Excellent! Location: Absolutely stunning views. Easily accessible with Grab cabs to go to any part of island. Walking distance from a hawker stand - Vivo food court, a super market just 3 buildings away, Lotus mall where you can have a meal or shop. And did I mention the stunning views!? Room: We stayed in Deluxe room which is their base category. Spacious room, well structured, smart space utilisation, thoughtful and high quality amenities, extremely comfortable mattress (not for those who prefer very soft mattresses though) and list goes on. And once again, the view! Large windows with partial sea view and partial city/ mountain view. Hotel facilities: Infinity swimming pool on the 11th floor, good functional gym, a restaurant serving a-la-carte menu and another for breakfast only. Both restaurants with an amazing sea view. We had opted for a breakfast inclusive package and the spread was certainly lavish. Quality of the b/f spread was also impeccable. Love the small touch of complimentary ice tea offering in the lobby. They also have massage chairs in the lobby should you need it. Hompton beach is accessible through the hotel itself. People: And now to what matters most. Every single person on the staff is an excellent example of what customer focus actually means. Kind, helpful, always smiling and eager to put you at ease. The check in process was very smooth with a smart hint of sales prowess where the lady kindly offered us an upgrade at a small fee, though we didn't opt for it. Any service while in the room is managed through the Roomy app and it was always immediately catered to. The wait staff in restaurants were always happy to help. Special shoutout to my friend Adel who was so cheerful. Also many thanks for Mr Shafiz (front office manager) who assisted us immediately when we were looking to extend our stay till the night by offering room at half day charges. This trip, we stayed in Hompton because we were visiting Penang. Next trip, we will visit Penang so we can stay at Hompton 😊

We stayed here for 5 nights over lantern festivals in Penang. This hotel is the tallest building at this area. It’s easy to spot and parking is free. But carpark is narrow and full over weekends. On weekday, carpark was aplenty. The carpark ramp is narrow and not easy for not so good drivers. The building is tall but you go round and round each floor.
We had a partial sea view room so the view is not fantastic but once we are at level 1, the bar area has many deck chairs to chill out and enjoy a martini with fantastic seaview. The view at the pool on level 10 is also beautiful. My hubby and sis in law really enjoy their swim at the pool.
The room is big and the beds are comfortable. The driving distance to Penang city and the malls are near.
We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant which offers an ok variety. We also had a buffet dinner for 3 persons. There are lots of food including quite good seafood. The view from our table inside the restaurant again is breathtaking.
There is a food centre just opposite the hotel which is very convenient. The fried kway teow, seafood, Hokkien prawn mee soup, lor bak and chicken claypot rice there are delicious.
There is a backdoor from the hotel which offers easy access to the beach for a stroll. We totally enjoy our stroll there in the evening and morning. The hotel is very considerate to offer a water hose for us to wash off sands from our feet. A wonderful thought from the hotel!
We will definitely be back again the next time we visit Penang again.

Did not actually stay at the hotel, but visited its Spice Garden restaurant, which does not seem to have its own listing. We went for their Saturday and Sunday Seafood Galore Buffet which, at the price of RM 108 or RM 88 for Seniors - including free flow beer, wine and soft drinks, was fantastic value. Without the drinks, the cost is RM78 and RM58 and even at those prices it also had promotions of Buy 3 Pay 2, buy 5 Pay 3 and Buy 7 Pay 4.The restaurant was very busy with lots of family and friend groups ans the atmosphere was good, with mostly local people and everyone, including of course the staff, were very friendly. There was a great choice of sea food, which was being freshly cooked by a team of chefs, and chicken dishes for non-fish lovers with plenty of side dishes available. The desserts were also very tempting and we enjoyed everything we chose. A lovely local lady befriended we two Brits whilst in the restaurant and invited us to go downstairs in the hotel with her and her group to watch live music and dancing. We were really pleased to be invited and thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Hompton, where we will probably stay during our next visit to Georgetown.

Stayed for 2 nights. Breakfast was delicious and had many options. The view very beautiful and magnificent. The hotel seems very good because I saw they practiced and provides handsanitizer . The hotel publicarea was often sanitized. The room was very clean and the sea view from my room really make you feel better. so excited about the origami animals that are placed on the bed. My kids really love it.tks for creating that. For me this is very unique because it is different from other hotels..I am very satisfied with the service offered.

We stayed here during a busy Diwali weekend. The checking in was smooth and friendly. We got a room on the 31st floor. The room was spacious with a nice town/sea view. There is an inroom safe, free bottles of water and 2 packets of juice in the refrigerator. A good walk in shower. We did have a few problems, like the inroom safe that did not open (batteries) and the bathroom fan that made so much noise that we couldn't use it. But maintenance responds fairly quickly. The outside terrace from the "Elementos" restaurant on the first floor is a good space to enjoy and watch the beach. The food was good, although very limited for us considering we don't eat meat. But thats a problem in a lot of places in Malaysia. The Viva hawker centre is only a few steps away. A food haven for most, but again for us limited, there are no stalls that sell vegetarian food/no Indian stalls. But a good place to have a drink. All very positive except for the big problem of crowded lifts. In these days that Covid is still going around it is unnerving to be in a crowded lift with quite a few people without masks. We even got out once and walked the last 18 floors ! To get down. Once your down to ground level you think twice about going back up unless you really need to.

Pros: Hotel location offers a beautiful sea view Easy to get taxis and private hire cars Room is large and bed is comfortable Cons Hotel does not offer any service to guests, not even in helping to make reservations at restaurants, which is the most basic We called three times for room cleaning and waited for more than 2 hrs before anyone appeared The front desk staff Qing Wei is most unhelpful. Even when he made a mistake at my checkout by giving another guest's parking coupon to me, he made no apology and tried to look away.
This is my fifth trip to Penang and I have stayed at much better hotels. Look elsewhere for better service such as Arecca at Georgetown.

The hotel staff and management were very pleasant, informative, helped to book grab/taxis, and gave us a room on the 30th floor with a magnificent view! We could just sit in our room and watch the sunset for an hour from the comfort of our chairs and in aircon! The bed is spacious and comfy, the bathroom is big, and there was floor space for our luggage and to exercise (which brings me to some pointers below). Great location for beach walks, a sumptuous range of Penang local food just at our doorstep (open from 5pm onwards only), we literally ate there every evening!
However it is good to temper one's expectations somewhat during the busy (holiday season, we visited in June) period, so here are some things to look out for:
1) When there are a lot of guests and during peak times for example, 4 to 6pm, the small pool is crowded with children and you will not be able to swim for exercise (perhaps just lounging around). The gym is small (1/2 the size of the hotel room), but it sufficed as no one really wants to exercise during their holidays (but myself)? Two treadmills, a pulley/pullup bar system, one bench, dumbbells ranging from 7 to 15kg.
2) Likewise, you will have to wait for the lifts as they have only 3 lifts servicing 33 floors. Perhaps waiting for 1 or 2 lifts to pass by.
3) Parking slots are limited per level (about 6 to 8), I had to go up to the 8th floor (10 floors of parking I think?), so lots of narrow ramp driving, just be careful.
Despite the 3 pointers, it was a wonderful stay, good value, and would definitely return!

Had an opportunity to a staycation here with my family. It was one of the nicest hotel in Penang! Room was comfy with both land and seaview. Can opt for a inhouse buffet dinner or just conveniently walk out to Viva foodcourt for a variety of local hawkerfare. Breakfast was complimentary! Catch the sunrise at Spice Garden while enjoying your breakfast. Set lunch at only Rm25 at Tapas. They also provide takeaway meals, simply call them 30 minutes in advance and pick up your food, price is just irresistible! I even bought their cheesecake and Yuletide Log cake home! Overall, this hotel is highly recommended!

After so long and finally I can travel with my family but so sad there's power failure when we check in. It's so crowded and hot at the lobby but I wanted to say thank you for the girl who named RAINIE. Well my wife told me that she's so efficient to approached and appeased my wife and told my wife what's happening. My wife told Rainie that we at parking lot don't know there's power failure and the lift can't use anymore. Rainie promised my wife she'll find me immediately and after my wife gave me a call around 2-3 mins Rainie was infront our cars bring us to the staff lift. I understood there's a lot people using staff lift as there's only one staff lift can be use but during waiting instead of keep on apologize Rainie introduce us Penang for us. Telling us where got nice Malay restaurant what's special in Penang. It's so surprise that a Chinese girl know so much of Malay things. Well after waiting for around 15 minutes we prefer use staircase to lobby. Rainie surprised me again she was so initiative to help us carry luggage go down by staircase, it's 2 big and heavy luggage. Once I reached lobby there's so crowded but immediately Rainie prefer we wait at the restaurant behind the lobby and served with special drinks. Well as I mentioned we have luggage Rainie also helped us to check all the luggage. After some time she came back to us said we can check in already. After we checked in Rainie immediately arrange someone send the luggage to our room. We had our breakfast in this morning and Rainie still remember our room and name and give us good service that over my expectations. During check out Rainie serve us also. Well I really can't forget this girl called Rainie in this hotel cause she has been served us from the time we reach hotel until we check out. It's so warm and loving got her to serve us during our travel. Definitely will come back again. Well last but not least I hope Hompton can see my feedback and please please compliment her. Terrible service during peak hours no extra towels available this is ridiculous. First time encountered. Towels were removed during peak hours at swimming pool area level 10. No sound proof noise everywhere also service staff don’t understand English plus hygiene of the tidbits storage cockroaches smell on it. Thats exactly what I posted in my review. The HBTB hotel's front end photo features the olympic sized pool. but that belongs to an adjacent owner, the Chinese Swimming Club of Penang. Hotel guests can use the facility by paying a small fee.
There are more places to choose from in the Penang Island area.
