We stopped at this hotel on a trip down the Mekong in early February. The hotel looks great from the river, its balconies jutting out from the hillside above Pakbeng. On arrival the manager was surly and uncommunicative. Our upper room overlooked the river and had a balcony. However, the room had no glass in the windows, only louvres, so...

Our confirmed reservation was denied due to mismanagement (overbooked ). We offered a room at nearby inferior hotel and told price was "same same" which is a lie we confirmed online. Manager then offers free Breakfast and dinner, which were poor and average, respectively. Cannot recommend supporting this dishonest man.

We stayed one night on our way to Luang Prabang. The room was very clean and there is a great view of the river from the balcony. It's good value for what you pay (as prices are a bit higher in Pakbeng). They didn't tell us we had free breakfast at the restaurant across the street - which we would...

The accommodation is in upgraded local style huts, wooden floors, bamboo walls and shutters on the windows. The rooms were large and the bathroom was clean and serviceable. Each hut has a balcony that overlooks the Mekong River. A very pleasant place to be to take in the sunset.

This accomodation is in a good spot overlooking the river. Our room was clean but very basic. Comfortable bed, hot shower, mosquito net for protection but no other furniture such as wardrobe or safe. Breakfast was in the restaurant across the road and consisted of bread and jam, a small portion of scrambled eggs, tea/ Coffee and some fruit -...

The views and lodge itself are lovely. The owner is rude and has no care for his guests. It's a shame as the staff here are really friendly, but someone needs to tell the owner to a) cheer up and b) teach him some basic customer service skills, of which he lacks. Do not bother with their restaurant across the...

Rooms overlook the Mekong. Comfortable beds, nice bathroom. Towels beautifully shaped into swans on the beds, which made it hard to use them. Rooms on the upper floor have balconies overlooking the river. The downside is that this overlooks the main slipway for the town and it can be noisy. Fortunately, due to Lao curfew laws, the noise stops soon...

1 overnight stay as a part of our rivercruise from Houiay Xay to Luang Prabang. Small walk (uphill) from the boat jetty (I did not see any tuktuks or taxis ...), so i recommend to just bring a small bag with stuff you need for the night and leave your "big" luggage on the boat if possible. Very nice basic...

It was a while ago since I last stayed at the Mekong Riverside Lodge. Most recently I have been staying at more 'downmarket' establishments since Pakbeng is simply a one night staging post. But I decided I wanted a bit more comfort last week and stayed at the MRSL. I was greeted a like a long lost and valued friend,...

We stayed here for one night as part of the stopover on the slowboat trip down the Mekong. Its a simple guesthouse, comfortable and clean rooms, friendly staff and restaurant just behind. The balcony over looking the Mekong was spacious and offered delightful views of the River and in the early morning we were able to watch the elephants washing...
