They stay at the hotel is similar with those budget hotel, no aircon only fan (seriously no need aircon at all). The top of the mountain is sufficient to cool you down. The view and mall are exceptional good. The worst of part of the journey is when you check out the hotel, if you stay at the lower floor, you basically have to wait for more than 40mins before you had a chance to board. Imagine 7000+ rooms check out at the same time.
This hotel though named themselves the largest hotel in the world, but I must say it is also one of the oldest and dirtiest hotel in the world. Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in July 2022 and was assigned a room in Tower 2, the room has very poor lighting and everything from the carpet floor to the coffee table looks extremely dirty with loads of stains. Stepped into the bathroom and saw a used and wet towel hanging at the door, which I believe was left by the previous tenant, and this means that the housekeeping was not done properly. Saw 2 new towels in the bathroom but its stained as well, luckily I bought my own towel along for the trip. To make things worse, a couple of the room lighting are not working and no one in the hotel can be bothered to fix it. Though mentioned that no housekeeping will be provided due to the Covid measures, however the staff will clear the bins daily. but for my 2 nights stay, no one came to clear the bins and we actually stayed in the room for 2 nights along with the bins full of trash. Saw some staff cleaning up other rooms so we went to them and requested them to clear our trash, they agreed but nothing was done eventually. The room is so dirty that I develop itchy rashes after staying for the 2 nights, and have to visit the doctor after I am back to Singapore. Overall, one of the worst hotels ever, if you have no choice but to stay there, just make sure you spent minimum time in the room.…
We took a coach from Singapore from 7am & arrived at about 230pm & the self checking in kiosk was giving us so much problems we can't check in. I was traveling with my folks & they were tired from the ride & needed a room to rest. We queued almost an hour before we were being served by Roskartini at the Front Desk. She was very helpful and was giving us her tiptop service. I asked for 2 rooms with the hill view. We went up and realised that my room was facing another room and my parent's room was next to the generator. We went down & asked for replacement of rooms. She immediately found us 2 rooms with hill view but we had to come back at 7pm for the change. We were absolutely thankful for her help. She deserved to be praised for her service. To the hotel: 1) Between 4pm to 7pm, i went to the room number that was given to me to check the status of my rooms & realised both rooms already cleaned and sealed but front desk was not updated. If it had been immediately cleared, we could have had the rooms earlier. 2) The new machines for self check-in is a mess. The old machine was so much better and easier. Having earn so much money as a hotel and offer such a messy system is really a failure. 3) Your hotel has 7000+ rooms now and how could you only have 4 front desk officers handling the crowd and has a stretch of more than 15 service counters? I think you should work to give a better image and service. I do hope the next round when I am back I can see improved service. Thank you. …
Queue through the counter required long waiting time and extra payment. Used the kiosk , recommend that you select which floor you want based on the avalibility and your needs for RM5. Do note that Tower 2 still use old room from 23rd to 28th floor.
We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights and hoped all the bad reviews in tripadvisor were wrong. And they were RIGHT. Last time We were in Genting , We stayed in Ion Delemen which requires shuttle thus less inconvinient compared to First World in terms of Location. Check In and Check Out Both are HORROR Experience. Wr came around 3 in the afternoon and the que is astonishing. The self kiosk were unable to read our passport. This process took 2 hours Check out time even worst. The lifts are all over capacity made us wait about 1 hour. Room is super small and dirty. The saving grace is location
Room at Tower 3, level 10 I generally do not fuss but the room was terrible! Unacceptable that even the sink was dirty. Moulds at sink, tv rack, windows. Floor was so dirty. Even the kettle - wiped with tissue and it was brown :( Yes, it was very slow is past years but that’s no reason for such filth. Direction outside points to water dispenser but cannot find any. Location is good. Wifi not so stable. Horrible room.
I have stayed at First World Hotel numerous times pre-covid, however, our most recent stay (June 2022) was a really disappointing one. Pre-covid, the rooms were usually very clean and comfortable despite the affordable prices. I have always enjoyed my stay there. However, this recent stay really made me think twice about having to stay there again for our future trips. On Day 1, we had to queue for about 45 minutes for check-in. There were plenty of kiosks for online check-in but of course, that did not work (atleast for us). Thus, we had to queue up. We checked in at about 2.30pm and the front desk staff assisted us with our registration, etc. and advised us to come back at about 3-3.30pm as our rooms were not ready. He also advised us that we can simply approach any staff at the kiosks for assistance (hence, no need to queue up again). This was not an issue to us, so we left our luggages at the counter and went to have lunch. We came back at about 4pm, got our luggages and tried to approach one of the staff at the kiosks. We waited in line behind another guest who was being served by a Chinese (or Malay) lady with shoulder-length hair, spectacles and wearing a black blazer and black skirt. Just as she was done with that guest, she abruptly just walked away despite us calling out for her politely. Shortly after, she came back and was trying to fix one of the kiosks, and once again, we tried to seek her assistance as all the other staff were occupied. Again, she COMPLETELY IGNORED us like as if she was deaf. Her back was turned towards us the WHOLE TIME despite us asking if she was able to help us. The least she could do is just turn around, apologize, and direct us to another staff or atleast inform us nicely that she will need some time to fix the machine and tell us to approach another staff instead of TOTALLY ignoring us?! Shortly after, luckily for us, we managed to find another available staff named Zashar (?), a tall Malay guy wearing spectacles who assisted us. However, do note that once again, the kiosk was not able to get us our rooms and even reflected that we were not registered yet and there were no available rooms for us. Imagine our frustration! Fortunately, Zashar was helpful and tried his best to rectify the issue by seeking assistance from some of his colleagues to check on the error. Eventually, after about another 30 minutes wait, they finally managed to check us in successfully and we could all proceed to our assigned rooms. Second issue was about the cleanliness of ALL our 3 rooms. Mine had tons of dust, balls of hair and even a used straw under my bed. Discovered them when we tried to combine the 2 single beds. I could be wrong, but it just seemed like all the dust were just conveniently swept under the bed instead of being vacuumed. Our towels had black stains on it and also one of the pillow cases. We called the receptionist to request for a change of towels and pillow case. The curtains and fan were also dusty. When we first turned on the fan, 3 balls of dust fell from the blades. Even the area to hang our clothes was such a weird layout (making it difficult to hang our clothes) and the bottom was also filled with dust. My brother's and parents' rooms also generally faced the same issues with dust but my brother's room in particular, had a bunch of insects or flies clustered on the ceiling near the entrance door. We tried to ask the housekeeping staff to assist us to sweep it down but they only told us that it was not possible as they are just going to be on the floor instead. As we were really tired by the time we got our rooms and wanted to rest, we only tried to request for a change of rooms the following day. We went down at about 7.30am and queued up at the lobby. Once it was our turn, staff advised us to try again at 11am-12pm after guests have checked out. Fair enough. At about 12pm, once again, there was a very long queue at the lobby, so we tried our luck to call the receptionist from our room instead to see if they had any available rooms we could change to. The staff said that she would get the front desk staff to call us back but of course, even after 30 minutes, there was no call back from them. I called again to say that it has been 30 minutes and shortly after, the front desk staff returned our call only to tell us to head down to the lobby to check for available rooms. It was such a waste of time. Even if they required us to queue up at the lobby, the first staff could have simply told us that, right?? So we immediately went straight to the lobby and firstly tried to ask the staff at the 'General Enquiries' counter (i think it was counter 17) to ask if there was any available rooms as we found it no point to queue up for another 45 minutes only to be told that there are no room. The staff at the counter (a plump Malay male) told us to queue up at the general queue. When I tried to ask if he was able to atleast check if there are any available rooms so that we won't waste time queuing for atleast another 45 minutes and that we wanted a change of rooms because we had another 3 nights stay there and it will just be very uncomfortable for us to stay in the rooms that we were assigned to, he simply interrupted me and said it was first come first serve, etc. He even just walked away from the counter after that, without allowing me to finish speaking. The least he could do was to hear my concerns and atleast apologize for the dirty rooms! At this point, we decided that it was just no point wasting time having to queue up to check on the rooms and just made do with the dirty rooms for another 3 nights. Do note that for some reason, they do not do housekeeping and will only do so until you have checked out. So in our case, there was no housekeeping for 4 nights, however, they did enter our rooms to clear out the trash. Pre-covid, housekeeping was done daily. Honestly, this is not an issue to me as most hotels do that now to minimize any contact but at the very least, I would expect a clean room from the time I checked in. While I understand that being the biggest hotel, they might have faced shortage of manpower after Covid, I believe that there is no excuse for the staff to be rude to the guests. I, myself, work in the customer service industry and to experience this was simply disappointing. Imagine having at staff to COMPLETELY IGNORE you and another staff to simply walk away while you were trying to voice your concerns?? Regarding the cleanliness, I am still able to understand as the hotel is fully booked and the housekeeping team has tons of rooms to clean. But the least the frontline service staff at the front desk could do was to atleast show some empathy or at the very least apologize for the inconvenience? I understand that sometimes there are only so much any hotel staff can do about certain situations but at the very least please do not be rude to your guests!! I did not think that I was being rude at any point of time and would expect the same treatment back from the staff. Because of this, I might think twice about having to stay here again for our future stays. Location was excellent, but service was utterly disappointing.…
Check-in system seriously needs immediate improvement. Total waiting time took us almost 4hrs! No clear instruction on self check in kiosk. Hiccup when doing checkin with young children. Need to join in the snake queue to ask front desk for help when we only left 1 room to check in. Front desk queue is moving too slow. Room is very dusty and I had to do my own housekeeping. Sink has many dark stains. Curtains n ledges are covered in layer of dust.
After many years, we visited Genting Highland again just to see any new changes. Yes, definitely a lot of changes. It has become more stylish but also very, very expensive. Price of food is similar to Singapore if not more expensive. Stayed at First World hotel with a breathtaking mountain view. To book such room, we have to top up an amount but the view is worth it. Also there are no hooks inside the shower cubicle, You need to come out to the washhand area to dry yourself, wear your clothes and there's no door protecting your nakedness.
We paid peanuts so did not expect much. Had warned my son that we were in genting for the fun and not the room so don't expect much. He said simplicity of the room is too overwhelming when he entered haha. Customer service was non existent so help yourselves for any needs. We were on a non smoking floor but I think the air circulation brings in air from smoking rooms so the toilet in our room always felt like a smoking area. Check in will take at least an hour for weekdays. We were there on a Monday. Genting itself was nice though. U will never run out of food options. Indoor amusement park was a good place for kids to take rides. Weather was super nice. Wifi was provided but non existent. Cannot even load an image from WhatsApp haha :)
