This is my 3rd time at this resort and I feel like that says a lot already. Karen who works in the breakfast buffet (La Plaza) was so lovely, every morning when we would arrive she would get my friend's coffee and both of our lemonades while we were getting food. The entertainment staff once again was fantastic! I saw some familiar faces, Daniel and Nare, both of them remembered me and welcomed me back. I met Oscar, Sergio, Juliana, Rose, Elihut, and Jimmy for the first time and they were all amazing. They made the experience so special and I can't wait to return.

Hotel's Favourite
This was our first time staying at Iberostar, and we will definitely be back. Other resorts that we have stayed at in the last 3 years include Grand Sirenis and Ocean Riviera. What we loved: - The huge pool with many lounge chairs. - The variety of activities!! There was always something to do. We took full advantage of the many activities put on by the amazing Entertainment Team and the night shows. Shout out to JP, Oscar, Daniel, Nerada and Juliana (and any others I have forgotten). You are amazing!! - The app. A lot of people complained about the app in the reviews, but we thought it was amazing. The map was very valuable during the first couple days of learning our way around the resort. The activities calendar was perfect. And we could reserve our a la carte dinners on the app!!! OMG. Life changing. Huge kudos to the app developers. - The shopping mall was awesome - we visited the coffee shop every day, the ice cream shop and the hamburger and taco restaurants were also great when we needed a break from the buffet. - We never did make it to the gym because we were busy with other activities, but it looked amazing and the number of classes being offered was quite extensive. - The beach was very nice. - The patio/balcony in the room was nice and spacious, and covered. Great for sitting and relaxing for a bit. - I love, love, love the water filters on each floor. Environmentally, this is huge. Our floor had one that was motion sensored, and it did not work. But the one on the other floor had a button. I loved being able to fill my water bottle as often as I wanted, and not searching for water. - I love the small environmentally friendly aspects - soap, lotion, shampoo, etc, all in big bottles. - The service was great everywhere. Everyone that we interacted with was extremely friendly. What we liked/could use improvement: - The rooms were good; basic but just fine. As mentioned by others, there were only 3 plugs, so do bring a power box or something that allows you to charge more than one device in one plug (if you have a lot of devices). - The food was okay. I am not a big eater, so I don't really care - but my daughter was a little disappointed with the buffet. The one thing we would definitely like to see more is guacamole. For some reason we only found guacamole at breakfast. It would have been nice at lunch time and dinner. - We were in block 39 and it was loud with the night-time entertainment until 11pm. If you have young kids, or like to go to bed early, try to get a room further from the Theaters. Luckily the loud music always ended by 11, so it was manageable, but I feel like they could turn it down a touch... Needless to say, we will be back. We definitely recommend this resort, and if you want a slightly more upscale experience, try the Lindu, which is one price-point up from Paraiso Beach. The Del Mar is one price point lower, but I don't know if there are any significant differences between the Del Mar and the Beach.

The grounds of this resort are gorgeous. We loved walking everywhere and seeing the peacocks along our way. You can jump on a golf cart almost anywhere but we loved the walking. I also appreciated having several smaller buildings instead of a large high rise. Francisco made the breakfast buffet wonderful for us. He remembered our coffee order and was so attentive. The lunch buffet at the Trattoria was also a highlight. Do not miss the Mexican Fair at the shopping plaza on Monday nights. We were so impressed by the dancers and had fun with the dance lessons. We learned quickly that to get decent seats at the beach, you need to be at the beach around 7am. The pool seemed to always have ample seating. The rooms were fine but the bathrooms could use some updating. We did love having the balconies. I recommend floor 2 or 3. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again.

Had a wonderful time at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach resort. Good variety of food at the a la carte restaurants and the buffets. Quality was perfectly acceptable. Quantity was more than ample. Loved the beach and ocean. Surf was up for the first few days due to strong winds. After this period it moderated. The best section of beach is by the lifeguard station and boat rentals. We stayed for 10 days. The hotel runs a shuttle to Playa del Carmen twice a day. Round trip cost is 200 pesos. Was pleased that the hotel has its own Catholic church, which is part of the shopping center (see photos). Mass is on Sundays at 6 PM in English and Spanish. Our room was fine although we got 2 double beds instead of the king size we asked for. This was the only shortcoming we found.

Our family of 5 stayed for 7days in a 2 bedroom Family suite (2 rooms connected by adjoining door). Beds were comfortable and the showers were hot. The property is very clean, however I would like to see more garbage cans (they are very hard to find in public areas). We had a la cartes for every night but the reservations are hard to get for a reasonable time and we were often only able to get a 9pm and subsequently missed the evening show every night. Further, when we were the a la carte the restaurant was half occupied (or less) which made it more disappointing. The food was ok... nothing spectacular but no one got sick from it. Octavio did his best to get us a reservation for dinner every night, which we were thankful for. The beach/ocean was great and completely swimmable for the kids. Some seaweed but nothing too awful. Most disappointing was the disrespect by guests who reserve chairs by the pool and then never show up to sit in them. * I watched one couple come and put towels and a couple inexpensive 'personal type' items on 2 front row chairs and 2 loungers in the water and walked off in street cloths with running shoes and a backpack... not to be seen again in the 4 hours we spent at the pool. * The following day we had placed our towels on a 2 chairs for 5 people and went to the buffet for breakfast and when we came back 30mins later our towels had been removed by concierge. * (the inconsistency of the rules makes the whole situation worse) Overall, our vacation was very good. Much needed time with the family and in the sun.

We travelled to Iberostar Paraiso Beach with Sunwing for our son’s wedding (a group of 56). I will provide a detailed review and break it up by topic for ease of reference. AIRPORT/SUNWING: not directly related to the resort but since it was such a disappointment, worthy of information for anyone considering this resort and a trip through Cancun airport. Arrival was a mess as we waited on the plane 20 mins before getting a gate (Terminal 2). You are then bused to the Terminal (no skybridge). Then there were 3 separate flights’ luggage coming out on the same carrousel, then our bus wasn’t there. We had to wait 45 mins before the bus showed up. Departure was even worse. Bus showed up 30 mins late, then there were 4 flights (all Sunwing) scheduled to depart within 20 mins of each other so everyone was checking-in at the same time. The line was insane, stretched across the whole Terminal. This caused our flight to be delayed by an hour. CHECK-IN/OUT RESORT: we finally made it to the resort around 5 pm (flight landed at 220pm…). Resort is about 20 mins from the airport. Things definitely got better. Check-in was quick considering the size of our group arriving at the same time. Then a bell boy took us by cart directly to our room. I had sent an e-mail to the resort requesting bldg. 34, top floor, king bed and we got exactly that. Room 3451, a Premium Near Pool room. Check-out was also very quick, paying the environmental tax by CC (approx. 17 Cdn). Staying at Iberostar Paraiso Beach does give you access to the Del Mar section next door. ROOM: as mentioned, we were in room 3451. Room includes a balcony (ours overlooked the main service road where trams go by and many folks walk from beach to lobby. Trams are electric so no big noise. Room includes the king bed, small table and chair, desk, coffee maker, mini fridge with 2 beers and some soda, Flat TV with many channels, closet with electronic safe, iron and ironing board, many hangers and a few shelves for clothes. Not a lot of storage space for clothes though. Bathroom has toiletries, facecloths, good quality hairdryer and towels. Toilet is within the bathroom near sink but there is a door for the whole bathroom. AC worked well (set at 22) and lots of hot water in the shower. Toilet worked well too. Maid service was exceptional. Luis, our maid, was like clockwork, cleaning our room perfectly everyday before 10 am. Balcony has a table and two chairs. FOOD: as we were part of a wedding group, we had a couple of events planned for dinner but we still used our 3 a la cartes reservations (you can use the Iberostar App to make your reservations which worked great). We ate at the buffet only one dinner (the 1st night) and it was Italian night (theme night every day). It was good with decent choices. We ate at the buffet every morning which was again good but can be busy as only two eggs station and omelettes are made one at a time. Otherwise service was good. We ate at the French (Colonial) 2nd night. The filet mignon was one of the best I have had at any AI resort including 5*. Excellent food and service. We ate at the Italian the 5th night (Trattoria). Entrees are buffet style then there is a menu for dinner and desert. Lasagna was very good and they have gluten free options. Service was a bit hit and miss there. We also ate there on the Friday for the wedding rehearsal dinner. They did have a set menu for the 20 or so that were there. Our last night, we ate at the Japanese (Hashiru) and had the teppanyaki. It was excellent. The cook prepared everything for 17 people and the food was very good. Also great service there. Other food options include the beach grill for lunch which was good with plenty of options like wraps, burgers, hot dogs, fajitas, salads, fruits. There were 2 lunch buffets, one on each side of the pool (main buffet closed for lunch) and they had a daily lunch option near the pool bars, paelas, fajitas etc… Other options at the shopping plaza (open to everyone and free) include the coffee shop (lots of pastries), the crepe and ice cream parlour, the tacos restaurants and the burger place. There is also the Rock Café on the Del Mar side that serves lunch. We did not eat on the Del Mar side at all during our stay. ENTERTAINMENT: the E-team was good. Lots of activities and games at the pool during the day and evening shows at night at the theatre. There was also a well planned event for the Superbowl including an American style buffet/spread during the game. We did not attend any of the shows in the evening. The lobby bar was also a popular spot with live music and karaoke most nights. Service was excellent with many bartenders and servers at the many tables. GYM: there is also a very nice, 2 stories gym near the main plaza. It is free for everyone but very busy as for the 5 resorts. It has everything you want including threadmills, bikes, elepticals, free weights, benches, cable machines etc… plus many classes being run on the upper floor. We only had time to visit once during our stay. WEDDING: my son’s wedding was fantastic. The wedding coordinator and staff did an amazing job. The ceremony was held in the gazebo located in a small courtyard in the middle of the resort. Then the reception dinner was held on the beach. It was a bit windy but the weather was warm enough. We had a large buffet style dinner set up near the beach grill. Tables for the group and headtable were directly on the beach around an illuminated dance floor. We had a DJ and had a great time dancing until 11pm. Then everyone headed to the disco which is located in the main plaza. Entry and drinks are free there also. Music was very good and the whole group had an amazing time. SERVICE: it is noteworthy to point that this is a 4* resort so you will not get drink servers around the pool or room service. There are 2 swim up bars at the main pool but no walk up bar so you need to either get in the pool or lean in at the stairway to ask for drinks. The bartenders were very accommodating however. Service was good everywhere for the most part including buffet, restaurants, bars. TRAM: there is a very convenient tram system that runs from the beach to the lobby (green line). You can track where each tram is with an interactive app. There is also an interactive app in the lobby for tracking. They run constantly up and down the line. You can still walk from the lobby to the beach in about 7-10 mins (slow walk). BEACH/WEATHER: one of the main reason we rarely visit Mexico in the winter anymore is because of the cooler weather which was the case the week before we came. As such, pools were very cool but the weather was much warmer during our stay so it did warm up at some point. We only got a little bit of rain one morning and one evening otherwise the weather was nice. The beach is fairly nice and there was very little sea weeds which gets cleaned up early in the morning. However, the towel game at the beach and pool was insane. You could not find a lounger past 9am at the beach and about the same time at the pool. Many simply reserved loungers and wouldn’t come back until the afternoon. Quite annoying. OVERALL: we were quite pleased and pretty much everything exceeded our expectations. The bride chose Mexico and this resort (4* to accommodate everyone’s budget) and we were not disappointed. The friendly, professional staff made our stay pleasant and comfortable. Definitely recommend IPB for a nice family stay (there were many kids around including about 6 kids part of our group). The resort is lush with vegetation and full of different animals like peacocks, wild pigs, coatis, agoutis, iguanas etc… Very beautiful. Feel free to message me should you have any questions. I have also posted many photos of our trip.

This was my 13th trip to this complex and it is hard to say anything new after all these visits. However, I always want to reward a happy visit. My check in was swift, and I was able to move my room closer to the pool and further from the lobby with no trouble. At dinner the first night, one of the entertainment staff, Daniel, recognized me from last year. Impressive! That also happened with Remy and Elihut the next day. The grounds were as beautiful as ever. The army of staff does a great job. I love the wildlife except when I have to fight the coatis for my food. I saw more agouti than in previous years. I spent most of my time at the pool, in my usual spot near the pingpong tables. The activities team was splenduid, and worked hard to get people involved. The foam party in the pool was a hoot. Again, I was amused when people from Sherbrooke QC remebered me from 2 years ago, and a family from Minnesota recognized me from last year. Nice to see return visitors like me. I enjoyed my swims and my beer. Frank at the pool bar looked like he had six hands at times. The ocean was the calmest I have even seen and I and others took advantage of it. Jose in the beach bar always had a friendly word. Food was fine. The beach restaurants are of necessity, limited in their selection, but the main buffet made up for it. I was especially impressed with Nehemias, who always had my breakfast coffee ready, and who knew me from my previous visits. I did go to the Brazilian Restaurant, which was its usual excellent. ent, while better than last year, could still do with some more variety and upgrading. The room was fine, though I spent very little time in it. The entertainment was better than last year but could use a bit more variety. All in all, a great visit, I think I will be back.
