking. Service is very good and friendly, with a smile. Great place for families for one night or a few nights. Little playground at the back. I recommend this motel.

Pinewood Motel in Fairlie is nothing special. The facilities seemed dated. The service was kind but not welcoming. So in principle, it is fine if you just stay for a night. However, after having a shower, it was an unpleasant surprise to find foreign hair of some kind in the "fresh" towels provided. This is a no-go in any kind...

I'm sorry to hear you felt you didn't receive a warm welcome. We did inform the laundry company regarding the towel - if you had contacted reception they would have been happy to provide you with fresh ones. Many of our customers choose to stay in Fairlie because it is a small rural Kiwi town - away from the large...
