Breakfast is ok, nothing much to talk about as it's average.
Restaurant food is very good reasonable portions.
Service is the best, very quick for housekeeping and clean.
Definitely one should stay here as the convenience of other restaurants for good food is also round the corner.
Of coz the hotel is not a new one so you can expected some dated but it is totally fine with us.
The atmosphere is relaxing and that s what important to us. The room is spacious and clean. The breakfast is okay considering the price of the room. We have a walk in the hotel and the club house. We love the environment with lots of trees. The staff are very friendly.
We have a happy stay and will come back again! Thank you to all the staff.
The location is excellent. The hotel is on Taipa Island, the same island as the international airport and only a $HK15 taxi ride across a long causeway from your more likely arrival point, the ferry terminal. For gamblers, it’s a short ride to either the “City of Dreams” casino complex featuring the Grand Hyatt, Venetian, Crown, Hard Rock and other hotels, or the downtown Macau casinos of the Grand Lisboa, the Wynn and the Sands. Don’t worry about it in either case: taxis are plentiful and cheap, and the modern bridges make jumping from one island to another a non-event. I liked being out of the bustle and crowds of downtown; Taipa is a charming, green, hilly island without the noise of Macau.
From the style of the facility, it probably was built in the 1980s and at the time was state of the art. In today’s view, the lobby is cramped, the carpets are worn, the restaurant is cramped and dated, the bar unappealing and the rooms a bit dowdy. A major refresh is what’s really needed here.
Now let’s get down to the details. Despite the brochures, there is no shuttle bus from the ferry terminal. (To be 100% precise, there is a shuttle, but it takes so long to pick you up it’s not worth the effort. After waiting more than 30 minutes, we took a cab from the ferry terminal to the hotel for HK$18.) Disappointment #1.
Our second disappointment was the staff. Very few of the staff are fluent in English; for a global business traveler this is a major issue.
Once inside, the lobby is nice but cramped and the carpets are worn. The hallway from the elevator to the rooms had low ceilings and a damp, moldy aroma. The hotel room was acceptable, and the air conditioning and plumbing all worked as advertised, but esthetically I felt I was in Miami Beach in 1979. (All that was missing was the avocado green bathtub.) There was mold in the bathroom, only a limited number of towels, and a cockroach (alive) by the desk in the room. Chalk up another disappointment.
The breakfast area was a buffet, tasty and fresh, with a cook preparing custom orders. But the seating area was far too small for the crowds they served and the waiting line for custom orders was onerous. The eggs were properly cooked (which is always a pleasant surprise in Asia) but the coffee was poor. The food service area is guarded by a mindless Breakfast Nazi, so don’t forget to bring your breakfast voucher.
Despite repeated efforts, and a fee of HK$300 for two days of service, I could not get the wireless internet access to work. This is, to me, a huge issue. A hotel for international businesspeople must, must, must have reliable (and ideally free) internet access. Shame on them!
But then I found a pleasant surprise, and it ALMOST turned the trip around: hidden behind the hotel is a massive garden, and in the midst of that garden is a huge, beautiful, clean, gorgeous swimming pool. I felt removed from the world; no traffic noise, no noisy tourists, just a little bit of paradise. There also are tennis courts in good condition and under-utilized.
But these sterling facilities cannot make up for all the other problems. So, ignore the advertising. This is a three-star hotel that maybe, twenty years ago, was a five-star gem. Today, it’s just going to frustrate you. Either get a big discount or go someplace else.
The best and most cost effective way to commute here is by bus - the hotel has bus stops available right in front of it - pick up information from the online travel forums regarding the bus routes or get the hotel staff to help. Walking tours of Macau (for which directions and maps are easily available online), are absolutely the best way of seeing the multiple attractions of the place.
The bright side of this hotel was breakfast and food overall.
