So after a few nice drinks in the bar and a nibble order of calamari which was lovely but minimal. We looked forwarded to our first night of food. Chicken liver parfait was delish! Mains we'll waste of money! Lamb kebab over done, shop bought...More
Nice breakfast and good location. Easy to walk to Chatsworth.
Room 2 was small for price but decorated nicely.
Very disturbed sleep. Room above made a lot of noise late at night and floorboards were extremely creaky. Doors slamming outside the room. Not good if...More
We booked two nights (£190) over Easter as we were attending a wedding nearby at Chatsworth House.
For whatever reason, we were told we had to change room for the second night although we had booked for two nights. No explanation as to why. Okay,...More

Exceptional four day stay at this very pleasant and well run b&b, pub and restaurant. Our room was clean, tidy and well presented and nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff team who were very friendly and attentive.

I was looking at booking a room for 2 nights at the Devonshire Arms in Oct to celebrate my wife's birthday. Specifically the Chatsworth room on ground floor which would allow us to take our little dog. We have had meals in the Devonshire after walking in Chatsworth Estate and had good meals and service. However some of the recent reviews are making me question the idea, especially the hassle guests seem to have with parking fines. What business allows staying guests to be fined for parking in their car park?

Hello, I would not be put off. There are signs everywhere about registering your car and the staff also asked us upon arrival. It's a very small car park and they have issues with people parking and leaving their car there for hours when they are not staying overnight or even in the restaurant! People who have ignored the signs or parked there when they should not have are then fined. You will appreciate this policy when staying there as you should get a parking space. It's a great place to stay and superb location
