Detailed Reviews
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this hotel. We arrived well before check in time and our room was ready for us- likewise we asked for a late check out which was provided with no problem.
Staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was delicious, breakfast was a winner. Loads of choice , fresh and didn’t finish early.
Pool areas was spotless, no rush for sunbeds people just came and went as they pleased.
Our room was lovely and spacious, air con, fridge and big balcony (we had a suite) deffo worth paying a bit extra for.
10 min walk to the beach, supermarket 1 min round the corner. Perfect location set back form the hustle and bustle whilst being close enough to bars and restaurants.
Only criticism would be drinks are a little pricy in the hotel for what they are.
We will certainly return in the future.

Staff are exceptionally friendly and efficient, the hotel public areas and rooms are very clean. Towels and linens were changed frequently. Most rooms come equipped with a fridge, microwave, hob, and basic utensils. Food at breakfast and dinner was plentiful and of a good standard. We found the beds quite hard but this was remedied by housekeeping providing additional mattress toppers. The spa is amazing, with great staff - two large pools, jacuzzis, hammam, sauna, ice pool, water jets. Only downside was the fact that some of our continental cousins thought it fine to go naked in the hot rooms despite signs requesting bathing costumes be worn. Question of hygiene there!
Would have rated 5* but for the fact that you’re not allowed to consume any of your own snacks or beverages (Fanta, coke, water etc) by the pool, a policy presumably to oblige you to pay hotel prices. The life guards would serve you with a notice saying “no food allowed” if they observed you. This was the only niggle in an otherwise very good stay.

What a wonderful hotel and the staff were fantastic. We arrived early and were told that the room had already been prepared for us so we could check-in straight away. Room was VERY spacious, clean and provided us with everything we needed including a big double sink bathroom and big walk in shower which was brilliant for our weeks stay.
You have a choice of 3 outdoor pools and you are not encouraged to place towels on the recliners, we went down around 10:30 to 11 to stretch out in the sun and never had a problem getting a pair of recliners. There is also a small pool inside in the spa area.
We stayed half board and thought that the choice of food was brilliant and we were also told by our tui rep that we had chosen one of the best hotels in Majorca to eat and stay to which we would certainly agree with.
We came mainly to relax so we were not that bothered when we discovered that not many British holidaymakers came here, so we didn't really socialise with anyone and after 4 months of work without a break we just wanted time together to chill out and spend time together.
The bus to Palma is numbered 25 and costs €2 each way. You get on from the stop which is the 2nd road above the beach. The number 25 bus does a circuit route to palma so you can't go wrong. It's also the bus to the aquarium.
We feel that to get the best out of a holiday you have to find a hotel that provides comfortable rooms & beds, a high standard of cleanliness, well prepared and cooked food, courteous staff who definitely put your needs foremost. Grupotel definitely does this and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you all at Playa for the welcome.

A huge clean hotel with over 300 suites/rooms , 4 swimming pools and plenty of space for guests . It is an oasis containing plenty of facilities as the immediate surroundings are empty of anything useful . There is evening entertainment most nights which finishes around 2230 so is not intrusive. . A nice supermarket is within a few minutes walking distance which closes on Sundays . The walk to the beach and promenade takes 10 minutes where there is a pharmacy and lots of busy bars , eating places and night life .
The hotel food is fine with plenty of choices to please and satisfy everyone . The Spa is recommended and the swimmers pools are fantastic with plenty of sun beds so no “booking “ necessary unlike many other hotels .
The hotel staff are kept busy but usually great you with a smile especially those in reception and the lifeguards around the pools were very attentive.
We were based in the same block as the reception and breakfast areas but dinner was in another building which involved a 200 yard walk and 2 lifts . Not a journey recommend for anyone with mobility’s issues .
It is advised that the hotel is explored shortly after arrival .
There were some niggles eg wi fi intermittent, some insects in the room , only hotel drinks allowed the pool areas , no wheelchairs for getting around the hotel .

+1
When arriving at 12pm our room was all ready , the room was massive we had a swim up room which was worth it , the room had so much space and a nice big bathroom , we used the rooftop pool mostly and it was always quiet and the bar staff up there were friendly , we were from the uk and found the majority of guests were German and the hotel seemed catered to them , the breakfast in the main restaurant wasn’t the best so we had breakfast at the rooftop restaurant which was okay but the staff were rude . Apart from this the hotel was lovely , everything was clean and we used the spa which was good aswell just the spa staff seemed ignorant but this didn’t ruin our experience . Overall a lovely hotel the snack bar had lovely food at lunch time and the hotel was a good location next to the beach and a short taxi to nearby locations like Palma City , Magaluf

We paid extra to get 2 x one bedroom suites for family. What we didn’t expect was the suite will be overlooking a car park and facing a noisy ‘young persons’ hotel. We did ask to be moved when we arrived and the offish receptionist said only if we paid more! We decided to stay. The room was nice with walkin shower. Good fridge. I think the balconies on the suites are smaller than studio rooms. Though we had double as at the beginning of row. Maids very friendly.
2 areas for breakfast, both of excellent quantity and quality. Though when we went to the Sky area for breakfast we were told we should go to the other restaurant based on where our room was by the lady that runs the area. She talked down her nose to us. We went anyway as she arrived after we finished and there was always plenty of space and some lovely views that was missing from our bedroom. The breakfast staff were very pleasant.
There are so many beds at the pools, you can get one at anytime of the day, really no need to rush. You are requested not to drink around the pool, however, that doesn’t seem to apply to water.
The pools were so warm and lovely to spend time in.
We ate lunch by the pool, however, my daughter has Coeliac disease and has to follow a strict gluten free diet. They are not trained in this or we felt understand the importance of it and she was very restricted in what she could eat as they were not helpful and said no pasta or bread for a sandwich. Just salad or pizza.
Quiet of an evening, not many children at the hotel, which suited us. Easy walk to beach and to the lively town, though it is full of young adults. An excellent supermarket close to the hotel.
It is a shame about room and lunch but we did enjoy our stay but probably would not go back because of this.

The hotel residents were predominantly German, as is the local resort area. The hotel is geared for adults and is the reason we selected it, and we were not disappointed in our choice. Our suite had a lovely balcony facing onto the pool. Breakfast had a great selection. It had to start with complimentary Cava and orange juice. The pool is a decent size and suitable for swimming lengths. The staff are friendly and competent . A treatment in the spa was good as was the spa facilities . there was plenty of car parking available outside the hotel as it it in a quiet area. Keep the air conditioning on at night, it is not noisy once it reaches the temperature.

Beautiful hotel. Staff was very friendly and especially the ones at Breakfast especially Anna Maria (with glasses) We stayed here more than a week . The spa was great and clean and had different sauna options. It was very easy to communicate with them also and most spoke Spanish and German. The rooms are however very thin walled so you can basically hear almost everything happening in the next room especially at night. If you are a family visiting with children please ask before hand about the spa area because there were families with children and the parents didn’t like the idea of seeing naked men and women coming from the sauna to the shower area and there were little fights here and there regarding this. Absolutely loved our stay

We just spent 7 days at Grupotel Playa de Palma Suites & Spa. The first impression when arriving late at night, was a pleasent greeting by the, throughout the trip, friendly reception staff.
However, the day after the kindness of the staff severely changed. When entering the morning buffet, we were greeted by the staff and spoken to in German (we are from Denmark, and do not speak German). As I speak Spanish, I kindly told the person that we did not speak german, but that we spoke English and Spanish. This was not received nicely by the staff, and I was told not to speak to them in such a tone, whereafter I, relatively surprised by her outburst, told her there was no intention to speak in a bad tone, nor did I believe I addressed her in a bad tone. This should turn out to be an ongoing problem throughout the 7-day stay.
Several similar situations with the restaurant and bar personnel reoccured, whether them treating us differently than the other German guests, applying special rules for us, such as not being able to have a soft drink in the pool, while the other guests were drinking their mojitos in the pool, "forgetting" our orders despite the fact that we're a mere minimal of guests at the hotel (15% occupancy or less).
This culminated with us ordering lunch at the restaurant one of the last days prior to our departure, where we ordered our food. The staff got the order wrong (which I am naturally aware of mistakes can happen), however, when the food arrived and we made them understand we ordered different plates than what had arrived, the staff very unprofessionally insisted that it was the food we had ordered, and almost had us apologize to them for the inconvenience.
To sum it all up: The surroundings of the hotel is nice, the staff in general is kind, but sadly due to the very lousy service and discomfort that the restaurant and bar staff managed to provide, this is NOT a hotel I would return to, nor would I recommend any of my acquaintances to travel there either. - Which I reckon is a shame.

Pros
- Excellent and efficient employees at reception
- incredibly friendly staff, from waiters to cleaners
- ability to order extra bits from housekeeping through the app (our cleaning lady accidentally removed one of our towels, we ordered a replacement through their app and it was brought to our room very swiftly)
- lovely outdoor pool
- great rooms that keep the noise out
- nice breakfast
- excellent, reliable air con
- safe, clean environment
- very close to the airport
Could be improved upon:
- quality of the dinner buffet was a bit meh, food was ok but I'd rather have less selection and higher quality food
- not enough sun loungers by the pool
- spa area is a nice touch but the sauna is fairly useless, it doesn't seem to go beyond 55 degrees celcius so you won't really break a sweat and reap the health benefits
Overall would 100% recommend this hotel and I will stay here again if we return to Mallorca.

Hi Lee sorry we don't know the name of the rooms with the large balconys ..what we recall is all balconies were open ...except the ground floor rooms in the NEW part of the hotel which were enclosed...but the rooms in the new part were fantastic
Can't say how many room sorry, but a lovely hotel. Only draw backs, it us very German orientated and the local area is very shabby.
