The Wheatsheaf Hotel in Baslow is a Peak District bolthole with easy access to Chesterfield, Sheffield and Derby. Thoughtfully restored to retain many of the original features of the building, our hotel combines historic charm and contemporary style. We have nice guest rooms with en-suite facilities and flatscreen TVs, WiFi is included in the room rate. Take a drive out to us for a pub lunch or dinner with friends. Real ales, guest beers, world wines, and spirits are always available at the bar. We do the kind of food you find in a casual restaurant. Grills are our forte, but there are plenty of alternatives. Roast chicken is served with a wide choice of sauces and sides, and vegetarian choices, curries, burgers and fish dishes taste every bit as good as they look. The Wheatsheaf is one of the best places to stay in the Peak District. Couples love our cosy feel and tranquil setting. Families appreciate the sprawling beer garden and the brilliant adventure play area.

We wanted somewhere to meet up with our friends Angela and Andrew so after much debate and discussion we decided to go to the Wheatsheaf at Baslow. We had a table in the conservatory. All had excellent meals, Angela and I particularly enjoyed our puddings! Good food and efficient service. Thank you. We will go again. Interestingly it was a Monday lunch time and busy.

Pleasant place. We had a nice oval shaped table which was good for conversations.Good food. Rather over large portions for an older person. But the meal arrived quite speedily despite being a Sunday,. Very pleasant and attentive waitress Michelle.

Overpriced with a rat outside my family and I ate here the other week the menu is extortionate and so other drinks and the food isn’t all that once you do get it the place was really busy we were served efficiently by lovely member of staff the place seems immaculate however I was presented by a brown rat when I went outside in the beer garden which staff were assisting with but all the same I don’t think I’d be back and it’s such a shame because my partner lives in Sheffield and we love a good beer garden, Wasn’t offered anything off my bill or any kind of gesture at all

Hi.Thank you for your feedback and so sorry to hear you found the menu extortionate. Thank you for your comments regarding the team and our lovely beer garden. The rats, unfortunately, like you, love a good beer garden in a rural location. You may have also noticed the works on the river Bank opposite the garden, this has disturbed the water voles that also look like rats and keep popping over to see us. Please be assured we work very hard with our pest control company to keep all pests under control. I do hope you will visit us again. Thank you.

I live in Manchester and my best friend lives in Nottingham, so this is a great place to meet that's half way for both of us. They have recently change the menu and it's much improved - great choice and very fresh and delicious. Staff were first class - especially Michelle who made sure we were well looked after.

We called in for a late lunch and my boyfriend went to the bar for drinks and was a while as ut was busy. He'd only just sat diwnn when a waiter asked if we were ready to order. My boyfriend said he hadn't looked at the menu yet so I politely asked the waiter to come back in two minutes please. With that he sneered, walked away- and never came back. (I 'd also got up to look at the specials board, only to find there were no 'specials'- verything listed was actually on the menu). About 15 minutes later a waitress came over but we told her we'd decided not to eat there. We went elsewhere where we were made very welcome by pleasant staff.

Rude attitude to my wife at the bar by middle aged guy when she didn’t have a table number. In actual fact, this was because the table itself was missing the disc ! Didn’t even try the food since we left immediately since she was upset by his attitude. Also, rude front of house staff / owners (?) in hospitality (sic) don’t deserve our business. Won’t be visiting this one again.

The hotel is picturesque. Car parking is very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was straightforward and quick. We were taken to our room to be told we were lucky as they had all been refurbished. Apparently prior to the refurbishment they were not good at all. The room was clean and fresh with a wall mounted TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a desk, one chair and a double bed. The room could have benefited from a second chair so that one person sitting on the bed was not necessary - there was room for a second more comfortable chair. The bathroom was large and clean. Soap was via a hand pump rather than a bar of soap - so lucky we brought our own. The towels were fresh, large and clean and were enough for a one night stay for 2. The shower worked very well but the sealant between the bath and wall needed to be redone as it had lifted and water ingress was evident. We ate our evening meal I. The bar/restaurant. Service was excellent and friendly. The menu selection was good and the quality was good. We also had breakfast the following morning in the same place. Breakfast was excellent. Everything was freshly cooked and tasted good. The only drawback to the whole experience was constant noise from heavy traffic all night long and then an early very noisy delivery. Although the bed was very comfortable - we did not sleep well because of the noise.

Myself and a friend stayed here for 5 days. Our rooms were newly decorated to a very high standard in pleasing neutral shades. The beds are super comfortable and a large new tv was much appreciated. A large variety in breakfasts can be ordered and we enjoyed splendid evening meals. The staff are very pleasant and friendly. I shall most certainly return.
