Visited this hotel in September with an aunt whom I always go on holiday with. The first thing that we found an issue was the title all inclusive.. firstly there was not a kettle in the room it had to be hired, then you had to pay for the use of the safe which also came with an unlock code which you could not change yourself. Reception staff were not very accommodating or very helpful as the first day we arrived and asked for a kettle one wasn’t available then when we did eventually obtain one it was actually banged down on the counter. We had a swim up room with very little wardrobe space in fact the word wardrobe was used very loosely as dresses over hung the length of the so called item. Most of our tops ended hanging on a rail that split a sitting area from the beds. There was only 3 drawers in the whole room all of which were not very big. There were stains on the tiles in the room which we did actually manage to remove by using wet wipes. We did this to see if they were unremovable or if the cleanliness of the room was an issue. We only had a towel and sheet change once in the week we were there and the room was never cleaned beyond that and we made the beds daily ourselves usually in the evening just to make sure no one had been in . The bathroom had a shower and toilet, but the sink to wash your hands etc was also in the bedroom and not in the bathroom as one would expect. The towels were not allowed to be taken to the pool area so if you did not bring a towel one had to be purchased in the shop and the cheapest towel was 12€ The only drinks that were included in all inclusive were soft drinks, and one day I asked for hot chocolate and told I would have to pay. All cocktails were charged and there was no mini bar in the room so you either had to purchase your drinks to go in the fridge or walk to the bar to obtain a free drink. Food was not allowed to be removed from the restaurant as well as a pack lunch was not supplied if you left the hotel for the day. You could not even take a roll out the restaurant, which was an issue with the long walk down the stairs to obtain a snack. We used to skip breakfast everyday as we found it to be the same everyday. There was wasps constantly around the food and sitting outside the wasps and cats were a constant bother. Food was mediocre but I am a fussy eater my aunt usually likes most food was leaving it on a nightly basis stating that it was tasteless and bland. There was only entertainment one night in the hotel whilst we were there. You could use the beach of the hotel which was down the road but to be honest we never did and didn’t speak to anyone that had. The upside was the shuttle service up to the rooms as there was 75 steps from the pool to our room we were quite high but the sun sets and sun rises were absolutely stunning

San Giorgio is a really good hotel and very relaxing. The pools are big and there was no rush to get sunbeds early in the morning. The room was big, comfortable and clean with good air conditioning. The sea views from the room and hotel were amazing. The restaurant was good with nice greek food but there could have been more choice. The bar offered soft drinks and local spirits but cocktails werent included on all inclusive and the drinks seemed weak. The evenings were quiet, there was only one night of greek dancing. Skala beach is a nice sandy beach and very laidback and there is a good bakery on the high street for lunch/drinks. The hotel runs a shuttle bus to/from Skala, you need to get a ticket from reception as it can get busy. In the evenings there are a few shops and bars. I recommend going to Mytros beach, Melissani cave and Fiskardo while in Kefalonia. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly. Also the people in the hotel are mainly English and friendly so you are bound to meet/get talking to others during the day or night.

We stayed here for one week at the end of September. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We did learn a few Greek phrases before getting there which the staff all seemed delighted with. Our room was dated but had all we needed plus a lovely seaview from our balcony. The sheets/towels were changed daily as well as the room cleaned. Yes, there were steps but that is mentioned in the description of the property so we were not surprised. We are older so we just took it slowly and enjoyed the exercise. There were 3 pools with plenty of sun loungers. We also liked that there was no loud music around the pools which makes a pleasant change. We liked the food which was a selection of Greek and Italian dishes along with an extensive salad bar. The weather was lovely so we were able to have our meals outside. The AI drinks were fine and not watered down. We stuck to the wine, beer and of course gin & tonic. However, if you wanted branded drinks you could purchase them. We walked into Skala and back one day and stopped off at a lovely pastry shop which is a must. For those that are not so mobile the free hotel shuttle offers a great regular service to and from Skala. We also spent a couple of afternoons at Waves using their free sunbeds and had lunch there. We had two nights of entertainment which was very enjoyable. We had a lovely time and we're very sad to leave. Thank you San Giorgio!

We stayed for two weeks at the end of August and really enjoyed our holiday. The staff were exceptional - so friendly and helpful throughout the hotel. True filoxenia! We had two of the older rooms which were a little tired (definitely 3 star), but well-serviced and with A/C and wonderful sea views. The restaurant was excellent and we enjoyed the variety and fresh choices on offer throughout our stay. The attentive chef clearly wants to offer authentic Greek food, but with enough options for children and international tastes. The location of the hotel is peaceful (we enjoyed the local cove and the nearby temple) and the mini bus to town useful (taxis are, in any case, reasonable and easy to find). Skala is great and well-located for other parts of the island including the ferry from Porous to the mainland. Would recommend!

My sister and I spent a weeks holiday at this hotel. We arrived late evening, our cases were transferred to our room and were waiting outside on our arrival by 'hotel taxi'. We had booked a swim up room and it was nothing short of stunning. The room was well presented, immaculately clean and of a high standard. The views from the room were breathtaking at sunrise, throughout the day and into the evening. We were in room 622. The downsides to the room were not enough storage space, the fridge was small (explained later) and as the hotel is set into the hillside, it was a trek away from refreshments. There was no water in the fridge on our arrival.  This was probably the least appealing factor in the hotel. As my sister is a wheelchair user, I trekked down the very steep slopes to the onsite shop for refreshments. There was no kettle or iron in the room. You can borrow an iron from reception and return it the same day. You can hire a kettle for €5/wk from reception. The sun disappeared from us about 2.30-3pm due to the positioning of room. A few days later, I discovered a short cut of steps to take me directly to the poolside; I counted 98 steep steps and a steep slope on returning to my room. Although most people would be put off by this, don't be. The free hotel taxi is available from 08.00hrs-23.30hrs and the drivers are polite and good fun; George was always amazing and took care of the wheelchair each time. For those without mobility issues, you will need to make your own way down but the taxi is available on returning to your room. Food and drinks: the AI did not present good enough value in my opinion. I thought the choice was limited and the wasps around the food was a problem. However, I do accept I am not a seafood eater, and there appeared to be too much Dill in almost everything. This was very off putting to me.  We met a lovely couple who had visited the island several times before and so recommended restaurants in Skala town which we then used for our evening meals. In my opinion, you would struggle to feed children given the choices available. There was a snackbar but this wasn't of a particularly good standard, in my opinion, given the choices available and in comparison to other hotels I have stayed in. The other problem was the availability of refreshments when you have a swim up room. You can order 2 drinks at a time from the bar but the trouble would be carrying them up to the room to enjoy by 'your' poolside. This doesn't work. Prior to travelling, my sister and I, purchased metal drink bottles, 500mls, to keep our drinks cool. The bar would fill these with water only. I asked for 2 lemonade drinks in the restaurant on 1 occasion, having been informed they would not fill the bottle. I proceeded to pour the 2 glasses into my bottle and then was told I couldn't do it. I was on my way back to my room and as I had paid AI, I wanted more than water to drink. We ended up buying our own soft drinks and storing them in the fridge. The fridge wasn't really big or deep enough to accommodate bottles without stripping out the shelving. However, by doing this, we could store 3 x 1.5ltr bottles and 3 juice cartons in the door. Reception: again, immaculately presented, staff were always present, polite and helpful. Everywhere is beautifully decorated and very clean. TUI Rep: Sarah was always on hand, very polite and helpful. She was very good at her job and her local knowledge was of a high standard. She really cared for the customer's experience and went above and beyond. Pool: we only visited the main poolside on the last day following checkout. I wasn't convinced there were enough sun loungers for people wishing to sunbathe and again, the sun was lost to parts of the pool quite early in the day. I do not see this can be overcome and could be beneficial in high season to provide shaded areas. Maids: every single maid I met was polite, always smiled and just went above and beyond. We had Diana clean our room and she was professional, very pleasant to chat to as we used Google translate. She always said hello even when we bumped into her in Skala. Overall impression: I would visit this hotel again but it wouldn't be for the food. I would be happy to overcome this by eating out in the restaurants of my choosing to suit my palette or pay more for a higher standard of food. The hotel certainly has so many positives to it. Suggestions to the hotel: Welcome bottle of water in the fridge; a kettle as standard in the room; coverings on the food; less Dill in the food choices; offer of a continental breakfast basket, I would have paid an additional €5 per morning for this; room service for drinks; a larger fridge in rooms furthest away from the bar area; a survey of guests' views of the food choices, constructive feedback could be beneficial and improve this weak point.

I don’t think this hotel deserves some of the bad reviews that have been written unless we’re we very lucky in our experience here . We stayed for a week in this hotel requested a ground floor room due to mobility issues and we had a lovely room with a terrace overlooking the sea. The room was a little tired in places but comfortable and clean with fresh linen every three days. A bottle of wine and a card was left for me as it was my birthday - a thoughtful touch. The public rooms were spacious , clean and had a little library which came in useful. The pool areas were lovely kept clean etc as were all the public areas and toilets /showers. Sun beds never an issue could always find a couple in the sun without a stupid early morning rush. The snack bar was fine supplied rolls, bruschetta, fruit, chips and French toast . The mini bus into Scala worked well and we found it a charming place to visit for a few hours. Entertainment on a couple of nights which made a nice change but would recommend you take at least a pack of cards as the evenings can be quiet. We found the food well cooked tasty and with a fair selection of vegetarian so we ate well every evening and breakfast time we never made it to lunch so unable to comment. We drank the drink on offer with no complaints but we are certainly not wine experts so enjoyed what we were given with no complaints. All the staff helpful friendly and happy to help with any issues a paving slab was loose outside our terrace we noticed it but didn’t bother to report it but it was fixed within a couple of days so good attention to detail. A few minor things could be improved- sun beds are very tired and ‘saggy’ some pool umbrellas need replacing , I would like to have seen more fruit being offered at meal times but that’s just a personal thing. We did find the Diet Coke not to our taste but instead drank the orange and lemon which was really nice. Would we return yes I think we probably will and would hope to see a bit more of the Island next time .

This is a difficult review as I feel that the accommodation part of the holiday was amazing. We had one of the new swim up rooms which were fantastic. Couldn’t fault it at all. Amazing views, beautiful pool, super comfy beds just fab. We had an end one which got the sun all day, I would recommend requesting one if you are a sun lover. We used the mini bus up to the room pretty much every time, we did walk a couple of times and it is do able but it’s definitely extremely steep. We always walked down. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. This is where it gets difficult as I don’t feel feel the rest of the hotel matches the lovely rooms. The all inclusive is hard to access because you are so far from the drinks and food, we brought drinks for the room from the shop. We ate breakfast and dinner as stayed up at the room in the day so brought snacks from the shop. I don’t agree that the drinks are watered down if anything they are super strong even the orange juice (think it’s more like squash) was so strong. The free spirts, for me were not nice at all, wine and beer were ok. Food wise, did we go hungry? No. Did we enjoy the meals? Not really, they were ok nothing to look forward to or get excited about. Nothing really wrong with it just not super tasty or exciting. I have definitely stayed in cheaper all inclusive’s with much better food and drink. The island is beautiful, the small cove just over the road is very beautiful, definitely need water shoes. We won’t be returning to this hotel unfortunately which is a shame because the rooms are definitely amazing.

Going to keep this short and sweet! The people who right negative reviews simply don’t have a bloody clue! The hotel is absolutely spot on! The drinks are fine, the food is amazing as it’s all Greek cuisine, isn’t that why people come to Greece??? Great location and views! Very clean! We will be coming back as it’s a bargain for the price! Just to add if you have any disabilities have a good read of the area, many hills and steps but the hotel has a free in house taxi for residents and a free bus going in to Skala!!

After reading the reviews I wanted to cancel but reviews are always either amazing or rubbish. Offered meal upon arrival at 10pm. We had a swim up room which was the best, amazing views, amazing sunrise, my boys were safe as a single parent. Our neighbours were lovely. The staff were attentive and helpful. Air con was brilliant. Entertainment hit and miss but meant for a more relaxed holiday. Everyone there was so friendly and we made some lovely friends. Fairly quiet and relaxed. I thought the whole thing would be a nightmare as a single mum going to a hotel with awful reviews. Couldn’t be more wrong. The cove was amazing with some beautiful fish. Day trip to Zante was slightly overcrowded and the stairs off the boat questionable H&S but we survived and had a lovely day out. Drinks I thought may be watered down but I was proven wrong a few times lol. Loved the salads and meats. The steps to the room a welcome workout after indulging in 4 meals daily :) Already looking at next year.
