We had only 20 hours in Macau so we just had a 6-hour sleep and went on to explore the city. The receptionist was so kind to upgrade our room (that was totally unexpected!). The beds were very comfortable, there was a bathtub that was a pleasant surprise. The view from the window opened to the city. We were just sad we did not have time to enjoy the comfort our room for a longer time. We liked the location - there was only a short walk to a park around the lighthouse with magnificent views of the city. Definitely would go back!

We had a short stay in this hotel, only one day. The hotel is on a hill so if you carry your luggage be prepared to walk uphill. Overall the hotel is good. It is quiet at night as it is next to a convent. The service was not bad. It is close to the downtown Macau. We recommended this hotel

Guia Hotel is located on Guia Fortress Lighthouse hill and park. You can reach major tourist attractions, the casinos and historic sites within 15 mins of walking. It is however not advisable for those with young children and old folks, as the incline is quite a challenge. The hotel looks drabby from outside, but interiors looks modern and recently renovated.Rooms are extremely clean, modern and clean furnishings, amazingly white and clean bedding and towels.In-house chinese restaurant serves good dim sum.

It was the cheapest accomodation I could find for a Saturday, on which the East Asian Games started. Weekends are usually more expensive because of the crowds entering from China mainland and Hong Kong in order to make money in the Las Vegas of Asia.
Hotel is located slightly outside of the city center very close to Fort Guia and the highest elevation of Macau (not that high - don't fear!). The hotel provides complimentary shuttle sevice to Hotel Lisboa (best known casino) and the city center, which I did not use. My room was very comfortable offering all amenties a hotel room should be equipped with. Flatscreen TV (with less English channels), minibar with free beverages, comfortable bed and a bathroom with a tube. The staff of the reception spoke a good English, although foreigners from Europe or America were a rare occurence.
Hotel Guia is definitely a good choice!

The hotel is quite modern with lovely rooms which are bigger than the average I have experienced in Hong Kong. The room had everything we needed including a small selection of drinks and dried noodles etc for snacks. Beware though as all these come with a cost so check the orices before using any of them. The hotel does not have a bar but does have a licenced restaurant. This does not really matter as there are plenty of places to go in Macau for eating and drinking in any case.
The hotel is situated towards the top of the hill leading up to the fort and lighthouse and is a bit of a walk from the main shopping and Casino areas. However there is a bus stop about 50 metres from the hotel and also they have a courtesy bus which will drop you off/pick up at various places. We used the courtesy bus to go back to the ferry terminal which took less than 10 minutes.
We only stayed there one night but the staff seemed very helpful and they also looked after our suitcase while we explored the island after we had checked out. I would reckomend this hotel to anyone and think it's really good for the price we paid. I will book here gain if I go back to Macau.

Guia Hotel was a Superior Tourist Class Hotel! It was located at the foot of the Guia Hill. It has a great view of the Guia Fort and Lighthouse and its surroundings is very peaceful and quite, away from the busy and noisy streets of Macau. The hotels location has an easy access to some major tourist spots and ferry terminal. The room was average in size but cozy and clean with Television, telephone (with free local calls), mini fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer and a Tub. It has a Chinese restaurant at the Ground floor and the lobby was small but very clean and nice. Staff are friendly and accomodating. Theres also a daily maid service which maintains the cleanliness of every room and a daily Free shuttle service to Ferry terminal and Lisboa Casino. It's a great choice for tourist who wanted a quite and tranquil environment. Remember to request a room with balcony to enjoy the great view of Macau.

Let me start by saying that I travel all the time for my work and I also have done some backpacking. I have stayed in different type of accommodations, anywhere from hostels to a Five-Diamond hotel. I can make a difference between reality and unrealistic travelers expectations.

With this hotel, you get exactly what they advertise.

LOCATION:
Perfect location for us who wanted to see the casinos and visit the city. Its about 10-15 minutes walk to the Lisboa, MGM and Wynn. Cheap taxi ride from ferry to hotel. Its next to the Fort and beautiful park where people jog, stretch or simply take a peaceful walk. I only wish they had a coffee shop closer to the hotel.

STAFF:
Okay staff, not great, not bad.

ROOM:
It is what it is, a 3*. The beds were hard but not hard enough where you cant sleep. We had a non smoking room but the bed sheets smelled like cigarettes really badly which I did not like. Im assuming they just wash all bed sheets together therefore mine where probably in a smoking room before. If its the case, I suggest that the hotel should not mix the bed sheets in between types of rooms. Good shower!

At first sight you can tell the hotel is old and appears more like a North American motel. Decent sized room. No mini bar, in room safe, heat, coffee or clock. There were 2 medium bottles of water and several Chinese tea bags and electric kettle. The beds were just pure box springs so my back was just super sore the next morning. There was in room wifi but super slow and choppy connection so definitely not suited for the business traveller. There is a 7-11 nearby to grab drinks, snacks or in my case... Instant noodles since room service cuts off at 10pm. The walk to town was quick and about 10 minutes. As per the last review you would want to turn right and then left to head to town. The other way invites getting run over by oncoming traffic as there is no sidewalk! Didn't hear the club downstairs. Presume that you would only hear it on the 2nd floor. The walls are pretty thin though so expect to hear people walk by or the elevator. Staff barely spoke English but the front desk spoke enough to get by. All in all I would find a more comfortable hotel the next time I come. I would also book it a lot sooner... Recommended for the thrifty traveller who doesn't want to stay at a hostel.

Stayed overnight for our visit to macau. Good value for what we paid for. We got a room with a balcony so we had a good view of the guia lighthouse. The room was clean, beds and pillows were not very soft but not hard either. The bathroom was small but more than adequate. Toiletries they provided were complete: toothbrushes, tiny toothpaste tube, shower gel, shampoo and lotion.
I had to call front office and check if cookies, sachets of instant coffee and two bottles of water were actually complimentary.
A very good hotel for tourists who want a decent but inexpensive hotel.

A colleague and I stayed here for three nights at the end of May for a business trip that had a few extra days tacked on for r&r. Having lived in Macau for some time previously, I knew that this hotel is in a quieter area, very close to the parkland that surrounds the lighthouse. Orientaltravel.com had a very good mid-week deal.
Our twin room was small but clean and faced the side street that goes up to the lighthouse - this was very quiet even in morning peak hours, and had the bonus of looking across at a restored heritage listed building currently used by the UN. The bathroom was a good size and included a full-sized bath (not to be taken for granted in this part of the world) with a retractable washing line above it. Water pressure was excellent, with hot water coming through quickly.
Front desk staff were friendly, happy to speak English and efficient, although I don't know how things would be in peak times as the reception area is quite small.
We didn't try the restaurant as it was being renovated - due to reopen yesterday.
It took us about 15 minutes to stroll down the hill to the town centre (Senado square), and if we were too tired to walk back up again we would catch the No.6 bus from just outside the HSBC main office.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for people who are interested in the non-gambling / nightlife side of Macau.
