The Hermitage Hotel is in a superb position overlooking Mt Cook. The hotel is very well run and highly organised, receiving daily coach loads of visitors from around the world. The food is excellent with a wide range of choices. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and professional. However, the hotel will have to upgrade. The rooms are looking tired... More

We stayed in a superior room costing $NZ 380. However we were required to pay extra for wi fi, which turned out to be rather slow and extremely frustrating. The hotel has been much extended which makes for long hikes to reach the restaurants and reception. Water pressure was lacking in the shower and the dismal range of tv channels... More

We stayed for a night at the Hermitage in order to get a ski plane view of Mt Cook and the Glacier. Sadly the weather was abysmal and it was cancelled. Check in went well but we had to park out the back and organise our own bags. I also note the credit card surcharge. The room itself was clean... More

At first impression this hotel looks vast, Impressive, but vast. Immediately alarm bells start ringing, and that's before we've even entered. A extremely dark metal construction amongst magnificent scenery. Shame, it spoils the area. No help was offered with our bags, we had to ask, then we were asked, do you want help with your bags or can you manage???... More

Well it's not the only place to stay... it's just the ONLY place to stay. A really top notch place with rooms and staff that will meet all of your expectations. The views from your room are fabulous, the rooms are well appointed, and the restaurants onsite are outstanding.

Stayed in a couple of Standard rooms and these were both very tired. The corridor woodwork was badly in need of repair where it had been damaged by the service trolleys. The hotel is a bit of a maze and they do not supply any maps and the signage is not terribly good. Free Wi-fi is limited to public areas.... More

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback from your recent stay. I am a little disappointed to hear that you found the standard rooms tired, as it isn’t the usual feedback we hear on them, but guest feedback is important to us and we will continue to seek further guest feedback to clarify where we can improve... This is a big hotel catering for many large tourist groups. Buffet breakfast choices was extensive to say the least. For dinner we ate at both the buffet restaurant and the al a carte restaurant (great steak). The dinner buffet looked a bit tired and certainly caters for an Asian market. One complaint with the rooms is noise from surrounding... More

Good food, rooms, views and staff. This place puts the USA National Park Lodges to shame. Book full service dining in the panorama room and skip the multicultural scene at the dinner buffet. It's worth every penny. Worth a round the world trip.

We booked last minute (which I would not recommend as we struggled to get a room) stayed for 2 nights - the first night we did not sleep well at all due to an extremely noisy neighbour. However, the room was large, clean and had fabulous views of the elusive Aoraki. Breakfast was an enormous selection of everything you could... More

After checking into our room at the Mt. Cook Lodge, we drove up to the Hermitage for lunch. At the Hermitage they have a very large dining room with a first class buffet. We had a really wonderful afternoon buffet which also served as our evening meal. The Hermitage itself is a luxury high rise hotel. It has a spacious... More
