We spent a night in this cozy little hostel while hiking the Picos de Europa. It is in a beautiful setting with some excellent views of the Urrieles massifs. Be prepared for community living. Dinner is served at a designated time with everyone eating family style. Also, there are strict hours as to when you can be in the sleeping area, and everyone is sleeping in one large room in multi-level bunk beds. The food was delicious and the sleeping quarters got the job done. Also, they have beer and wine if you feel like a good beverage after a long day of hiking. All in all, it is everything you need from a mountaintop hostel.

Amazing location (see website photos) allows a great overnight hike from the easy to access Lagos de Covadonga. They are really short on water here so there is a compost toilet (fabulous) but no sinks. Just one tap a few hundred meters away that requires a special key to open kept by the refuge. You can book an evening meal and breakfast to save you carrying it. As with most mountain refuges expect to sleep within10cm of your fellow guests on three sides and bring ear plugs. Getting up quietly in the night to open the window is recommended. A short walk up to the hill to see the sunset is practically compulsory. Refuse to go and be scorned! Open between May and October. Booking advisable.
