We have stayed at this hotel from 3rd Jan till 9th Jan, Booked the "Premier Suite", High quality of service and attention given by all the staff at front desk. Hats off to them. The staffs are amazing, the rooms have been comfortable and immaculate. Now we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere other than Hompton by the beach. *The only things that needs improvement, in my opinion, is the quality of the food in the on-site restaurant. This seems to be an issue at quite a few. Apart that, this place is worth for the money

Location The hotel is located at Tanjung Bungah (as per mentioned) which is 15 minutes away from the famous Batu Ferringhi. Nevertheless, we felt the place was much strategic and able to fulfill our expectations. Less crowd in comparison to Ferringhi (happening spot always) and we felt much relaxed walking down the beach enjoying our moments. In front of the hotel has an amazing hawker stall (Viva Local Food Haven) where we were really surprise that the food tasted much better compare to the places we go. You would be amazed with the Ikan Bakar and Char Kuey Teow because we felt the hawker stall we visited before coming here was no match. Just in love with the choice of food served but just be prepared to pick the best as not all the food there would meet your taste bud (self preference I would say). It is quite a distance from the hot spot places in Penang but no regrets cause end of the day you just need some peace coming back to your hotel room to rest and not to stress about anything else. Cleanliness I would give 4 out of 5. Why? - They gave us a Deluxe room with 2 single bed attached (despite an earlier request on a King Size Bed wasn’t considered with the concept of ‘First Come First Serve’). Underneath the bed was not cleaned when the beds were moved as I could feel the dust and sands when walking around. If the management decides to attach the bed might as well look into cleaning the floor underneath - The glass-door at the shower area was found dirty and not cleaned (not sure for how long). How sure am I? Well try leaving the shower on for some time and from the fog generated, there is traces of soap stains around the glass panels which I wished they would have done a better job for a 4-star hotel. - Their wardrobes are not cleaned as my bags were filled with dust when stored at the compartment. Not sure how much of seriousness is being paid into Room Cleaning but peak season shall not be a reason as the wardrobes dust is not something build over a week. Room Fairly good as we took the Deluxe Room with Partial Sea-view. The receptionist claimed the Single Bedroom has a better view in comparison to the King Size Bedroom. True much as we had an amazing view of the beach from our room and obviously being Sun-Kissed at Sunset & Sunrise. Just a concern that furniture is taken into consideration as the chair provided was found to have burned mark which could have been sealed or covered with a cloth. The bed and pillow were so comfortable I had an amazing sleep at night without even having any strains on waking up in the morning. Customer Service The front desk staff was very attentive, professional, and friendly. Felt so much at home walking into the hotel. They able to explains well on the house rules also what should and should not be done. As much I would want to rate them 5 but one incident really took us back. When we were at the Bar / Lounge chilling after a walk, we were approach by one of the waiters asking us what’s your order without even greeting us. We felt a bit rude as his PR wasn’t up to the standard for you to approach your customer as though I am at a Roadside stall waiting for my order to be taken (not all roadside stall does that too). A bit disappointed with how it was but we just took it positively not knowing what the guy is going through. Hope they could put the emotions away when dealing with customers to avoid conflict. Parking Parking is a bit of a pain as mentioned in previous reviews. First Come First Serve basis as well. You can park at the roadside but there is no assurance on the safety of your car. The private parking around the hawker stall area charges RM10 per night for parking. So, in case you are planning to come back late after your ride, be prepared to either park free with risk or park with charges. Overall They have quite a facility to use but we didn’t explore any of them cause when you are in Penang you just stay out most of the time food hunting or going places. So nothing that I could comment on. Just on the safety concern where people are not obeying the signage in the lifts use. Mentioned 4 but they just want to rush in like they care a damn about the pandemic situation. Not something concerns the hotel management as they try to give their best, but of people are just being ignorant. So, in case you are in that position, either you speak out or just ignore because you just can’t change people behavior. I experience it myself where despite telling off not to come into the lift because there is 4 people inside, people just keep rushing in and stare at you like who the hell are you to tell that. God bless our country people. In conclusion, I would still pick the hotel again for my next visit to Penang. Thank you for serving us.

I booked a Supreme Room for a 1-night stay for my family with young kids last Dec, as one of our year-end staycations. The room comes with a mini bunk-bed, which the kids enjoyed the most (esp. on the upper deck). Our room was on a high floor, which provides an excellent view of Penang island's northern sea, as well as sunrise in the morning. Overall it was a relatively pleasant stay for us, esp. the kids who had a great time at the pool as well as the adjacent beach. However, just wanted to point out a few minor issues which I personally observed during our stay there: 1. The water pressure for the overhead shower was relatively low (which was a surprise, given that our room was on a high floor). 2. The doors to the connecting room could not be locked properly and can be easily opened (if the guest on the other room realises this as well!). 3. For this room type (which was meant for families with children), they could've provisioned more than just the solitary desk chair inside the room. Heck, there's still enough space to fit in a 2-seater couch if they wanted to! Meal options are aplenty for those staying at this hotel. One can enjoy a romantic dinner by the beach at the Elementos Lounge on Level 1 (with some live music to serenade you!), or you can just walk across the street to the Viva food court for a wide variety of Penang street foods. The breakfast spread was pretty satisfactory as well.

Booked a suite with 2 Queen beds for 3 adults and less than 2 year old child. Stayed for 4 nights (checked in on 28th Dec & checked out on 1st Jan). Rooms 2110 and 2112. Overall was OK, with some minor issues: 1. Found an unwashed coffee cup in room. Complained to the manager on duty but no further action taken. 2. Both safes in both rooms were not useable, one locked and one was out of battery. Didn't bother asking as no action taken for the 1st issue. 3. Bidet for toilet was leaky. Had to turn off water inlet after use, if not it'll spray water all over the place. 4. Parking is limited, so if you're not parked by 10pm-ish then be prepared to park outside on the road. 5. On 30th Dec, only 2 lifts were functioning. Due to SOPs, only 4 were allowed in hence it took ages for people to get to their desired floor. For peak seasons, even with 3 lifts is just isn't enough to cater for guests. Things that were good: 1. Rooms were clean and spacious. 2. Beautiful panoramic view from the room 3. Good coffee provided (Nespresso machine and capsules), refilled daily. 6 bottles of water for our 2 rooms daily. 4. Nice rainfall shower. Complete toiletteries. 5. Friendly and accommodating Staff, they helped freeze my daughter's baby food and reheated when requested. Overall, the Pros our weight the cons, and we'll most likely come back again.

Dear Andrea John: Thank you for your candid and objective review. We are disappointed to know that your stay was not as seamless as we had hoped. Our Housekeeping and Engineering will be more alert when checking the rooms and will hand over the properly ready rooms to our guests in future. We are also working on a practical solution to our hotel car park. We are sorry that the current lift can only accomodate 4 persons per trip. On that note, we do hope to improve from here so that your next stay with us will be a better one. Warmest regards, Stephanie Lee, Marcom Manager, Hompton Hotel Penang

Room is nice and the lobby has great scent. But apart from that... "bleh" food not so nice, small variety. POOR Room Service, We requested for room clean up but seems like they only fold the towels and bed sheet. When we return to our room the plastic trash that we kept in the side of the room is still there.. worst is. If you requested for something, you had to go down to fetch it. HAHAHAHA! where's the room service????? 🙄
