we stayed here for 4 nights, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The view from the outside dining was very nice. The beach was nice for walking, we enjoyed the pool. Our room was perfect, we got the large bed we requested. This hotel is close to a laundry mat, mall and convience store. Right across the street was a night food market, with such a amazing variety of vedors loved it. If ever in penang i would stay here again
One of the best hotels I've stayed in Penang. Even E&O is not up to par with Hompton! We stayed at the Premium Suite for 4 nights. The view of the sea was gorgeous at every corner of the room. THe suite was clean with ample toiletries, mini bar and good view of the lovely sea. Staff were polite & attentive. We are able to get Grab easily & eateries are located within walking distance (Vivo food court, Aarti vilas & Pang seafood restaurant for breakfast). The beach was clean . I have no complaints and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We travelling from KL, and wanted to celebrate our daughter birthday and decided this wonderful hotel. Even though the pool is very cold, but we managed to go to the beach; warm and sandy. A Lady, who assist our call, surprise us with a small birthday cake and our daughter is so happy with it.
Room, hotel and food did not live op to a 4 star hotel. No where near a 4 star hotel. The breakfast wasn't good. The hotels commenareas is worn down. The rooms are no where near soundproff, so allot of noise. Asked for a babycot apon ariavel, never recieved any. Was dined bringing food to our hotel room. Staff thou being very kind, dident seem to have any communication going on We where upgraded to a suite becourse of a disapointing room (dident look at all like the pictures and was dirty) and noise, but the suite was just as noisy, with a shower, which also needed a caring hand. When complaining first time of our room, we where upgraded. When complaining second time, they hotel stopped replying our mails. We moved to an other hotel half way into our stay. This room is max a 3 star, I would rate it to a 2 star hotel. …
Stayed here for a week and had a fantastic time. Staff welcoming and friendly throughout the hotel. Always met with a smile and a lovely greeting after a day out and about. Our room was spacious and had an amazing view. Housekeeping do a great job making up the room. It was lovely to come back to a clean room, comfortable bed and top up of refreshments each day. We had lunch in the hotel which we enjoyed. The outside seating area is lovely too. Compliments to the chef and kitchen who also provide a generous breakfast buffet each day. There is something for everyone. The pool is mainly used by kids who were having a great time but not so relaxing for adults. You can access a beach from the hotel but the hotel is perfectly located to jump on a bus and travel 15/20 mins to Batu Ferringhi. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you Hompton for a great stay.…
Great hotel and location. Like the staff who are very friendly and helpful. Food nearby.. it located on beach front. Nice beach view and city view too. Easy accessible to all amenities. Really great hotel for family. Enjoy my stay there, and nice infinity pool
This is by far the best city hotel I have stayed in Penang! I’ve spent my 4 nights on leisure as well as venturing the city’s heritage places and enjoying the Penang most sort after – food hunt! The location is central so easy access to nearby attraction places. The hotel is right next to the beach, so yeah – relaxing view! Breakfast was served at the all-day dining, the Spice Garden located on 11th floor while the swimming pool, gym, and sauna facilities on the 10th. Facilities is adequate and maintained. Above all, great service from all team members and in particular housekeeping team. Special shout out to Sham, Shobuz, the lady maid on Level 32 (sorry I didn’t get her name) and Shafiz for their impeccable service and warm hospitality – lovely staff that go the extra mile and they really make you feel welcome. There is nothing you can fault about the room. From the level of cleanliness in room and bathroom, to its layout – everything was superb! The room was indeed spacious and comfortable, fully equipped amenities. Most importantly is the hotel exercising sustainability in their offerings so less single usage amenities – kudos! Highly recommended! I really enjoyed my stay and will sure to come again.…
I've been to Penang numerous times and usually stay in Georgetown. This time I decided to stay by the beach to explore a new area. Hompton was a great choice! Very close to the beach and a hawker center, and with a lovely room, friendly staff, and tasty breakfast buffet. I'd recommend it for solo travelers as well as couples and families.
The hotel is on the beach at the north end of the island. Good food court out the front serving good local Tucker. The bar in hotel is nice clean and prices are reasonable. Good selection of lunch options. The public areas are very well appointed. The rooms are clean and tidy but built to a average standard. But the cleaners kept them very well services. I stayed bat the Jazz last time I was in Penang and that was next level. But COVID shut that place down. Breakfast had a large selection but not focused on westerns, so no real bacon. But the food was very good. The staff were good at the desk and concierge. Some of the bar staff might be new and can improve. Would I stay here again, I would great views and good location.
We (a party of 4 adults) booked 2 rooms for a 4 night stay whilst visiting relatives in Penang. Our first time at this newish hotel. The Positives: Receptionists and concierge are young, enthusiastic and helpful. The hotel has great water pressure enhanced with a rain shower and a handheld spray shower head. Housekeeping does a good job keeping the mainly uncarpeted floorings, clean. Beddings are clean. Rooms are of a fair size. The morning buffet breakfast spread (space also used for weekend buffets) on the 11th floor is okay, comparable to other hotels in Penang of the same price band. The security who manages parking are courteous and helpful. The Negatives: The really narrow stretch of beach in front of the hotel is full of litter. You neither want to sit on the beach or swim in it (full of jellyfish whilst we were there). This hotel is on a very narrow piece of land and you do feel constricted. There are no gardens, outdoor landed pools or walks in this hotel. Its like being on a cruise ship! The swimming pool on the 10th floor is really tiny. The smallest I have seen of the many, many hotels by the sea in Penang that I have stayed at, over many many years. Smaller than on cruise ships! The gym is small and smells, situated in an inconspicous closed room, at a corner of the tenth floor. There are only 3 lifts on our wing serving 32 floors. It is always a wait. The car park is tight and so is the lane leading to and fronting the hotel. Negatives: Special Mention! The only other eating outlet, besides the 11th floor buffet breakfast area, is on the ground floor (Elementos). It is on a nice verandah/platform facing the sea however, it is very poorly managed, it is dismal! I had to ask for a table cloth (tables on this platform facing the sea are open to elements and some are covered with table cloths, some are not, it apparently, will depend on who is serving you). I had to walk over to give my order after waiting for > 20 mins and then one hour later, had to walk over again to ask for, and by then, got the plates and cuttleries myself, to set the table, whilst my 83 year old mother sat hungry! Then I had to followup again for the dishes to be served. After complaining to a front desk manager, it finally dribbled in.. mains, then starters, one at a time! Eventually... we all lost our appetite!!! None of us enjoyed the meal or the evening. The food and price by Penang hotel standard is so..so. However, the entertainment on that Saturday night was really shockingly bad, we felt relieved when they (duo guitarist & singer) went for their breaks! It may be really worthwhile for the hotel's management to review all these, especially the customer facing management of 'Elementos', to make better use of the only scenic open air space at this hotel. Overall: If you are planning for a beach holiday by the sea or pool, this is really not the hotel you want to be in after hours of flight! There are other hotels of similar price band that would give you a better feel about Penang. If you are on a business trip and not have to worry about car parking as you are being chaffeured or using Grab, but want to see the sea from your room window and feel fresh after a shower (without being stuck in longer traffic jams from Batu Feringghi to the city centre) you may want to consider this hotel... but only if you are not using it for entertaining or meetings over meals. Regretfully, despite quite a number of helpful, enthusiastic staff, in my view, this is really just a 3 star hotel. …
