The location is just on the edge of the town center, making it very convenient. We were on a motorbike and they suggested we park on the footpath against the front wall of the hotel. The staff were friendly and spoke much better English than my Spanish. The room was top floor and the low roof impacted on part of the room. It was not a problem as such, but you did have to be a little careful. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fully equipped and spotless.
Cangas De Onis is a small town, nice history and buildings, full of restaurants and walks. I recommend it. The Hotel Santa Cruz is very well located, like all the hotels seen the town is small. So you park your car close, convenient, you have very friendly staff, convenient, you have a nice clean room.............but paper walls and in case noisy youngsters on your floor, hell to sleep.....they fart, you hear......On top, front facing rooms have another nice topic, the street where constant traffic prevents you from keeping the windows open. A very positive note however, the breakfast buffet is very nice, fresh and varied and the man servicing the breakfast room a delight, so friendly.
This is a really nice little hotel near to the town centre and river. My room was just off the reception and it was very modern and clean. It had a very nice large bathroom with plenty of soaps and towels. Good sized wardrobe too. There is no parking at the hotel, although I just parked on the street outside and there is a community carpark about 50 meters away. The restaurant was deserted when I went for dinner at 9:30pm, I think there were not many guests perhaps due to the time of year, but the meal was delicious. The waiter didn't speak English (why would he) but we worked it out and I had a very pleasant evening. The hotel is a very short walk from a lively old town with a nice river walk too.
We've been in this hotel during this summer with our baby of 14 months. They charged us for the breakfast of our child because she ate only one crepe and 2 slices of watermelon. I cut also 2 slices of melon for the afternoon because my girl did not eat well and I took a slice of cake for her also. The waitress was all that time looking at me and shout at me "no, you can't take away some food from here", I said "it's juste a piece of cake for my baby of 14 months", she said "ok for once"!! We were very surprised by this reaction because we were traveling for 2 weeks and nobody said anything for that. But the very big surprise was at the check out, when the hotel asked us to paid 6 euros for the breakfast of my baby! I said to them that she just ate a crepe and a piece of watermelon, but they dit not want to change and charge us of 6 euros. Finally, it's not a question of money, but shouting at us not to take some piece of food and after force us to pay for a breakfast of a 14months' girl was incredible. I do not recommend this hotel anymore! Services awful! I have never seen that in my live, they do not want children.…
We had booked ahead on a half board arrangement for our one night stay. The hotel is located on a side road off the main street through the town. Whilst there is not any on-site parking, there is a public car park within two minutes walk. Our receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Our room was modern and relatively. Dinner was very good with four choices of starter and main course with fruit, cheesecake, chocolate gateau or a yogurt to finish. Drinks seemed to be included too. Breakfast was continental in style with pastries, breads, cereals, cold hams and cheeses. We thought this was very good value.
