No complaints with the room, but like most hotels, only have small water glasses. I went to ask for a couple of larger glasses and was told the bar/restaurant was closed until 8pm and the receptionist (the only person on duty it seems) did not have access.
Next morning, breakfast was not great. The only egg option was hard boiled!!!! They did have sausages and bacon, but both looked so unappetising that we passed on them.
Location wise, it is not in a great area of La Linea, a 10-15 minute walk to the main areas past some unappealing buildings, but obviously thereās not much Marriott can do about that.
Well located.
Park along the street instead, it was easy to get parking there and you save 11 Euro per night.
Breakfast was probably a joke. Worse than breakfasts are in the US. There is no hot just cold food. If you want eggs, bacon or something else hot, you should not take this hotel. But as I said, it is very nice near the beach and takes 20 minutes to walk to the border. We took the car and parked on an alley for free, so we did not have to walk.
Think about bringing the passport otherwise it will be complicated.
When it comes to AC, which more or less everyone has complained about, that's right. It is substandard in the rooms, which they should be able to fix. Had they been better breakfast and AC which was better they would have gotten 4 in rating by me.
Very noisy, you can hear neighbours moving chairs. Very outdated, was refurbisched, but a lot of black fungus in the room, loose wallpaper an plaster coming from the ceiling.
Strong cleaning smell in the room. Probably to disguise another smell
Very slow internet, every 5 minutes we had to login again.
It's a very bad neighourhood. Nasty types. We had to run for a pittbull.
Unless you like beating cockroaches don't go there.
I was used to have high class at Marriot, but this was a very big disappointing experience.
I dont understand the high ratings.
Later I saw a rating with the same problems. I'm glad we are not the only ones.
The hotel isn't amazing, but it's like an old friend, because you know what to expect. The staff have long memories, and remember guests who have stayed previously, even more than two years previously, with a welcoming approach.
The hotel is convenient if you have a car and want to be close to both Gibraltar and some nice empty beaches. It's also a short walk to the centre of La Linea, where there are plenty of bars and restaurants.
The only improvements would be safes in the rooms instead of having to leave valuables in safes next to reception, and please add some English-speaking television channels, for which you don't even need a satellite dish, being so close to Gibraltar. I mentioned the latter in my review two years ago, so I'm disappointed that this still hasn't been done.
The pool was closed so cannot review that but the rooms were clean and nicely furnished, but the bed hurt.
We didn't eat at the hotel, not even breakfast, just around the corner were Spanish bars with much better coffee and in the evenings we did the 10 minute walk to restaurant La luna (on the beach) or into the main square.
Enjoy you're stay.
The hotel caters to passersby, workers coming in town. Staff is friendly and room was very clean. It is a cheap and cheaper alternative to a stay in Gib but this place is reaching its end of life
We paid 132 euros for 2 nights, barely worth this price
The reception staff were nice and I was able to check in a little earlier than advertised. Plus for that! The room was quite large and had a working air conditioner, which was however turned down when I arrived. There were various toiletries to choose from in the room, such as toothbrush kit. The view was okay. However, you could hear sounds both from outside and from the corridor, which lowers the rating. The sounds you heard were people talking.
I would consider staying here again, but would not recommend anyone with a mobility impairment to choose this hotel.
