A really nice hotel in the centre of Raalte. Perfect location for a cycling trip to the Sallandse Heuvelrug or a train trip into Zwolle. The hotel was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The staff were lovely and helpful. We wanted to rent bikes but they were one short so the owner let us use his! The hotel has a good sized pool and a sauna. The bar/restaurant was also very good. Fully recommended!!
Shocking customer service! In our room there was just one teabag and one coffee sachet near the kettle, not much choice for two people. When I kindly asked the receptionist for an extra tea bag and coffee sachet, I was bluntly und unkindly told I could NOT have more supplies. And that in a hotel that charges more than 100 euros a night - the worst customer service ever. Room was also quite noisy with traffic and there was only one bathrobe. One sleeve each, to go with half the teabag???? I CANNOT recommend this hotel.
This hotel was quaint, quiet, and just lovely. From the time I checked in the friendly Sabina was all too helpful. The beds were extremely comfortable, the breakfast area was very nice and I was able to cook what I wanted which also made me happy. the food in the restaurant was extremely flavorful and tasty. It was cooked to perfection. The staff was extremely helpful and also gave recommendations for things to do in town. I really enjoyed this hotel!
I visited Raalte in 2004 for a business meeting, and always wanted to return with my wife for fun. This month, in August 2018, I came back to Raalte and the Hotel de Zwaan. Raalte is a little jewel in Salland Province, in rural countryside ideal for biking. Walking in the neighborhoods between the train station and downtown is a treat for the eye -- people really have pride in their houses, yards and gardens. The Hotel de Zwaan has a very high-quality French-style restaurant, and they have significantly upgraded the hotel and the rooms, since my original visit 14 years ago. The staff are friendly, helpful, and take pride in their work. I recommend making reservations early, if you plan to visit in August -- since that is peak vacation time for Europe. We had to settle for the smallest room, but even that was quite satisfactory. The hotel is across the street from the big, lovely church (I am not religious, but I appreciate the architecture). Also across the street from the very walklable downtown shopping area, which was a lot of fun for such a small town -- and we did drop quite a bit of money there. As everywhere in the Netherlands, bikes rule, and it's fun to watch the traffic while sitting at an outside table, sipping on spritzers or wine and eating fine food. We borrowed a couple of bikes for a day of riding, made a circuit of about 40 kilos, took in the Museum de Fundatie art museum out in the country at Castle Nijenhuis (great cafe there for lunch) near Heino, lots of beautiful countryside and houses with thatched roofs, canals, fields, the Ijssel River at Wijhe and back to Raalte. There are also bike rentals in Raalte. We spent 2 days unwinding after a couple of weeks of busier travel in Europe -- Raalte and the Hotel de Zwaan provided a very satisfying experience.…
We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights. It is very centrally situated, making it easy to explore all the little streets!!! Room was clean and beds very comfortable. Breakfast was buffet with lovely homely atmosphere. Restaurant was a wonderful experience - elegant and great tasting food. Most importantly, service was excellent!!! Should you require a very modern hotel, then this is not the one for you but we loved it.
A nice business hotel with normal rooms with no something special, clean with a good breakfast and a real quality restaurant with perfect beef. Friendly staff that makes you feel comfortable. Not far from the train station in the center of the town.
Visited de Zwaan repeatedly. Their rooms are not up to date, but clean. Breakfast in home style, everything what you need. Good value. People are very nice and their chef is also fantastic. You can eat great food ala carte and also some daily offers. Well done.
The food is absolutely amazing. The rooms themselves are what you would expect, but the cuisine is godly. Three course meal for dinner with every course being gorgeous, perfect temperature and incredibly tasty. The service is great- as soon as you have a problem they strive to solve it as quickly and conveniently as possible, whether it's a clogged toilet or you need a bus plan to Amsterdam. The hotel is located in good surroundings with a lot of shops and a church nearby. The town itself is very quiet and idyllic. Perfect for a family visit!
Pros: Centrally located; comfortable; nice restaurant; rooms are efficient and updated; reasonable price, friendly ownership, good and easy wifi; excellent in room lighting Cons: breakfast a little on the weak side
Excellent rein deer dinner with many small litte extras and side dishes. Mashed potatoes and a little fried potatoe cake. Well composed wine sauce. Some green vegetables. All this with a nice selection of red wine. All in accordance with hehe rekommendation of waitress and chef. Thanks!
