Loved this small hotel. Everything was just right - perfectly designed, amazing bed and linens, great toiletries, beautiful rainshower, perfect lighting, lovely room scent etc. Would have loved to have tried the restaurant but there was no one dining when we were there and that didn't create the best atmosphere. Very nice breakfast on the inner courtyard.

This is by far one of the best small hotels I have stayed in in 20 years of world travel A sympathetic renovation of a stunning 1700 town villa hidden in the winding back streets of the ancient town We stayed in their loft family room - bleached wood and white with wet room and large art style pendant lamps...

We were recommended by a local wine maker Marco de Grazia of Tenuta delle Terre Nere, that Shalai’s restaurant was one of the best in Sicily. We were spending three days in Taormina but decided that we must visit the restaurant. When we called they told us that they were having a special wine dinner of Benanti Wines, but we...

I liked everything about this hotel. The staff is wonderful, attentive and very friendly. The wine list is amazing and the food is delicious. The room was very comfortable and the whirlpool, sauna and steam was the perfect ending after a tour of Etna. We stayed two nights and when we stay again...it will be longer.

We stayed two nights at this hotel. We enjoyed the help of the staff to give us advice on things to do in the area and places to go eat. They speak well english and some french as well. We really enjoyed the spa (hot tub, turkish bath and sauna with great fresh drinks and teas), which is very relaxing...

Stayed only one night at the Shalai - wished we could have stayed longer. We were made very welcome by the staff, our room on the first floor was magnificent - huge painted ceiling full of cherubs and swirling clouds, polished concrete floor, fab stoneclad bathroom, it was all faultless. The spa is very good too and a late afternoon...

We spent two overnights in this charming hotel. Our rooms was very large and comfortable. We enjoyed about its barroque painting on the ceiling. The spa is nice including a Turkish bath and a sauna. The restaurant is a bit cold however the Sicilian dishes are delicious . All the staffs at the front desk and the waiters in the...

We stayed in Linguaglossa to see Etna and to avoid the horror show that is Taomina. Linguaglossa itself is a very plain, dark small town, which is why it was surprising to find such a frankly hip hotel. But it was built predominantly to look after the Skiers in the season. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated very relaxing with...

Just back from one night at Shalai. By no means is the town an attraction but it is very easy to get to Taromina and if you wanted to do some excursion to Etna you are well located. The palace has been beautifully restored and our room had an amazing fresco. It is certainly an excellent blend of old and...
