Mabalingwe Nature Reserve is just two hour's drive by motor vehicle from Johannesburg. It is a small nature reserve with well equipped self-catering chalets, but it also has a restaurant amongst many other facilities and amenities. The free ranging wild animals around the chalets are actually fairly tame, but there are great game viewing drives to view thee of the...

What we most enjoyed about Mabalingwe was that we could drive in the reserve, in our own car at our own pace. At neighbouring reserves we could only go on game drives with stipulated drivers, and along with other holiday makers who were not always there for the game, just for fun. We were there for a week and were...

We went to this 'Big 5' game reserve to experience wildlife and nature - huge disappointment. The place itself is nice, we stayed at the Kubu lodge but some things to note: 1. Booked two game drives only to find out on arrival that there were no Sunday morning game drives and all other game drives (only one game drive...

Although the resort was wonderful to stay at, this is completely misleading as a big 5 game park. They permit hunting of their game (although thats not made publicly known) and contribute to the canned hunting of lions (which they keep in a separate breeding area which you have to pay extra to see), I'm ashamed at having spent my...

Loved the untouched nature and animals at Mabalingwe Nature Reserve. We immersed the beauty of this place with its African sunset strected out across the country side. Entertainment program active for families with youngster. The hot water pool was a treat. The Game Drives with FRANS a must. What a treat. As he guided us to the herd of elephants...

We stayed in Unit 20 in the main camp (Ingwe). On arrival at the unit after a painless check-in, two porters were prompt to help off-load the trailer and the car. The unit exceeded our expectations based on previous visits to the resort (we stayed in different units at those times). We had a six sleeper unit, which had three...

We had a bad experience overall in Tlou Lodge no.19. We requested a double bed on our booking request but we found two single beds on arrival and we were too tired and needed to rest. As we were showering the water started flooding out due to blocked drainage. This happened at 09H15p.m. so we reported this and asked that...

My husband and I had a short break here to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in a chalet at Tlou lodge. The room was spacious and provided a cool retreat from the heat of the bush. Warthogs, fowl, kudu and squirrels were visible without stepping outside the back door. We did a self - drive through the reserve and were...

Hi guys, just got back from Mabalingwe Nature Reserve, went for the weekend (19-20 Feb 2016) with my family. Sad to let you guys know that there was very limited wildlife around, only seen a family of giraffes and lot of warthogs. The lions are in a separate camp which you have to pay R300 to view them feeding, if...
