Possibly the friendliest ( and most efficient ) staff team we have had the pleasure to meet. This hotel includes a classic traditional bar including log fire and locally brewed ales. The evening menu of this independently owned hotel includes a very interesting range of dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. And you can walk off the calories "next door" in the famous Chatsworth House park and grounds. The perfect way to spend our short break.
This was our 2nd visit at this time of year to attend Chatsworth’s Xmas Market. Greeted by Matthew who was very friendly & efficient, even offering to bring us a paper the following morning! The whole team are very friendly, efficient & kind, they really are the best asset. Very comfortable room, very clean. Delicious meals in the restaurant. Very happy customer.
The staff at the The Devonshire Arms are extremely friendly and helpful and the standard of food both for breakfast and dinner is very good. The hotel is extremely dog-friendly and allows well-behaved dogs in the dining room and they might even get a sausage for breakfast if they are lucky!! For visiting Chatsworth and walking in the grounds and surrounding area, the hotel is ideally positioned with just a ten minute stroll to the edge of the estate. We had a lovely time and will definitely be visiting again.
The Staff at the Devonshire arms were so efficient and welcoming upon arrival. Their attention to making our stay enjoyable could not have been better. The meal service was excellent, and the good training of staff was obvious. The meals were well prepared and presented, very efficiently at the table, by all the restaurant staff. Mathew and the team are to be congratulated for making our stay most comfortable. We shall return when possible. John
We stayed for my partner's birthday and I mentioned his birthday when booking. When we arrived there was a birthday card from the hotel, and a bottle of wine in an ice bucket and 2 bottles of beer, very nice touch. We stayed in a room at the back of the hotel. The room and bathroom were lovely however we didn't sleep well as there was a whirring sound all night. When we mentioned on checking out the receptionist said may be the beer pumps refrigeration! We surely can't have been the first to mention! If we had been staying another night we would have asked to move rooms. We needed a sleep in the afternoon when we got home! Whilst a small room it was extremely clean and a lovely bathroom. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Can highly recommend the Sea Bream and the Souvlaki Hanging Kebab, they were absolutely delicious. As was the bread and butter dessert. Not cheap but all were delicious. Service was friendly but slow we waited 50 minutes for our starters! Disappointed no croissants, pastries etc. in the morning however our breakfasts were delicious. The location is fantastic as is so close to Chatsworth House. We enjoyed our stay, despite the poor sleep, and all the staff were really friendly.…
Near Chatsworth and the C&MH Club Site. You can book tables in the restaurant and have a dog with you. Sets the standard for others to follow. Ambiance is lovely with really attentive and friendly staff. We’ve been here several times but this last time to meet up with old friends for lunch. Excellent food. Recommend the scotch egg and the ossa buco! Necessary to book. Great pub!
This is a polished bar and restaurant. I went with my father and we enjoyed a burger and Derbyshire meat pie for dinner. The portions were huge and the food fresh and delicious. There was lots of local produce on the menu, which was extensive. There is also an excellent range of local beers on offer. It is not the cheapest venue, but worth it in my opinion.
Amazing hospitality from the word go, wonderful reception on arrival, beautiful room, great food and superb location. I recently bought a farmhouse in this area and was looking for a local hotel for family and friends to stay on visits. This hotel ticks every box. It has that country manor charm yet is so on trend. Lovely dining and bar areas with comfy sofas to curl up and relax with a drink at the end of the day. Location is fabulous. Gorgeous village and five minutes from Chatsworth House . Will certainly recommend and, indeed frequent myself often. Thank you.
Called for Sunday lunch. Lovely atmosphere and decor. Had bread and oil, hummus and olives as a shared starter - all absolutely delicious. We felt there was a poor vegetarian choice overall. I chose the roast dinner with the roasted cauliflower option which came with a lovely selection of vegetables but was spoilt by there being no veggie gravy available. There was enough food in one roast to feed at least 3 people so we were grateful they were able to package the 'leftovers' for us to bring home (to enjoy with some gravy!). All the staff that served us were delightul and provided really good service.
Had an evening meal here. The room was beautiful and well laid out. Some people were complaining about their food but we found ours to be absolutely fine. We returned the following night for a drink but found that the range of drinks wasn’t that great so dropped to 4 star.
