We don't tend to stay in hostels and were rather nervous about our visit to Cafe Lava, which was booked by a local tour operator who arranged our visit to Bromo. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was more than acceptable, not the cleanest but nothing to lose sleep over. Hot water, clean bedsheets, one of the best locations to...

My boyfriend and I stayed in a standard room and paid 400,000 idr for two nights which included breakfast. Initially we were brought into a room that had a strong smell, that quite frankly, we just couldn't get used to. The staff accommodated our request to switch rooms. I had read lots of reviews and had basic expectations--I knew this...

My stay at Café Lava Hostel was really short as we arrived around midnight from Surabaya, and had to wake up at 2 am to start the ascent to Penanjakan... and unfortunately only see a sea of clouds instead of sunrise:( The hostel has a nice building style with groups of 3 rooms scattered over the place. The rooms are...

Everything in this hotel is good except the water heater. You must first check if it is working after you get into the room, unless if you don't mind bathing with chilling water in the cold weather. The restaurant is cozy and a good place to have a sip of coffee and relax. Their fried banana tatste good.

It is just steps up from the Cafe Lava, and there is a view to the mountains straight from outside your room. It does get cold inside and heater isn't provided. But a blanket was enough. There was some issues with hot water, as I couldn't get it during the morning. Thing to note: No wifi in the rooms.

Cafe Lava is just few steps away from the entrance gate to mount Bromo, many stops here to have breakfast after come out from the volcano site, buffet style serving and comfortable restaurant. We stay here one night only just to be able catch an early morning 4x4 trip to see sunrise over the park. The hotel is considered a...

We stayed in private room which was really cold in the night and there was no heater provided to us. The walls were as if hollow and we could hear every word spoken by the ppl in the next room. There were snails in the bathroom which i hated so i could not bath in peace. The hot water worked...

The room is very good for the area. Don't expect 5 star hotel. Restaurant was very cheap and I was really surprised with the good quality. I loved their steak and fresh fruit juices. The price of the room is also good. We definitely advice this hostel.

We had the Standard Double Room for 400k/night. Might be a bit pricier, but you're just in front of the park entrance. The rooms are big and you get multiple blankets/covers. We didn't get cold at night. Hot water too. The staff was super friendly and helpful in planning our trip up for the sunrise.

The location of this hostel is amazing! With a 5 min walk you are at a great viewing point of the Bromo vulcano. The hostel itself is nothing more than it seems. Just a decent hostel with a common dining area and cleanish rooms. Due to the height and humidity, everything in the room was humid, including the bed and...
