We recently stayed at the recently opened Caravel Hotel in the Macau Peninsula and very much enjoyed this property. This is a modern boutique hotel that is well designed and comfortable, a good option for those looking for midrange places in the peninsula not too far from the World Heritage area.
Reservation was made on booking.com. Payment was taken at the time of booking and. Email confirmation of booking was received immediately. We were well received upon arrival and found front desk staff to be friendly and helpful throughout out stay.
Property location is a bit tricky if you are unfamiliar with Macau. It is on the small street of Rua Do Guimaraes, just a couple minutes walk from Sofitel at Ponte 16 which is your closest major reference point. You can walk to important historic sights in 5 minutes from here and you'll find plenty of local eateries in the area.
The property is designed in the manner of a heritage building with a nautical theme and concept. The room is tastefully decorated, modern and being relatively new, everything is in good working order. Bed comfort was fine, allowing good sleep. TV, wifi, A/C, lighting, fridge, room safe all worked just fine. There is a free use 4G handy phone, desk area with chair, kettle, tea & coffee, expected closet space and a good sized bathroom with modern fixtures and a nice shower. Room space is fair for Macau properties and overall more comfortable than usual.
Lobby includes a fair amount of seating. They have handy maps of Macau and MGTO event information. Do pick these up and make use as they will greatly help you with navigating the streets around Caravel Hotel.
Overall, we were quite happy with our first stay at Caravel Hotel. This is a really good new property and nice addition to the small list of midrange properties that we like on the Macau Peninsula. Will gladly stay here again during weekend strips to Macau.

We had discovered, tried and really enjoyed Caravel Hotel back in Jan 2020 just before the pandemic started. Recently, made our first overnight trip back to Macau three years later when the city reopened to quarantine free travel. As luck would have it, our first stay was again at Caravel Hotel on Rua Do Guimaraes on the Macau Peninsula.
Very pleased to find that the hotel has changed very little since 2020. Our room felt little used, had a near new hotel feel to it. All furnishing was in very good condition, same with bathroom fixtures. Decor was a mix of nautical and local culture & heritage. Space fine for the room rate.
Importantly the bed was comfortable, allowing for quality rest. TV had a couple of English channels, similar to what you find with local broadcast and cable all over Macau. Wifi worked perfectly, room lighting good, shower water pressure just fine. Room has a hair dryer and safe as well.
Check-in was fine, staff were friendly and spoke English very well. They have left luggage service if you arrive early or are departing late. Lobby area is a bit small, similar to what you find with 2-3 star properties on the peninsula. Location is a bit tricky if you are unfamiliar with Macau. They are a few minutes walk from the Sofitel Ponte 16 Hotel and if you have a map printed out they are easy enough to find.
Basically, Caravel is similar to quite a few of the midrange priced properties on the Macau Peninsula. They are just newer and as such have nicer rooms that show less age, wear and tear compared to the older properties at similar room rates. We will very likely stay here again during future trips over from Hong Kong.

Kati (the manager) and her team (including associates Harvey and Apple, as well as 妹姐, the cleaning lady) offered friendly and competent hospitality during my month-long stay at the hotel from April to May 2021.
The rate was affordable and the hotel was extra clean, which was extremely important to me during the pandemic. Being homesick and away from my family in the US, I felt well taken care by the entire staff. I would definitely recommend Caravel Hotel to anyone!

We booked online and the booking was confirmed and already paid for but when we reached there around 2 in the morning, the staff couldn't locate our booking and there were no rooms available. We made sudden plans to stay the night in Macao, we booked the room before 10PM same day. After playing Casino overnight, when we reached the Hotel didn't have the booking or the room or any other facilities that we could use. Instead, they asked us to cancel the booking and get another hotel room. Where can you possibly find a room at 2 in the morning in Taipa area if you're a visitor and with no phone connection but only Wifi Access of the hotels?
Such a terrible experience. We were so drained out and tired, we just wanted to sleep and catch the bus to HK next morning. The room price was 1k which isn't very cheap. The hotel should maintain their online reservations, if you don't have rooms available, you should block the booking via online portal. They said no check-ins after 9PM, please do not keep any online portals open then or please do contact your guests when you receive the bookings.

Very welcoming hotel.
Helpful staff, services and very friendly.
Thorough cleaning.
Good and sufficient breakfast.
The services offered to customers are very good: from the information necessary for visits, on public transport and it provides umbrellas in case of rain!
Nice rooms with all services and large windows.
Reception staff very prepared and available for any service including the purchase of stamps and the sending of postcards or the exchange of coins to travel on public transport.

A nice basic boutique hotel for a short stay. Nice design, comfortable room, nice quality amenities. Hotel service is basic. There's water, coffee and limited snacks (cereals) available in the common area for 24/7. There's no breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The hotel is located on narrow streets in an older area. It can be difficult to get a taxi going into the small narrow streets. Be prepared to be dropped off on the main street and walk to the hotel.
It's extremely difficult to get a taxi in the area. It's a general problem of Macao, but particularly worse in narrow streets in an older district in my opinion.

So warmly welcomed from the moment we walked int he door by a beautiful reception girl. The hotel was easy to find, a real close walk from buses and other nearby huge hotels/casinos. Caravel is located in a quiet street just one road back from the busy ones. Plenty of suitable shops around from great drinks across the road & 7/11 style shops up the road. The room was great. View was of houses behind so no street noise at all. Only noise was people exiting the elevator while talking loudly. Bed was very comfortable along with the pillows too. A/C was good but rather noisy. Bottled water, coffee and tea was gratis. Great shower. General info for visitors. Bring cash and bank notified credit card. Foreign cards will work at ATM for cash withdrawal but not for foreigner owned Chinese bank cards. Chinese ID is required. International AliPay works fine too. Enjoy the beauty of Macau with your friends or family.

Hotel is housed within a unique shaped historic building. The overall style of the hotel is hippy and modern. Nevertheless, it is still a considerably old building with only one elevator. The elevator malfunctioned during check out which was a little inconvenient but the receptionist was helpful and provided us with prompt assistance. We also like that the hotel is located in an area which puts in walking distance to most of the sights in the Macau Peninsula. As long as you are not travelling with elderlies, this hotel is definitely worth a try.
